How busy is Fellsmere Park?

I’m planning to propose to my girlfriend soon, and she’s said she doesn’t want a proposal that is “too public”, in the sense of not wanting a big crowd or becoming the center of attention. We live in Boston, so I’ve been looking at areas outside the city - Fellsmere park looks like a great choice, but I would love some insight on how busy it can get, particularly on a weekend morning or afternoon, since it is still in the middle of a neighborhood.

Does anyone know how to install a mini split AC unit?

I want to know if I can do it myself because they are asking way too much money for installing those units.

🚋 According to Boston Business Journal, Malden Center is the 17th busiest MBTA train station with 1.9M gated entries in 2025, a 12% increase compared to last year.

Article is paywalled so the information is here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1HSsfvYFMSj8VtP0m0G7wB6lWpbUHY0OD/htmlview

(I shared this via Malden Safe Streets FB, Insta, Discord, and LinkedIn a while ago but figured it's worth sharing here, too. )

Eastern Ave & Broadway (MA 99)

Below is an image of the intersection of Eastern Avenue and Broadway in Malden, MA. If you're headed north on Broadway and you're south of Eastern Avenue, you use the right lane to cross through the intersection and continue up Broadway. The left lane is for left turns ONLY! So many people continue driving straight while in the left lane, creating a dangerous situation because Broadway is reduced to ONE LANE on the other side by CVS. STOP - there are clearly painted arrows in the left lane indicating it is a left-turn-only lane.

Proposal to Allow Residential Kitchens (Cottage Food Operations) in Malden

Over the last two months, Councillor Amanda Linehan and I have been working on a proposal to formally allow and regulate Residential Kitchens (Cottage Food Operations) in the City of Malden in line with Massachusetts Department of Public Health regulations under 105 CMR 590.000.

I’m excited to announce that the proposal has advanced to the next step: a joint meeting between the Economic Development and Ordinance Committees.

Home-based food businesses create real pathways to entrepreneurship, especially for women, immigrants, and low-income residents. Clear local standards can reduce unnecessary barriers while still maintaining strong public health protections.

This proposal is intended to:

  • Support small-scale, home-based food entrepreneurs
  • Promote economic opportunities within residential neighborhoods
  • Ensure food safety consistently with state law

The goal is to evaluate how permitting residential kitchen operations can:

  • Support local entrepreneurship
  • Foster small business growth
  • Increase access to locally prepared foods
  • Maintain public health, safety, and zoning standards

Many communities around Malden and across Massachusetts already allow cottage food operations successfully. Bringing clear rules to Malden could help residents legally start and grow small food businesses from home while ensuring accountability and safety.

As we navigate a challenging budget and fiscal climate in Malden, this proposal represents a low-cost, high-impact way to support economic growth from within our own neighborhoods. By creating opportunities for residents to start small businesses from their homes, we can help families generate additional income, encourage local spending, and expand entrepreneurship without requiring major new city expenditures. Supporting residential kitchens is a practical step toward building a more resilient local economy while empowering residents to contribute directly to Malden’s economic future.

Ill keep you updated as the process continues.

“If you build it, they will come.”

From Malden Safe Streets on Facebook:

🚲 "If you build it, they will come." In 2025, Malden saw a total of 21,449 Bluebike trips! That's a 40% increase in trips compared to last year, thanks to the help of 3 new docks.

🚋 Malden Center is the busiest dock in Malden.

🚴 There are 5% more trips to Malden than outside. Our most common visitor outside ourselves is Everett.

🎃 There were 11 Bluebike trips from Malden to Salem in October. The usual monthly is 1 or 2.

✍️ Feel free to suggest where you would like to see a new dock here! https://shareabouts-bluebikes-suggestions-prod-1045183798776.us-east4.run.app/page/about
