How do New Yorkers feel about Mamdani 6 months into his Mayoral term?

Asking in good faith. I like politics, am involved in politics in my area, Tampa, so just felt like asking New Yorkers.

Seems like the few people I know that live in NYC love Mamdani and from what I’ve seen he’s been a good mayor so far.

Sometimes I feel envious that I don’t live in NYC right now lol

State-run center for the disabled hasn’t had A/C for three years

Is this some of that empathy they like to talk about in Albany?

My brother is missing in Syracuse

Hello,

My brother Rory lives in Oswego but was last seen in Syracuse. I'm sharing the Oswego PD's missing person poster for him in hopes we can find him. He is thought to have his bike with him, but his van and ID we found elsewhere. Please message me or contact Oswego PD if you've seen him.

11-Year-Old Boy with Autism Safely Reunited with Family After Taking an Uber Alone to JFK Airport, Prompting Calls for Stronger Rideshare Safeguards for Unaccompanied Minors

An 11-year-old boy with autism from Valley Stream, New York, safely reached JFK Airport after ordering an Uber without his family’s knowledge. Port Authority staff spotted him alone in a TSA security line and contacted police. He was evaluated, found unharmed, and reunited with his family. His parents hope the incident encourages rideshare companies to strengthen safeguards to help prevent unaccompanied minors from riding alone.

Apparently the sub is against questions just trying trying to figure out what the deal is? I was silenced for asking a question

ETA: original post :”So I have been here for a a few years (idc about the “transplant” stuff) what is up with people leaving schooling carts at all grocery stores on the curb?….. even if the rack is two feet to the left? That’s wild to me”

Got a Move Over Law (VTL 1144-a) ticket in New York OTW back home to Canada Location: New York

Location: New York

My dad got a Move Over violation (VTL 1144-a) in Steuben County, ticket is going through Campbell Town Court. Completely Clean driving record otherwise. also to note we are from Ontario Canada so all offenses will transfer. this offense counts as a Conviction and would be on his record, increasing insurance rates which is difficult for us as a low income family. I've contacted 3 places about this and I am not really familiar with how the legal system works honestly so I am confused but the people we've contacted just let us know no negotiations are happening for this specific violation or that they dont deal with 1144a or steuben county so they cannot help us.

For extra information, a police officer had stopped a car who he was giving a ticket- my dad said he couldn't swicth lanes as the cars were going fast on the left, so he just maintained a normal sped in his lane (As all the other cars in his lane were also doing - he was going slow).

I contacted Rosenblum Law and they told us that no negotiations are happening on this one - So I think that means the charge itself isn't eligible for any reduction/plea deal at all in this court?

That leaves two options as far as I understand: plead guilty and take the 3 points + fine, or plead not guilty and go to an actual bench trial in front of the town court judge?

A few questions :

  1. Any guidance on how to proceed?
  2. For 1144-a, is this basically always a losing fight against the officer's testimony?
  3. Would you just self-represent for something like this, or is it worth finding a lawyer... I've contacted 3 legal teams so far and I am not really familiar with how the legal system works honestly so I am confused but the people we've contacted just let us know no negotiations are happening or that they dont deal with 1144a or steuben county so they cannot help us.
