First time stay in KL and Penang

Sorry for the question. It must have been asked many times but we are travelling in 3rd week of September. We are a couple and a toddler.
Which area is best and closest to attractions/ cafes/ malls etc. any recommendations for stay in KLCC and bukit bintang ? We are a non muslim Indian family.

For penang is it worth staying near batu ferringhini or any other beach. Or shall we stick to georgetown for stay. We are looking for a leisure stay
Which beach resort or hotel is good under 300 MYR.

Street Photoshooting in Penang

After using it mostly for portrait, finally tested it for street photography. The old CCD sensor did brings out some great colours.

Had a nice time photoshooting there, everywhere has great phototaking value.

Why does Penang LRT plan doesn't extend to the badly needed areas such as Tanjong Bungah, Batu Feringghi and Teluk Bahang?

Teluk Bahang and Batu Feringghi especially doesn't have any Grab riders for anyone living here. If you've met the locals, you would know that they're out of reach and had to resort for Bus Rapid everyday just to get to the city

What was the government thinking not pushing ease of public transit into these rural areas?

Hello!

I am coming to Penang in November and wondering which hotels are the best for a first timer, preferably something downtown, close to amenities, and easy to navigate from and to.

Thank you in advance.

Wedding Venue/Budget

Hi all, i am planning to host my wedding in Penang in 2028. We are just in the beginning stages of planning, so looking for some wedding venue suggestions, would love to hear venues you have hosted/attended a wedding and loved. Would also love to hear how much you spent, just to help with budgeting.

Show me the Penang beyond char kway teow

I’m planning a trip to Penang and would love some recommendations that go beyond the food scene.

I fully intend to eat my body weight while I’m there, but I’m particularly interested in experiencing more of Penang’s culture, heritage and everyday local life from traditional neighbourhoods, temples, clan houses, historic communities, festivals or rituals, old trades, architecture, museums, performances, markets, or anything that gives you a better understanding of the place and its communities.

I especially love experiences where you can actually observe traditions and communities in practice, rather than attractions that exist mainly for tourists.

I’m also very into live music, especially places where I can have dinner or drinks while listening to a good band, jazz, acoustic sets, traditional music, etc. So recommendations for atmospheric evening spots would be very welcome too.

What are your Penang recommendations? Locals and lesser-known gems especially appreciated!

Would like do ask those in SMEs and MNCs, how do you pick a photographer for your event?

Former wedding photographer, now venturing into event photography in Penang. When your company is organising an event, how do you actually go about choosing a photographer? What matters most to you? Portfolio, price? Fast delivery?

I'm currently putting together our event photography website, so I'd genuinely appreciate some input from people who have actually been involved in hiring photographers for company events.

If anyone's curious, here's our website:

Where locals eat

We will be in Penang for 3 nights in September. We want to eat at places where locals also eat. Please recommend the "must eat here" places for locals, from breakfast to dinner locations. Thanks in advance 🙏🏻

Motorcycle Rental Request in George Town

Hey guys, I’m currently in George Town and looking to rent a motorcycle for 1 day, or potentially a few days if possible.
I know the usual rate at motorcycle rental shops is around RM40/day, usually including 2 helmets, but I’m willing to pay RM70/day if someone is willing to rent me one.
Just to be transparent, I don’t currently have my physical motorcycle licence with me. I had a valid licence before and have been riding for years, but I went away to Australia for a few years and during that time my licence wasn’t renewed. I also lost my wallet, so I no longer have the physical licence with me.
I’m an experienced rider and have been riding motorcycles for a long time. Planning to use it to get around Penang Island and I’ll take good care of the bike.
I can provide my IC and a deposit/security if needed. Happy to discuss the terms and duration.
Anyone know of a rental shop or private owner who might be willing to rent under these circumstances? Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

Thrift Location

I think I want to repeat coming to Penang (i’ve done it twice this year), I’m looking for a pure thrift spot, I’m talking like kampung-level thrift spot, or bundle as some might say. I do want a suggestion on a curated thrift store like dopplegangger and kenyaku. I’m also open to suggestions on halal western food, deserts and affordable cafes around georgetown. Thanks!

Cheap places to get grocery/ eat

Hello hello! I’m a student moving to Penang to study soon, living in gurney drive Georgetown area ;) thus, I was wondering if there are any places that sell cheap groceries (like 99 speed mart in KL)? (If can use MyKasih it’s a bonus). Also, do you think groceries in wet markets are a lot cheaper/worth the trip? Btw, if anyone can recommend cheap places to eat in the area would be nice as well. Need help understanding Hin Bus Depot schedule

Hi everyone, I would appreciate your assistance in understanding what the 'best' day(s) to visit Hin Bus Depot are

At first, I read online that the best day to visit would be Sunday, since there is a Sunday pop-up market. However, I just chanced upon the official Hin Bus Depot website (https://hinbusdepot.com/events), which states that there is a Hin Friday Market, Hin Sunday Market, as well as different markets based on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Saturdays of the month.

If anyone has visited on different days before, could you share your experiences? How different are the shops, and if I had to pick one 'best' day to finish browsing all the shops, should it still be a Sunday? Or do I have no choice but to visit on two or more different days? Thank you
