I bought my first car for 450€

Hi, what do you think about it? It's a Peugeot 106 Phase II, 1.0 37kw/50hp. It isnt the fastest but I don't care. I haven't found any rust and it has only 127k km! Interior is nice but you can see that from the outside it doesn't look best.

Found in footwell of car

Got into the car one day and heard a little "tink". Looked down and this was in the footwell (e208 GT). It's plastic and there doesn't seem to be anything missing a piece in the car. Image search just brings up watch clasps but I don't have a watch. Any ideas?

Transmission flush vs drain and fill [Peugeot 508 GT 2019 EAT8]

56 000 miles / 90 000km.

Peugeot says this torque converter gearbox is sealed for life, but I still want to service it.

Car is now 7 years old. I see many different opinions with pros and cons on flush vs drain and fill. Money is not a thing I am considering here, if the more expensive option is genuinely better, I will go for it.

Which one to actually pick? Goal is reduce risk but also actually prolong gearbox lifetime. As per today the gearbox functions completely OK. Any gearbox / Peugeot specialists here that may know what's better?

Current project - Peugeot 207 HDi

Last project car was a Nissan R50 Pathfinder that I brought back from the brink of being scrapped but decided I’d keep my Jeep over it. Always had the euro hot hatch itch and owned more euros (SAAB’s lol) than anything and always liked the idea of a diesel tractor sounding soot belching hot hatch.

Picked this 207 HDi up as a daily/beater/hack for salvage pricing, 200km on the clock and just unloved, has had fairly good servicing over it’s life with the dealer, rough interior and exterior which is to be expected haha.

Started with a wash and polish, rubbish removal from the interior, rainbow monster anyone?? Fitted some new rubber and 308 rims, have a set of lowering springs to fit. Needed a sway bar linkage to pass roadworthy.

Have a few cosmetic updates, replacement of the yellowed front lights are probably my main priority, interior still needs a bit of work but one step at a time!

Eventually will flash the ECM and play with the exhaust but after it’s on the road and I have confidence in it haha

Seeking advice on how to value and sell a 1986 Peugeot 205 GTI (1.6l)

My wife has inherited a 1986 Peugeot 205 GTI (1.6l) from her late father. Sadly we don't have the time, knowledge, space, or money to be able to look after it properly, so we will need to sell it. However, we are not really sure about the best way to go about selling a car like this. Do we just put it up on Auto Trader, enter it into a car auction, or are there specific forums for people who collect these cars?

We also aren't really sure what sort of value to expect. The car runs well and recently passed its MOT, although the aesthetic appearance definitely needs some work from someone who is willing to put some time and money into it.

Any advice on how to go about valuing or selling the car would be much appreciated!

To be clear: This is not an advert to sell the car, as I know those are not permitted. I am just looking for advice on how to go about selling. If this breaks the rules I apologise in advance.

Peugeot 508 2.0 BlueHDi fuel consumption display changed from 0 to 999

My 2018 Peugeot 508 used to show 0 L/100km when coasting. Now it shows up to 999 instead.

Also, when I press the throttle, the instant fuel consumption slowly drops and stays around 14 L/100km.

Video attached. Has anyone seen this before?

EAT8 Gearbox oil: Do you actually change it?

Hey everyone,

I have a 2021 Peugeot 508 1.6 PureTech with 130,000 km. I believe the gearbox oil has never been changed. Now, I'm trying to decide if it's a better idea to leave it as is or to go ahead and change the fluid.
Peugeot claims that the fluid is "sealed for life," but Aisin, who obviously builds the hardware, recommends servicing it.

So, do you guys change the fluid? If yes, how did you do it? A partial drain or with a mechanical flush machine?

1969 Dogo SS-2000 Prototype

In 1969, Argentine racing driver and mechanic Clemar Bucci built a gullwing sports car that looked more like a European exotic than a small-workshop prototype.

The Dogo SS-2000 used a lightweight fiberglass body over a tubular structure, stood just 1,040 mm tall, and weighed roughly 700 kg. Under the skin, it paired a 2.0-liter Peugeot 504 inline-four with a four-speed Porsche 911 gearbox, disc brakes, and independent suspension.

Bucci’s team claimed 160 hp and a 228 km/h top speed, with plans for limited production and even a more advanced Sport Prototype version.

None of it happened.

Only one Dogo SS-2000 was built, making it one of Argentina’s most ambitious forgotten sports car prototypes.

Camshaft position values way different from reference - could this be cause of misfire or a symptom?

I posted this is another sub but didn’t have and replies, so hope it’s ok to add here. I would appreciate any help or advice on this please. The car is a manual 2014 Peugeot 308 with the infamous 1.2 Puretech engine.

Had multiple misfire and timing error codes since we bought the car. So far had the timing belt changed, oil pump strainer cleaned out, all spark plugs and ignition coils changed, new high pressure fuel pump, fuel injectors cleaned and tested, camshaft position sensors and solenoid changed. Compression tested and results were ok.

Currently has a misfire that only happens on wide open throttle, and according to the code it is always cylinder 2. (Plug, coil and injector swapped and fault stays on cylinder 2.)

Trying to investigate myself now as the car isn’t worth enough to justify spending more money at the garage.

Looking at the OBD data steam, the Exhaust camshaft Dephaser position values are way different from the reference values at idle. Driving normally the values are then pretty close to reference. If I give it full throttle to cause a misfire there is then a massive difference in the values again.

I’m wondering if this points to the cause of the problem, or is just a symptom of the car trying to deal with the misfire?

Switching from OEM 17” to OEM 18” wheels on a 2019 508 SW

Hello everyone,

To explain the context, I own a 2019 Peugeot 508 SW and I’m extremely happy with it overall.
The only small downside is that it currently has the 17-inch wheels, which are very comfortable but not especially attractive aesthetically.

I’ve always wanted to switch to the original 18-inch setup instead.

My question is whether the final look would be strictly identical to the factory configuration. I’m asking because you sometimes see cars fitted with OEM wheels that still somehow look “off”, either sitting too high or with wheels that stick out too much or sit too far inward.

It makes the upgrade even more tempting considering mine is the 1.6 THP 180 version with adaptive suspension.

Thanks in advance for your opinions and advice.

Peugeot 308 SW 1.2 PureTech 130 HP, First Registration 2023

Hey,
While looking for a new car, I came across the Peugeot 308 SW.
The car would cost 19,450 euros with just under 23,000 km. First registration is 12/2023. I’ve read bad reviews about the engine, especially for older model years, regarding the timing belt. This model also still has a timing belt installed. Has anyone here had experience with this car and especially the engine?

Servicing an E2008 without being ripped off - advice please

I need to book a two-year service for my 24MY Peugeot E2008 and Stellantis have been trying for a couple of weeks to get me to book it in with them, but it's £282 or thereabouts.

When they called again today, I asked over the phone for a service schedule because it sounds very expensive and she reeled off a list of things they check. I think the only thing they might change (or top up) is coolant. She was making a big deal of checking suspension, brake discs and pads. Suspension, sure, but brakes? There are also checks for the battery and cables etc.

Am I supposed to be happy to pay nearly £300, which may or may not be the same cost as servicing an ICE 2008, when by her own admission they are pretty much visually checking things and nothing more. It's a service, not an MOT!

Perhaps they might plug in to do a software update, but can't this be done over-the-air? (I've had one update OTA but to be honest I don't know what it did as there was no changelog).

It's my first EV and I am sure other EV owners talk of paying between £60-150, so I am looking for advice - especially any specific places I could look at going to instead (living in south Hertfordshire).

What do other people do with their EVs?

Yet another 1.5 BlueHdi story (model :508)

Hi reader!

So as much as I love the 508 Peugeot and tbh miss it I was more than happy to trade it away after year and half of ownership due to monthly headaches I had with the car.

I bought Peugeot 508 2019 with 1.5 BlueHDI motor in 2024, car had 77k km and was owned by 1 owner and religiously serviced in the Peugeot dealer with full service history hence why it gave me confidence to buy it even though I knew about the engine problems 1.5 has with the chain but I was ready to pay for the conversion kit later down the line.

1st month I noticed condensation in two rear light units and decided to investigate. Seal has completely failed and water was pooling inside of them (one trip to car wash confirmed it). I decided to order the units online and replace them myself and that's was done (was around 250-300 euros for both units).

4th month noticed the driver window started to run slow, I cleaned weather strip, siliconed the sides and it just mended a issue a bit but alas it wasnt that big od a deal (subtle foreshadowing)

8th month I had an issue where while braking I the car would jerk into a stop due to start stop function, replacing break rotors, pads and bleeding the system didn't fix it all together alongside the 1st and 2nd gear jerkiness but I decided to live with it by coming to a stop while driving a bit more aggressively or turning off start stop every time I got inside of a car.

10th month I noticed vibrations during highway and they were getting worse and worse so I had tires replaced (to Continentals all seasons were placed) and balanced but the issue was still there, checked suspension and nothing appeared out of the blue, still a bit of thumping sound was coming every so often but car drove fine.(Another subtle forshadowing)

11th month that window issue that I had? Well the cable snapped on me while I was raising the window during a rainy weather and god bless I was close to home so I hopped to my local garage and we managed to get it propped up since the door is frameless. Got it fixed in official dealer for 300 euros

12th month I did my yearly vehicle inspection and car passed ofc with flying colors, which is not what I expected due to that highway speed vibration issue I still had but since it only happened on highway I thought something else was broken.

13th month I had the car checked by Peugeot specialist garage to diag the issue and guess what, the damn steering rack was fucked, the right inside bushing failed and steering rail was hitting up and down causing the noise. Got quoted for that 1800 euros for a new rack and hands.

14th month when they finally managed to get the part the chain noise started for 3 seconds on a cold startup. I asked for the conversion kit if they can do both of them but they told me the backorder line is huge so I would have to wait and that's where I just cancelled and said fuck it.

15th month I traded the car, told the dealer the issues and got myself a 2019 Mazda 3 g122

I owned french cars in the past and I love their drive comfort and design but this one made me hate them, I don't expect the car to stay perfect forever but some issues that came up should have not come this damn early and I'm not an aggressive driver. Any case I traded the car with 105k km on the clock, 3 oil services where done on it, car was serviced from day one properly. Long term ownership of Peugeot is non existant in this day and age.

208 LED headlights – how does the beam look?

Hey everyone, I replaced the halogen dipped beam bulbs on my 208 with the projector housing with Osram H7 LED lights. I believe they are not overly bright, the cutoff is good and it does not dazzle oncoming drivers but I noticed there are two dimmer spots in the center of each headlight. Is that normal and does the beam look good?

Tips on driving T9 308

So I recently purchased a 2015 308 1.6 BlueHDI as an upgrade from my 107. This car is very different to the 107, and I feel like I might not be getting the most out of it, and am worried about damaging it. Any other owners have tips on how I should be driving it, like what revs should I be at whilst just cruising. Am I driving in a way that's healthy for the DPF by doing roughly 60 mile round trips, which regularly see me at 60+ mph, and occasionally booting it aswell. Thanks for whatever help you can give
