Help with furnishing a single room loft with fitted wardrobes, retractible bed and kitchen

Hi! I'm about to move to this small but honestly cozy loft in the next months. As you can see, it's not furnished and the distribution is a bit whack. I expect to live here for the next 3 or 4 years, so I'd like to furnish it properly.

I have no floor plan so I tried my best to recreate the space (see pics 4-6, dimensions in meters and feet) with the few measurements I took. The bed frame is retractible and is hidden inside of the fitted wardrobes during the day.

I'd like to ask for help with furnishing and decorating, since I don't really know how to deal with the overpowering cherrywood wardrobes and the white-gray kitchen; I'm renting it so I can't really make any deep changes (maybe a removable film?). The apartment has plenty of natural light and also features a pretty big balcony/terrace. I'll need a desk for work and I'm thinking of a small sofa and a comfy seat or pouf, a high table and some stools next to the kitchen.

Thanks for your help, and hope I've made myself clear !!

arranging a new living/dining room

i’m moving into this apartment this week and the living/dining layout is not straightforward. there’s a model on the floor plan, but i feel like it leaves the path to the kitchen a bit squishy. how would you arrange this room with the required furniture: a dining table with 4 chairs, couch (preferably L shaped), and TV/TV stand?

Help me redesign my office! (Looking for layout + design advice)

I'm finally ready to redesign my home office, and I'd love some fresh eyes because I feel like I've hit a wall.

This room is the first room off our living room, right when you walk into the house. It has beautiful glass French doors, so it's very visible from the main living space. I want it to feel warm, elevated, and intentional—not like a typical office.

A few things that are staying:

  • My standing desk (I'd like to keep it where it is by the front windows if possible because I love the natural light.)
  • My cat's litter box needs to stay somewhere in this room.
  • The room's function is primarily an office, but I'd love to create a cozy reading corner.

My current ideas:

  • Remove the tall white IKEA storage cabinet.
  • Put an oversized reading chair in that corner (I'm currently obsessed with the Crate & Barrel Gather Deep chair-and-a-half as inspiration).
  • Add a low walnut credenza next to it instead of another tall cabinet.
  • Potentially add a very subtle wallpaper above the chair rail only to bring in some warmth and color without overwhelming the room.
  • I'm completely open to replacing the rug.
  • I'm completely open to replacing the artwork.
  • I'd like the room to feel timeless rather than trendy.

One thing I've realized while shopping: I don't gravitate toward trendy furniture. I like pieces that feel clean, architectural, quiet, and tailored. I've discovered I really dislike fluting, cane, black metal accents, gold hardware, open shelving, and anything that feels overly farmhouse or mid-century. I seem to prefer furniture that almost feels like built-in cabinetry.

I'd especially love advice on:

  • The overall layout
  • Whether the reading chair is the right idea
  • Credenza placement and sizing
  • Wallpaper (or whether I should skip it)
  • Rug ideas
  • Art ideas
  • Lighting (floor lamp? new ceiling fixture?)
  • Whether there's anything I'm completely overlooking

I'd love for this room to feel collected and designer-worthy while still being practical enough to work from every day.

Pictures attached. Thanks in advance!

How should we set up our 2nd bedroom/baby nursery?

I’ll start off by saying I did my best to estimate the sizes of each item because I’m by no means good at measurements especially when trying to draw something out

The top picture is the way I’d prefer to have the layout for this room and the bottom picture is how my husband says he’d prefer everything

He said he’d want the crib to kind of protrude from the wall instead of sit horizontally against the wall so you could get to the baby from both sides of the crib which just does not seem like a big deal to me??

I feel like in my layout (top) there would be more area in the center of the room to move around especially if we’re trying to soothe the baby and need to walk around/bounce her

I also feel like in my husband’s layout (bottom) the dressing table area would be WAY too cramped and that it would become incredibly frustrating

He thinks his layout would be much more functional and I just cannot see that happening in my head or on paper. The crib would jut out so we’d have to walk around it and all I can picture is me absolutely exhausted in the middle of the night trying to walk around the room and constantly bumping into the crib or possibly tripping

I feel like my layout would utilize the space the best but he does not agree and I also find my layout more aesthetically pleasing which he does not care about that part of it

As of now we are definitely keeping the queen bed and the tall dresser in the room.. just need a little guidance as to which layout would make more sense? Or even if anyone has any other suggestions?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

Living room layout help

I can't figure out how to make this living room work, it has too much furniture. I will be buying a new couch. The furniture I'm keeping: couch for dog (under large window), coffee table, end table, tv.

Originally I was against having the couch in front of the large window since my back would be against it - but I may be able to get past that.

What is the best way to layout this room? Included is the couch I'm looking at buying and some drafts I came up with. The couch, I can choose from different fabric/color options. Being short, I'm having a hard time finding a couch I can comfortably sit on. I looked at sections but couldn't find one that worked for me.

Help with living room layout

Hi all. I’m conflicted about this couch in the living room. I’m wondering if anyone has ideas on how to make this room look nice.
From my perspective, this couch doesn’t really fit the room. However husband insist on keeping it. He’s potentially open to changing the orientation. Any thoughts on how to make this room presentable? Should I add plants along the visible back side of the couch? The computer will have to stay there as well.

Help

I have no idea where to have my desk and bed and what decoration should I get it’s kind of weird since the closet is open. I like seeing those videos of people with very minimal rooms that look elegant in a way like people in nyc or in Italy.

Need Help Choosing a Bedroom

I’m choosing between two bedrooms in a shared 3BHK apartment and would love some opinions from people who’ve lived in apartments long-term.
For context, I work from home 3–4 days a week, and my work involves long hours of designing, reading, and working at a computer with an external monitor.

Room A (Images 1 & 2)

Pros
Attached bathroom.
More privacy overall.
Don’t have to leave the room to use the bathroom, especially at night or while getting ready.
Cons
Slightly smaller room.
Comes with a completely fixed built-in desk that can’t be removed. The desk takes up a fair amount of usable floor space, and the ergonomics are poor. The clearance is odd enough that you can’t properly slide a chair underneath it, so it’s uncomfortable to use as an actual workstation.
Because the desk is fixed, it also limits how I can arrange the room and furniture.

Room B (Images 3 & 4)

Pros
Slightly bigger room.
Better shape and much more flexibility to set up my own workstation with a monitor.
Slightly nicer built-in dresser.
Feels more open and easier to furnish.
Cons
Bathroom is outside the room. It’s directly opposite the bedroom and would mostly be my personal bathroom, but since it’s also the common bathroom, guests would likely use it when they’re over.

Both rooms get similar natural light and are otherwise fairly comparable.

I’ll be living here for at least 2–3 years, so I’m trying to think about what will actually make me happier day-to-day rather than what looks better on paper.

For those of you who’ve lived in apartments, which compromise would bother you more over time?
Having a less-than-ideal fixed workstation in your bedroom or Having to step outside your bedroom to use the bathroom.
I’d love to hear not just which room you’d choose, but why. Photos and the floor plan are attached.

Tiny living room help

I need help figuring out how to make this a place where it feels good to sit down. My husband likes the huge tv (I do not because I feel we lose options but it stays for now). The dogs sleep in the table/crate thing. Everything is open in this small space and none of it works well but it’s a work in progress. I sold our other couch. So now I don’t want to get out of scale. How do I make this work? Any suggestions at all are appreciated.

Long, Narrow Living Room

I’m redesigning my living room and would love some fresh eyes on the layout. I uploaded:

A photo of my current living room
A rough designer floor plan/sketch
An AI rendering of one possible concept

My goal is a warm, sophisticated Four Seasons hotel lobby feel—luxurious but understated. I love taupe and soft, layered neutrals. The room is long and narrow with high ceilings, so I’m struggling to find the best furniture arrangement.

I’d love any layout ideas or design suggestions. I’m willing to spend $$$$ on a good rug. The room is way too sterile and bright white. Thanks!
