No servers showing

Hi, this evening I wanted to play a some RS2 with my friend, but when we tried to play there was no servers. Usually there’s a bunch, empty and active, but tonight nothing. We are in Aus btw, they use windows, I use Linux and both steam version.
Anyone know a solution, we both verified integrity.

Call for air support !

The AC-47 Spooky was an American First gunship aircraft developed during the Vietnam War. It was a modified version of the Douglas C-47 Skytrain, a World War II-era transport aircraft converted into a powerful close air support platform.

The aircraft was equipped with three GAU-2/A Miniguns mounted on the left side of the fuselage, allowing it to deliver continuous suppressive fire against enemy positions, especially during night operations. It was designed to support ground troops by circling over a target area in a maneuver called a pylon turn.

The pilot had to control the aircraft’s movement, maintain the correct angle, and operate the firing system to keep the side-mounted miniguns aimed at the target area. It was also equipped with powerful illumination flares to light up the battlefield at night. Bases and villages protected by the AC-47 gained a reputation for being extremely difficult to overrun, as its heavy firepower could quickly repel enemy attacks and provide crucial support to ground forces.

the AC-47 was slow and vulnerable to enemy anti-aircraft fire, it proved highly effective in defending isolated bases and supporting infantry units during the Vietnam War. Its success led to the development of later gunships, such as the AC-119 and AC-130, which continued the concept of heavily armed aircraft providing close air support.

The idea behind the AC-47 Spooky came from the need for a more effective way to provide close air support to ground troops fighting in remote areas during the Vietnam War. The concept was strongly influenced by U.S. Air Force officer Captain John C. “Jack” S. McCall, who proposed using transport aircraft as heavily armed gun platforms. The problem was that traditional fighter aircraft could only provide short bursts of fire and had limited ability to stay over a battlefield for long periods. To solve this problem, the U.S. Air Force converted the reliable Douglas C-47 transport aircraft into a gunship by installing side-firing machine guns, allowing it to circle a target area and deliver continuous fire support.

On the night of December 23, 1964, an FC-47 later redesignated as the AC-47 was called in to support the Thanh Yend outpost in the Mekong Delta, which was under heavy attack by the Viet Cong. The aircraft arrived only about 37 minutes after the request for air support. It released illumination flares to expose the battlefield before opening fire with its side-mounted miniguns.

The FC-47 fired approximately 4,500 rounds during the defense of the outpost, forcing the Viet Cong to break off their attack and retreat. The aircraft was then directed to another outpost at Trung Hung, about 20 miles away. Once again, the gunship attacked the Viet Cong positions and successfully disrupted the assault, forcing the attackers to withdraw.

These two engagements became an important demonstration of the gunship concept. By continuously circling the battlefield and directing sustained fire from its side-mounted guns, the FC-47 could remain over the target and provide prolonged fire support. Its success in the Mekong Delta helped establish the AC-47 as a highly effective weapon for defending isolated bases and villages against nighttime Viet Cong attacks.

The AC-47 Spooky first entered combat during the Vietnam War on December 15, 1964, at Bien Hoa Air Base in South Vietnam.

The early missions showed that the AC-47 was highly effective, particularly in defending bases and villages from nighttime attacks. During one test in February 1965, reports claimed that an AC-47 killed more than 300 Viet Cong fighters within only a few minutes, although this figure was an estimate from contemporary reports.

just tried hell let loose vietnam.... very dissapointed

so, I bought hell let loose and within less than one match i've requested a refund from steam.

-just feels like a walking simulator. where as in rising storm you'd have to go slowly or get killed immediately if you do that here then it seems like the points get capped so quickly that you get left behind

- you spend 3 minutes running in a straight line to get back into the action by the time you get anywhere near you have lost all concentration as nothing is happening and then get instant killed.

so bored.

What do you think of hill 937?

A lot of people hate this map and it has some flaws like a way to spawn camp the way to A and it being notoriously hard to defend but in a way it’s one of my favorite maps,

As attacking it’s fun making your way up the hill through the trenches and bunkers to pile on and capture the points

while defending is fun to defend the slopes bc that’s how your supposed to defend hill if everyone is piled in a bunker they will get overwhelmed so you gotta spread out along the hills to spread out coverage and it’s really fun finding a good way to flank attackers as the defenders and see if you can drain their tickets in time.

Been playing HLL:V and it pales in comparison

It just makes me wish this game had ground vehicles, a slightly larger map, and more players. I remember in like 2018 or 2019 seeing screenshots of an m113 they were working on, but it never happened. Nothing even comes close to how punchy and nice the gunplay in this game feels. As a long term player since the original RO game, I pour one out to this franchise. '83 is a dud, unfortunately.

What are some of the most notable updates to the game during its development that made it for the better/worse?

Whenever I watch any video related to this game, which is also at least 7+ years old, I can almost straight away notice some key differences between an early state and today's one. I was firstly impressed how different certain parts of the game are considering how old this game is.

Most noticeable ones are surely different default FOV value, font color/size, weapon sounds, certain animations and kill feed being instant and different aim sights for weapons (M1 Garand, Grease gun, just to name a few).

I must also say that some of these things should have never been removed, as it makes a game more fluid, less laggy and glitchy (especially the animations). By 'things' I mean certain weapon sounds (AK47, machine guns).

What do you think? What do you miss or don't? I'm looking forward to reading your opinions down below :)
