What is happening in Towers?
I just heard from someone that there has been two incidents that has happened in separate Tower Dorms one of which is a stabbing incident.
What exactly has happened? I couldn't find anything in Aachener Zeitung or WDR.

Hey everyone,
I want to study computer engineering. already have a C1 German certificate (TestDaF 4x4), so language itself isn’t really the issue.
I’ve already taken courses like math, physics, electrical circuits, programming, etc. at my university in my home country, but I’d like to go over them again in German before starting at RWTH so I can get used to the terminology and not feel lost in lectures.
Do you guys have any recommendations for books, YouTube channels, websites, or other resources in German? Ideally the kind of stuff RWTH students actually use.
Thanks!
I'm 16 rn, and I'm going to be 17 in 15 days. Rn in high school last year. For the college, I'm thinking of getting into RWTH. But studying in aboard, I already know it's not going to be easy + it's very expensive. So should I come to Germany for my bachelor’s— I know, should that's what I want but am totally confused about where to start what to do.
Please, if anyone is there so help me to figure it out. I'm so ANXIOUS rn.
Thank you very much.
This is a friendly reminder that you can request to also use a regular physical ticket instead of the BS going on with Naveo app. Took a while, got mine yesterday, got controlled today. Best feeling ever.
Hello everyone, how's the climate in Germany especially during heatwaves? And how do you manage to keep cool without airconditioning units in your Apartments?
Hi everyone!
I'm looking for participants for my Bachelor's thesis survey about AI-generated advertising and consumer perceptions.
The survey is in English and I'd be happy to complete your survey in return. Just leave your link in the comments after you've finished mine!

Thank you so much—I really appreciate your help, and I'll gladly return the favor!
Hey yall, hope this finds you well. I wish to start my studies at RWTH in Wintersemester 26/27 and was hoping if any former or current students can help me out with a quick question!
When should i start applying for housing? As soon as possible, meaning now, or do i wait until there’s houses up for rent in like august or smth?
Hi folks,
The Studierendenwerk Aachen application portal says 30 years age limit. I will turn 30 a week before my first semester starts. I am confused if the age limit is considered when I submit the application, or based on my inscription date?
Also I am looking to enroll in Winter 2027 semester, is it too soon for me to submit the application right away? The program I am eyeing is NC free and I do qualify the requirements.
Also I saw the options listed on Studierendenwerk Aachen but couldn't find an option without communal kitchen. If I want a private kitchette setup, is private Studio/1-Zimmer apartment the only option? If yes, is 600-800/month warm rent a good maximum estimate for such a situation?
Thanks!
Hi everyone,
I am planning to apply for the Bachelor’s program in Mechanical Engineering (Maschinenbau) at RWTH Aachen for the Winter Semester 2027.
Since the program is taught in German, I need to prove a C1 proficiency by the application deadline in July 2027. I am aiming for telc C1 Hochschule, TestDaF, or Goethe-Zertifikat C1.
As of right now, I am starting completely from scratch (A0). This gives me exactly 13 months to reach a rock-solid C1 level.
I am fully aware that C1 German is incredibly challenging, especially when dealing with university-level engineering vocabulary. I am highly motivated and willing to put in intensive daily study hours, but I want to get a realistic reality check from people who have actually done this or are currently studying at RWTH.
A few questions I have:
1.Is this timeline actually achievable? If you went from zero to C1 in about a year, what did your daily study schedule look like?
2.Is telc C1 Hochschule a better/more passable option than TestDaF for university admission? Which one would you recommend for someone on a tight schedule?
3.What are the best resources for an intensive route? (e.g., specific textbook series, online courses, or academies that actually work for rapid progression).
When should I pivot to exam-specific preparation? If my deadline is July 2027, when is the latest I should sit for the exam to make sure results arrive on time?
4.How brutal is the language barrier in the first semester at RWTH? Even if I pass a C1 exam, will it be enough to understand advanced engineering lectures right away?
Any advice, harsh truths, or roadmap suggestions would be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
