I run a pub trivia company in the Denver area. I’m looking for fun, high-energy people to host trivia nights!

Details:

  • Pay is $50 per game (~1.5 hours of hosting)
  • Free food & beer at most venues
  • Meet New People– you’ll host at the same location each week, so you can build relationships with your regulars
  • We provide all equipment – you just show up and run the show

If you like entertaining crowds, and this sounds like a fun side gig to you, click the link below!

Ice uptick?

I don't want to be reactionary or paranoid but in the last week I have seen two completely abandoned cars in weird circumstances.

One was in the middle of the street on a residential neighborhood like it was parked but in the middle of the street no one was there it wasn't near a house or in front of a house in a way that the person could have run in there.

The second was on the median on snelling by 94.

The car was pulled up on the median and no one was around. Windows were down.

Kind of worried that there might be a bit of an increase in ice activity. I know they never left but it just seemed kind of strange.

Happy to hear other points of view and discussion of other possible reasons for both of these situations I obviously understand that there are many.

Any commentary that is racist or pro Ice can go fuck themselves, respectfully.

Why is there caution/ yellow tape around Mears Park Place?

I drove past tonight (08/18) and noticed most of the entrances were all yellow taped up.

I used to live in the building so just curious if something happened. It still looked like people were in the building having a normal night.

Wondering if anyone knows anything.

Ramsey County Sheriff parking stationary vehicles as license plate readers & more?

For the last 2 weeks they have consistently left a cruiser parked here and running all day and sometimes all night on Harriet Island facing lilydale road.

Anyone know what other technology they may be deploying to remind us we live in a surveillance state?

Looking for a good Fence guy and a good plumber

I have a fence post that is starting to lean badly with a cement base, and the water pressure in my house is not great. If I'm going to spend money I don't want to spend, I'd like to spend it in my city.

MN Burger Week -- The Last Hurrah!

To wrap up MN Burger Week, I visited Mac's Diner in North St. Paul this evening for the cheese curd burger. My only criticism is that it could've used a few pickles to cut the fat of the cheese. Solid attempt, though.

Job Oppurtunities

Hello all, I recently just moved from Des Moines to the area and am looking for a change. I am working on sobriety and have a solid base under me at this point. Took a job out of treatment working minimum wage and it’s been great to help me build a routine. I’m just looking to apply myself and ya know earn a bit more.

I don’t have a degree or any certifications. I have experience in delivery driving and as a warehouse manager for a home staging company. I’ve done the Amazon DSP work before and not really looking to get back into that grind. I have a few background check things that seem to be holding me back on indeed. No felonies but looking for a fresh start and open to really anything if you guys have some suggestions on where to start.

Thanks in advance!

From the Preface:

The greatest upheaval in modern times, the first stage in the world revolution, calling into question the existence of the capitalist system everywhere, shook American life as it did life in every corner of the globe. No serious understanding of twentieth-century cultural life, its greatest triumphs and greatest retreats, and our current challenges as well, is possible without considering the impact of the socialist movement and its decades-long struggle to raise the thinking and activity of the working class, culminating in the 1917 Revolution. Of course, the impact of the October Revolution was most direct and inseparable for the Russian-Soviet artists themselves, Eisenstein, Shostakovich, Gorky and others.

Moving to the St. Paul area

Hi! I’ll be moving to the St. Paul area for a master’s program at Concordia University and I’m not very familiar with the area yet. I’ll be bringing my puppy (he'll be 70ish lbs), so I’m looking for somewhere dog-friendly.

I’m hoping to stay around $1,200/month or less for rent and would ideally like to be within about a 30-minute commute of Concordia. I’m open to surrounding areas as well.

For anyone familiar with the area:

  • What neighborhoods/cities would you recommend?
  • Are there any apartment complexes you’d recommend (or recommend avoiding)?
  • I'm looking for somewhere I feel safe walking around, lower crime too... if that's possible.

I’d really appreciate any recommendations or advice!

Best local orgs/grassroots groups to donate blankets, winter gear, towels?

Hi folks! I am helping my 80 y/o grandma downsize/move, and now I have lots of blankets, jackets, gloves and hats, and towels to donate. What are the best hands to get these items into so they go to our community members most in need? TIA :)

Manga at local bookstores?

Are there any local bookstores that sell manga at all? I think its probably a better option than to buy from Barnes and Noble all the time.

Shaded trails in Saint Paul?

I recently went to walk along Minnehaha Creek west of Lyndale in Mpls for the first time in many years and forget how awesomely shaded the paved and dirt walking/running trails are. Are there trail areas similar to that amount of shade and tree cover (in woods or along water) in good ol StP for a beginning trail jogger?
