TIL that 7'7" former basketball player Robert Bobroczkyi is going to be in the upcoming Backrooms movie

Just found this out today, very cool seeing him in another horror film. I remember watching his training videos years ago and feeling bad that basketball didn't work out. Just really happy he found a new path, honestly think he'll do great.

Have you heard of TCI?

Have you heard of Tall Club international?

I have a tall friend (6’4) who told me about it and apparently he’s trying to recruit more people for his chapter because it’s all mostly old people.

Is this more of an older club in general or are tall people under 40 aware of it?

We’re flying a lot this year. Advice on making trips more comfortable.

I tried googling an answer and the articles were “upgrade.” What are some things you do to make flying more comfortable as a tall person. Especially if you fly SW.

Not accepting: “walk around,” or “upgrade.”

Here’s what I do: 1. Avoid the first row the seats are more narrow and the baggage thing is annoying especially if you have to move back to get it as a tall person. 2. Compression socks—I hate them but they work. 3. Restful Legs supplements(?) helps me with my restless-leg syndrome I seem to get while flying. 4. A butt pillow. It’s a bit awkward but it boosts me up a few inches taking pressure off of my knees and helping my back not hurt.

What are yours?!

Pros and cons of a tall person that likes pull ups

I like working out, and I like pullups.

what I don't like is to bend my knees to 90 degree angle while doing it. almost every normal pull up bar in gyms are designed like that more or less.

so it has driven me to look for other spots to do my pull ups. these are only a few representative examples, but I've learned to look for trees, construction sites, basketball courts, and so on...

at first I was kinda depressed that I wasn't fitting in, but then I discovered the privilege of being able to use certain infrastructure and high bars, high tree branches etc..

Best jeans for 6'9" 40-something?

Hello tall folks! So I'm your typical bloke in his 40s that favoured a dark skinny jean throughout the 2010s (basically example 1).... I've noticed in recent years the trend has gone to a wider leg/relaxed loose fit, and so after spotting a pair in my size recently, i thought I'd try it (example 3).

I'm somewhere between a 34->36 waist, with a 36->38 leg, and it seems to vary depending on the retailer, which can be frustrating when you're completely restricted to online shopping only... So as you all will relate, I don't feel I have much choice out there, so happy to wear anything that just fits!

I don't want to follow fashion trends & just want to wear what suits my tall frame/age tbh, and I actually like all 3, they're all comfortable.... But I'm also wondering what suits me best ? Do I really need to throw out the slim/skinnys now? 🤣

PSA: You should be wearing tall-sized shirts

A standard-length small, medium or large may fit your torso, but it is not long enough. Every time you raise your arms above your chest you are flashing your midriff, your short sleeves often look comically short; you look like a short person wearing a kid's size.

You should only wear tall-length shirts, especially if they're untucked. Yes, this means you are very limited to where you can shop and will usually need to buy clothes online. Accept it. Find styles you like at places that do you have your size. No matter how nice a shirt is, it does not look good if it does not fit you. This is the price we must pay for our gorgeous tall bodies. This is our burden.

This may be obvious to some, but it has taken me (33m 6'4") a long time to understand and fully accept. I wish I had more options, but accepting I don't and wearing what's fit me has improved my look and made me feel more comfortable in my clothes.

What is something you didn’t expect about being tall until you became tall?

What I mean is before and after exceeding average height.

EDIT: added clarity

Store for Mens Jackets in US for 54 Tall

So I'm not merely tall, I'm wide. Think an NFL tight end without the athletic ability.

I want to buy a new blazer, and it's impossible to find anything over 48 these days. Does anyone have any suggestions for a store?

I can say buck mason and State and liberty won't work, per todays checking

I look like an ape next to my girl

Was watching a reality tv show with her recently and we saw a couple that had a tall guy and short women. It looked so silly and out of place and found that we share the exact same height as them.

My God, I look like a giant next to her. For some reason I don’t perceive the difference unless I see it externally but my goodness.

Cargo Vans

I know there are a lot of car recommendation threads here. Well let me tell all of you I solved it. I had to rent a 9' cargo van today and the driver's seat was amazing! For once I sat high enough with enough leg room and headroom that I didn't even think twice about either of those things. I was able to sit up tall the way I like, the rearview mirror didn't obstruct significant portions of my field of view, and I felt like I had great command of my surroundings.

It was a little loose on the steering, the MPG is crap, and the materials they used on the interior were a little too utilitarian. But on the whole I think we should be seriously considering cargo vans in any future car threads here.

The way it felt after knowing your true skeletal height feels like a lie

I know I'm just not the person who fits well here, but i hope many of you have experienced a difference of what your actual height is vs how you actually look, talk about me when you make me stand against a pole or wall with height markings/numberings you'd see a solid 5 10 - 5 11 , yes barefoot with hair tucked down properly, but as soon as i measure it with the help of a stadiometer in a clinic or hospital, it shrinks massively to 176 cm,

And not often but people do often mistake me for being 6ft at some times ,

Have any of you faced any similar issue?

Steelcase Leap V2 for 6'7, 270 lb man?

I'm itty bitty. But I've been tasked with setting up an office for a new coworker who is 6'7, and a super nice guy. He won't start until August. He's been very "oh whatever you get me is fine" which just makes me want to get it right all the more.

I've found that the Steelcase Leap V2 is supposed to have maximum adjustability and be very suitable for the extra tall guys. I've seen the Herman Miller Aeron, but that's absolutely going to be out of budget. My office has a relationship with a business that sells remanufactured (and warrantied) Steelcase, so I think I can get the Leap v2 nearly in budget.

Any similarly tall folks who can give feedback? I don't want to spend so much and get it wrong, but if I just take him to the local office big-box they won't have nicer stuff like steelcase. And he's so chill he really will take anything. (He's okay with just adequate, but I want to knock it out of the park.)

If you've read this far: Any other office adjustments you'd recommend?

Can y’all help me deal with this insecurity - taller than boyfriend in photos

Hey guys, I’m not that tall, but I’m a 5’11 woman who’s dating a 5’7 man.

For the most part, I don’t notice it toooo much (It’s been a journey anyway). But photos when we’re both standing next to each other do get to me, even after over a year of being together. I feel like I look like a giant next to him, and I just can’t seem to stop disliking this so much. It makes me insecure and body conscious.

I do feel like I need to get over this, because it really makes me think about the future and the fact that if we e.g. got married and grew old together, all our photos would continue to look like this, and this would continue to be an area I need to work on. I love him so much, so I want to deal with this for good, because I really can’t fathom feeling insecure about this with him for my whole life. It’s honestly got to the point where idk if I could handle that. And I HATE THAT. I wish I didn’t feel this way, please believe me.

I’ve been told my whole life about how I should make sure I’m with a tall man because I’m tall for a woman, and of course we all have been raised with the expectations that the man should be taller than the woman in a relationship. Even now that I’m with my boyfriend, a lot of friends and family have commented on our height difference in a negative way. So it does get to me. But really, the most important thing/ biggest issue is the photos. I just hate looking at photos of us standing together so much.

Being tall and wearing heels

Being tall and wearing heels as a woman is a special kind of pain... right ? You get to enjoy the “wow, you’re so tall!” compliments… while simultaneously hitting every doorframe, tram handle, and low-hanging branch in existence ;=)
It’s like a superpower, but instead of flying, your mission is dodging furniture and awkward stares. Glamorous? Sure. Fun? Sometimes. Worth it? Well… at least the legs look great in photos... My 2 cents of the day. Tired.
