To start I wanna say that this is no shade to fandom in general, I have been part of plenty. However, I feel like when it comes to real people, calling their fans a "fandom" implies something different than calling them a "community". I do not see myself as part of the Adam McIntyre "fandom". I am a fan of Adam's work and like the way he comes across in videos, but I do not know him beyond that. To me, fandom in terms of real people is usually formed either because the person has turned themself into a character, or they reveal a lot about their personal life to their fans(aka storytime youtubers and daily vloggers). It is parasocial to a higher degree, which is not always a bad thing but just doesn't feel like a correct reading of Muckers as a whole (hole 🕳️🫣). When I think of irl fandoms, I think of Dan and Phil, DSMP, Roosterteeth, Gabbie and Colleen even if we wanna be topical. I dont consider myself in the "fandom" of any of the youtubers I watch, even if i am a fan of them. Does anyone else feel this way or am I off base?

Also, whether or not you agree with my take, I really do think leech is using 'fandom' with a negative connotation.

I saw people talking about Cassie and Helloleesh (who she did a recent pod with whose 16) assuming that they met from Alicia being a family friend. This video I found explains how that is not accurate. The “minnie” section is about her.

Essentially, she was a gabbie fan leaving her comments when she was 10 and then she became a fan/friend (??) of Alicia’s. I am not and no one was at the time saying this was predatory but also it is not appropriate either. I hate that I know this childs name when I shouldn’t but I do because Alicia put her out there.

The reason Alicia was cancelled in 2021 wasn’t really the whole she said slurs thing. People went back and found shit her on her because they noticed how she was doing similar things that she made ENDLESS video critiquing Gabbie on but with her she thought it was fine. Like talking to young fans like this.

Gabbie shouldn’t have been talking and grooming her young fans in the way that she was. Alicia needs to have WAY more boundaries with her followers and such than they do still.

Finished watching Adam’s video on hello fresh and i can’t stop thinking about how she like “im not asking you to know my whole life story “/ “i don’t care about adam story with Colleen” but twenty minutes ago she was trauma dumping on us and then twenty minutes after that she was doing the same thing again when saying “adam has alot to learn i know i did when i was getting sober”.

Like her video was so weird to me no points were made what so ever and just hypocritical like Spences and Jens were.
