I found my new name 😁🏳️‍⚧️

I (23F) finally settled on what i’d like my female name to be, My name is now Jade! I was wanting a name that started with J, Julia, Jade, Jessica. Jordyn, And randomly Madi were all names I was thinking about but I like the shortness and simplicity of the name Jade and I feel it sounds pretty 🤩, I’m so happy with how my journey has began and is going. This community is so supportive and amazing in so many ways, pat yourselves on the back. 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️

What name suits me?

I'd rly like a unique name that starts with S and preferably has some whimsical meaning lol:P

I still don't have a name. I thought about the name Dylan/Dillan. What do you think. Any other suggestions.

I have posted here before but I am still stumpted. I am not comfortable with posting myself online so I use some picrews instead. I think this gives a better example of how I look irl.

I will stick with L middle names. First name D or J.

Old name does not suit me anymore, I think.

I’ve went by Ethan since 2022-ish because one of my friend had “named me” (they gave me a few options to help and I liked Ethan), and I feel like I don’t identify with that anymore, and feel kinda uncomfortable having a name that someone I know personally had given me. I have no idea what else I could possibly pick.

Name suggestions?

What name suits me as a gender fluid / non binary person? I’ve been using Nova for the past year but I’m not sure if I like it anymore.

Name ideas?

Im Lithuanian so anything that can have -as added onto the end without sounding stupid is a plus but whatever honestly— i enjoy nature-themed names but go wild!

Name Advice?

I like a name very similar to my current one (think Kailey vs Kalen), but I’ve been told some people won’t remember or bother to refer to me as my new name because the first vowel/syllable is the same as my old one.

Any advice from people who’ve changed their name but kept the same first syllable or letter? Did people use your new name? Did they keep referring to you as your old name because it’s too similar?

Thanks.

Nicholas-name for Teddy?

So I’ve been going by Teddy since I came out in 2018, short for Laurent for complicated and stupid reasons, but eight years on I still don’t respond to Laurent and I’m sick of explaining it (plus people think my name is Lauren half the time lol). SO! Since I might be able to get a legal name change in the near future, I’m in the market for a new professional/“full” name, bc Teddy looks stupid on a resume, especially as a law student.

GOALS:

  1. Could conceivably shorten to Teddy with less explanation

  2. Something I could put on a resume and lawyers will hire me

CURRENT OPTIONS:

  1. Edmund Jade Leander [lastname] — objectively best for the stated goals but idk if it really fits me

  2. Tybalt Jay Leander [lastname] — unanimously agreed upon amongst those closest to me but it is kind of gay as hell

  3. Leander Teddy Jay [lastname] — easy/safe option! Just switching the order of the names I already got but I don’t really like Teddy as a middle name

Unfortunately I know too many Theos/Theodores for any of those easy options to be workable, but otherwise up for other suggestions! (Also not particularly fond of Edward or Edwin for Ed-based names but I’m not mad at Edgar/probably other ones)

Help me pick a non-binary name? :)

Hey everyone! I’m looking for a new name and would love some suggestions!

I’m looking for something gender-neutral/androgynous, but any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

name help (for me)

So, I'm transmasc and I want a new name. I've been going by erin for a while, but it feels kinda wrong. I want to name myself something related to anteaters and tamanduas.

I've seen a lot of trans or nonbinary people name themselves cool non-name things and I wanna do it too

My mom called me by a girls name in a dream, but I don't know if I should use it

(For context, I'm still in the closet to my family. I also want to keep my initials, so my new name needs to begin with an E)

The other day my mom told me that had I been a born a girl she'd have called me Evelyn/Evie and that she only didn't call my younger sister that because our dad didn't like it.

Fast forward a few days and I dream I'm out to everyone and presenting femme in public and my mom calls me Evie. I spent the whole next day stunned at my mom calling me by a female name, even if it was just a dream.

I love Evelyn/Evie as a name (more so than the name I've been experimenting with), but there's two problems:

  1. My (very brief) first girlfriend when I was 16 was called Evie (but not short for Evelyn).

  2. If you're a fan of the Mummy films, you'll know Evelyn/Evie is the name of the main female character. This is only a problem because I have a degree in Archaeology, have just started my first full-time job as an Archaeologist, and I studied the Egyptian language and scripts in university. So choosing Evelyn/Evie as my real name just feels... too much? Like people won't take me seriously that I'm a trans woman who can read ancient Egyptian, who chose the name Evie.

At the same time, I feel more like Evelyn/Evie than Emily, which is the name I'd hitherto been considering.

I'd just be grateful for any feedback on this.

- E (whatever that E may eventually stand for)

Think I've chosen the name, just wanna make sure

Is Ophelia a bad name? No it's not that song, or that other song, it's that other other song. It's one that I've wanted to name a kid for a while but now that I'm transitioning, it feels like the perfect time to use it.

Help me pick my middle name

Hi everyone! Im Emery and I’m planning to change my whole name when I get married! I’m stuck between two middle names, so it would either be Emery Jasper, or Emery Aelin. My previous middle name is a J so that’s part of why I chose Jasper, where I like Aelin because it’s a play on my deceased sisters name Michaela. What are your thoughts! Feel free to drop other suggestions below!

What should a new name feel like?

Does the right name make you feel sexy, especially when uttered by a lover? Does seeing it written down on official documents make you feel powerful? Should your name name you feel whole, where your old name felt incomplete or ill-fitting? Does the right name feel like love, like inclusion, like understanding, like an interest in your inner world? Does it feel like a warm greeting, an inside joke, an exclamation of excitement?

I'm also curious about those who aren't that invested in a name. Just need to have a string of letters that make a coherent noise that you recognize as referring to you. It need not be original or non-binary or subversive. Easy to spell and pronouns and solicits no follow-up questions about its origin.
