Sergio was already vegan. He still couldn't lose the weight
If you've been vegan for years but still struggle with your weight, energy, confidence, or consistency, you're not alone. Sergio felt the same way.
Sergio had been vegan for years, but despite caring about animals and wanting to live a healthier lifestyle, he wasn't seeing the results he wanted. He felt frustrated looking in the mirror and knew something needed to change.
Six months later, he was over 30 pounds lighter, stronger, more confident, and finally proud of the progress he had made.
We put Sergio on a tailored training plan to focus on building muscle, losing fat and ensuring enough recovery to drop pounds each week.
We created a meal plan with foods he enjoys, and implemented a meal off plan per week that allowed Sergio to enjoy new foods while still burning fat. That's when everything clicked.
Fat los, strength, confidence, and a physique that reflects the message he wants to share. Now, this is exactly what the Vegan Squad Coaching Scholarship is for.
But it's not for everyone.
To qualify, you need to:
- Already be working out (or ready to start immediately)

- Actually want results, not another "start and stop" cycle
If that sounds like you, apply here.

What’s the deal with training calves?
Let me break it down:
Standing calf raises (Straight leg) trains the Gastrocnemius muscle in your calves, which is the large of the calf muscle.
Seated calf raises (Bent leg) trains the Soleus muscle, AKA, the smaller of the two calf muscles.
And so, having your leg straight will grow your calves more than if your leg is bent because you’re training the larger of the 2 calve muscles.
With this knowledge, I would prefer to program more standing over seated calf raises for my clients if possible, and only straight leg if you could only pick 1.
Vegan 20 years. Still pulling PRs. Turns out soy boy was the way to go.
How a vegan diet slowly ruined my physique
Are you hesitant to remove animal products from your diet?
Do you worry this decision will negatively impact your health or physique?I’ve personally only seen positive results from going vegan, along with hundreds of my clients.
When we see stories of “ex vegans” who claim veganism harmed their health, it’s usually because:
-They were underrating
-They were not eating the right foods to cover their nutritional needs
-They were following extreme diets within veganism (fruitarian, fully raw)-They claimed to be vegan but “still ate meat sometimes”Veganism isn’t just a diet or fad.
It’s all for the animals. But that doesn’t mean your health or physique needs to suffer.
That’s exactly what we help you dial in with the vegan squad coaching, so you can lose fat, build muscle, and stop guessing with your nutrition.

THIS is why I went from being vegetarian to vegan at 13 years old…
The egg industry forces male baby chicks to be ground up alive within hours or even minutes of being born because male chickens are not deemed useful in the egg industry.
Mother hens are confined to tiny cages their whole lives, being forced to lay more eggs than their body can handle causing severe pain and stress.
After I realized what happened to baby chicks AND the mother hens in the egg industry, I knew I couldn’t contribute to that anymore.
And that’s why I post what I post, to wake people up to the lies society has told us growing up and to show people the truth behind what everyone considers “food”.
If you need help making the switch from vegetarian to vegan or pre-vegan to vegan, Here’s our free RESOURCES library that will help you thrive.
Every choice starts with *you*
Whether it’s reading more, journaling, meditating, trying a new workout, or reaching for a vegan option — it all comes back to your *why*. Why it matters, how it benefits you or others, and how it shapes the reality you want to live in.
For me, I choose vegan options to align with my values: protecting animals, nourishing my body, and preserving the planet. I meditate, journal, and move my body daily to show up as my best self — so I can spread compassion, peace, and abundance to others.
Choosing vegan is a step toward the compassionate world we all dream of — one where kindness extends to animals, the planet, and ourselves. With every meal, we have the power and *choice* to create harmony within ourselves and around us.
I'm 45 years old, vegan, and still building muscle.
I'm 45 years old, vegan, and still building muscle.
Every time I post a physique photo, I get the same comments:
"Steroids." "Peptides." "AI generated." "A vegan can't look like that."
What's interesting is that nobody ever asks about my training, recovery, sleep, or nutrition.
Why is it easier for people to believe that a man over 40 must be using drugs than to believe that years of consistent training and nutrition actually work?
I'm not saying steroids don't exist. Obviously they do.
I'm asking why so many people assume that being muscular after 40 is impossible without them.
Have we lowered our expectations of what's achievable through discipline?
Genuine question:
What's the strongest, fittest, or healthiest person over 40 that you've personally met?
I'd love to hear some real-world examples.
Please lets stop this and live vegan for them
this is just so wrong the way we treat these sentient beings like objects, my heart breaks when i see all these

A question to fellow vegans living abroad
When you go shopping in a supermarket, you find a product that looks vegan, but you’re not a native speaker of the language on the packaging, and there's no vegan label, how do you trust that it's actually vegan?
Is there an app that tells you if this product is vegan?
You Can Be Strong After 40 on a Plant-Based Diet
One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is that getting older means getting weaker.
I disagree.
Being over 40 doesn't mean you stop building muscle or improving your fitness. It means your recovery, nutrition, and consistency become even more important.
A well-planned plant-based diet can provide the protein, carbohydrates, healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals needed to support strength and performance. The real secret isn't a magic supplement—it's showing up every week, eating enough quality food, sleeping well, and staying active.

I believe strength is one of the best investments you can make for your future. More muscle supports mobility, balance, independence, and quality of life as you age.

You don't have to train like a professional athlete. You just have to stay consistent.

I'm Steve Pilot, passionate about fitness, plant-based nutrition, and helping people stay healthy and strong for decades—not just for summer.

If you're over 40, what has been your biggest challenge: building muscle, losing fat, or staying consistent?
“Plant Protein isn’t bioavailable” Myth DEBUNKED…
It’s time to stop spreading misinformation about plant protein and to tell the truth. People often think that if you’re plant-based, you need to constantly supplement with EAAS and BCAAS, but in reality, that’s not the truth.
The truth is that ALL plants are complete proteins, and while some have different amino acids profiles than others, you don’t have to worry about it if you’re eating a variety of plants and not just beans all day.
The key is to eat a variety of plants to ensure that you’re optimizing your protein for the muscle building results that you want - You do not need to combine all your amino acids in a single meal. Eating a diverse mix of plants throughout the day provides a complete amino acid profile.
How to create a balanced, high protein vegan meal
1.) Pick a carb (Quinoa, Rice, Buckwheat, Farroh, Bulgur, Pasta)
2.) Pick one or two veggies (broccoli, sweet potatoes, brussel sprouts, zucchini, asparagus, carrots, any one you like!)
3.) Choose a protein of at least 12 g per serving, don’t hesitate to do two servings! (Tofu, Tempeh, Vegan Bulgogi from Trader joes, Vegan Ground Beef, Textured Veggie Protein, Vegan Chicken, Vegan Steak)
Who STILL thinks you can’t build muscle without meat?
News flash: You can.
I’m John Thomas and I’ve been bodybuilding for 18 years and vegan for 20. I was once told that I would never be able to build muscle without meat, but look where I’m at today.
And not just me, but my whole @vegansquadcoaching team and all of our clients.
It IS possible to build muscle as a vegan - if you use the correct protein sources.
By that, I mean Tofu, Seitan, Edamame, TVP, Tempeh, etc.
Not seeds, beans, nuts, oats, and peanut butter.
Those are carb/fat sources - not main plant protein sources.
If you wanna learn how to build muscle as a vegan, my cookbook would be the first step.
There’s 30+ high protein vegan recipes in there that are simple, easy, and delicious!
I'm 33. Been vegan for almost 21 years and bodybuilding for 18. Ask me anything about nutrition, training, and PED use as a vegan. Any question is welcome. Thank you for being vegan 🙏💚🌱
In these 20 years as a vegan, I’ve been met with a lot of criticism and misinformation. The first time I ever stepped into a public gym, a trainer told me, “You need meat to build muscle.”
I proved the trainer wrong and built an impressive physique by my early 20s before my first bodybuilding competition.
Here’s a side-by-side of myself as a vegan in 2012 at 200 lbs, fully natural (not even caffeine), and today (13 years later) at 270 lbs, fully not natural and still vegan (until I die): https://imgur.com/a/bJGcHfJ
I didn’t quite plan to become vegan, or a bodybuilder, they just felt right to me at the time, but now with my platform (both my physical presence and online social media) I view it as my responsibility to share the message that hit so hard to me: the animals need our help.
I have seen misinformation holding a lot of people back from giving the vegan lifestyle a try. The truth is, it’s not that difficult to get all the protein you need on a plant-based diet.
I use a variety of protein sources like TVP, seitan, tofu, tempeh, mock meats, and of course some from foods like beans, lentils, and nutritional yeast.
Over the years in the gym and learning about vegan nutrition I became a coach. I have worked with over 500 people, showing them how to thrive on a plant-based diet.
Any question is welcome. Thank you for being vegan 🙏💚🌱
What if there were a one-stop marketplace where every purchase could align with your values?
Today, we’re joined by Jonathan Faran, (@jonathanfaran) co-founder of Vegan America, (@vegan__america) a rapidly growing plant-based marketplace that’s been described as a vegan version of Amazon and Costco.
Although the platform launched just last November, it already features hundreds of sellers and tens of thousands of products spanning food, fashion, cosmetics, household goods, gifts, and services.
Jonathan shares the personal experience that inspired the idea for Vegan America: the surprisingly difficult search for a pair of vegan dress shoes.
That challenge led him to a broader realization that living vegan extends far beyond food, with animal-derived ingredients often hidden in everyday products consumers rarely think about.
