[Friedman] Robertson has indicated he will file for arbitration, which will also eliminate the possibility of an offer sheet for him. 5 ET is official deadline. If eligible players do not go this route, teams have until tomorrow to decide if they will
xcancel.comAnyone else feeling better and better about the Kap contract?
I think that signing is ultimately going to age like fine wine with how star players are getting paid. I think Carlsson is far from the only player getting more than 17M AAV this year, and most of them are worse than, or even with Kaprizov.
Outsider questions - A) since Zucc is gone, who plays with Kaprizov and Hartman? B) Does Coleman replace Hartman on PP1?
Barring any major additions before the start of the season with the limited cap space there is:
- Kap - Hartman - X?
- Coleman - JEEK - Boldy
- PP1: Kap - Boldy - JEEK - Coleman - Hughes?
Vlad to Montreal?
Saw a random article that mentioned the Canadiens being interested in Vlad. How are we feeling about this if it’s true? I can kinda see him meshing well there. I still hate to see him go though
[Flyers] Flyers have made an offer sheet worth 18M to Leo Carlsson. Contract would be 5x18M, worth 4 1st round picks
xcancel.com[Friedman] “I can confirm that we have had positive conversations with GM Jason Botterill, and he has agreed to move Shane this summer to a team in need of a top young centre,” Wright’s agent, Kurt Overhardt, said Wednesday.
Is Larkin even possible?
Is anybody else getting really tired of the Larkin talks? I think it's pretty clear we don't have the assets to get him. I don't think we're getting him unless we move Jeek, Faber, or Boldy, and I think all three of those guys are better players than Larkin (Jeek and Larkin are equivalent I guess)
We should move on and find someone else right? Anybody have a trade package idea that actually works for Larkin?
Thanking Our Casualties
All the luck to these guys with their next teams. We will always remember the love they brought to the ice
Hlavaji Sign with Maple Leafs
Guess he’s not going back to Europe after all.
Center
Do we have an option of signing a free agent for center with our limited cap space or do we have to do a trade? Is that why we are still stuck on Larkin?
Edited to add: I'm new to hockey as of last fall, so I don't have all the UFA/RFA terms down.
Current offensive roster breakdown - If the season started tomorrow, what would our lines look like?
I'ma break down the offensive roster quick, listing players in approximate order of competency (don't get hung up on this please).
| Pos | Players |
|---|---|
| RW options | Hartman, Brink, Yurov, Shabanov, McCarron, Haight |
| C options | Eriksson Ek, Hartman, Yurov, McCarron, Coleman, N. Foligno, Sturm, Trenin, Haight |
| LW options | Kaprizov, Boldy, Hartman, Coleman, Shabanov, M. Foligno, Trenin |
I tried to research to make sure I was getting guys in the right places but if I completely whiffed (either by not putting someone in a position they can play or by putting them in a position they've never played), let me know. Obviously some guys are versatile and can play a few different spots, hence the names showing up multiple times. Four of our current RW options have C overlap, and our top-end Cs are still underwhelming, so we're in a tough spot. Trying to piece the lines together in my mind and I genuinely just don't know, we're definitely gonna have to put guys on the 1st/2nd that don't belong there and/or pull people out of their natural position to make up for our lack of right-handed shots.
Shabanov didn't see much top line time in NY last year but I think his playstyle matches up with Kaprizov's really well, so I wouldn't be surprised if GMBG sees him as a Zucc replacement who can pass but is more willing to shoot. Here's my current prediction:
Kaprizov - Hartman - Shabanov
Boldy - Eriksson Ek - Coleman (out of position)
Trenin - Yurov - Brink
Foligno - McCarron - Foligno (out of position)
If we were to acquire Larkin, we could push Hartman out to the Right Wing, presumably Yurov is gone so McCarron could move up and N. Foligno or Sturm (if he's still around) or Haight could pick up the 4C. Roster is kind of a mess right now, but it's exciting to talk about, so what do you guys think?
