Best/Worst Against Appearances

Here's where some of our players landed on the Best/Worst Team against X, done by u/smashbros, over on the main sub.

some people made the honorable mentions so that's listed as HM.

New guys in bold, previous players in italics

Worst Against

Liam Ohgren (WSH, ANA, SJS)

Vinnie Hinostroza (LAK, VGK, MIN)

Jake Middleton (LAK, NJD)

Matt Kiersted (HM: LAK)

Max Shabanov (WSH)

Jeff Petry (PHI)

Ryan Hartman (CAL, CHI)

Michael McCarron (NYR)

Zeev Buium (VAN)

Daemon Hunt (TOR)

Mats Zuccarello (CHI)

Brock Faber (CHI)

Quinn Hughes (CHI)

Best Against

Brock Faber (SJS, EDM)

Kirill Kaprizov (DAL, COL, DET, WPG)

Matt Boldy (DAL, COL, SEA)

Mats Zuccarello (EDM)

Quinn Hughes (EDM, ANA, MTL, HM: NYI)

Jesper Wallstedt (OTT, HM: ANA, COL)

Jake Middleton (COL)

Marcus Johansson (VGK, SEA)

Joel Eriksson Ek (VGK, SEA)

Jonas Brodin (VGK)

Jared Spurgeon (VGK)

Blake Coleman (VGK)

Danila Yurov (WPG)

Vladimir Tarasenko (TOR)

Ryan Hartman (TOR)

Here's the link to the post on the best and worst teams against us

and the Chicago thread bc what the fuck.

let me know if I missed anyone

Couple Notes:

Kirill Kaprizov, my "never played a single game as the most expensive player" superstar, is our most decorated here.

Quinn Hughes comes in second with the honorable mention against the Islanders.

Ryan Hartman is the current roster player with the most Worst Against appearances...though again idk what the fuck happened against Chicago.

We had four players appear on the Best Against Vegas roster, as well as the Best Against Colorado, so let's all cry about the fact we couldn't hold on to that lead in game 5, because anything could've happened in game 6 given the injuries the Avs had.

RIP Vinnie, somehow ended up on the worst against us.

Playoff Middsy vs regular season Middsy against the Avs... was he just overexposed on the 2nd pair?

Wild jet in NJ

As the title says, saw the Minnesota Wild jet in NJ today. Probably nothing, but thought it was interesting given the lack of extension news with Quinn.

Theme Night Prices

Are theme night prices usually that expensive or am I tripping? Hockey Fights Cancer and Saint Patrick's Day package tickets are $100+ right now. Maybe I'm spoiled but I bought Pride and Prince night packages for $50 and $75 last season. Is this a set price bc of the item (sweaters) or is it just bc it's the first day of the sale and they'll fluctuate?

Another note is that Russo's list wasn't exclusive, Swedish Heritage & St. Paddy's day or on the site. Every package isn't there yet so I'm not sure when we'll be able to see everything that is planned for this year or if it is continuously updated.

Fave Brock Faber moment?

I'm bored let's talk about Brock Faber.

personally, I'm a huge fan of this goal, and his shit-eating grin after crashing into the boards.

I know everyone loves his OT wraparound against Dallas, I swear he is fueled by his hatred of Dallas in these games.

please share Faber highlights I miss this team so bad

Can we actually afford Larkin?

yet another Larkin post I'm sorry I know it will be cross posted and we're all tired of it

but say the new GM miraculously accepts our previous package (reminder the package was never confirmed, we just know not Boldy and not Ek)

With Larkin's cap hit of 8.7 and puckpedia saying we have 1.1 in cap space, who do we move off to afford him? Yurov and Stramel going the other way is like about 1 M.

Trenin and Sturm seem obvious, that's about 5.5 M. who else? and then how do we fill those spots?

I'm a firm believer in keeping Brodin (if we're keeping bogo around I demand we keep jimmy)

Gus may start on IR so that gives us leeway but we would need to figure out what happens when he comes back

Anyway, Our Beloved Matt Boldy - All 42 Goals of the 2025-26 NHL Season

Alright I've been successfully ragebaited by D*tr**t, I need to feel joy. Here are Matt Boldy's 42 (42!!!!!!!!) regular season goals this year. Here's his 2025-26 highlights - shorter that just watching all his goals but i miss him.

Also remember when he did this?

First time in his career putting up 40+ goals and 80+ points. He's only 25.

What was your favourite play from Boldy this year?

Throwback Thursday: Scouting Combine Pics

I know we're all busy envisioning how to acquire Dylan Larkin but let's take a moment to look at these photos.

personal thoughts.

Jimmy I swear I've you in the club before, or was it a movie? Close your eyes you're staring into my soul.

Also, was Ryan Hartman, like, kinda cute? Giving early 2000s surfer kid energy

JEEK looks exactly the same...adskjfsakdf my man has been sleep deprived since he was born.

Gus is kinda serving in that pic ngl. like, face card amazing. can't take the swedes to the club, it's all male models and a haunted doll

Is there something to be learnt from how Vegas handled Colorado?

Judd and AJ talked about this on their pod but I feel like I disagree, we don't need to have more grit, and it wasn't just a personnel issue. Like I don't think it's solely a roster construction issue. I think the Minnesota Wild as constructed have the ability to beat the Avs. I'm wondering more about the strategy employed by Vegas and if that is replicable.

Wild on 7th- Episode #153: Season Wrap with Bill Guerin

Billy G is making the rounds, here he is on Wild on 7th.

Edit:

Here's what stood out to me (mainly stuff that hasn't been said already in the end of season presser

  • BG keeps going Lion King on Brock Faber, like, remember who you are Brock. You're an elite defensive guy with a secret offensive side
    • idk i like the idea of Brock unlocking way more offensively bc as BG said, he gets up to 20 goals and we're talking Norris noms.
  • The staff does usually have an end of season get together, same way the boys have been out at Maynards etc, but they're still too depressed from the loss to have one yet
  • BG mentioned that he hopes the "business side" of the organization does more watch parties like we had for Game 3. when the weather agrees with us. He said fans are hungry for it and it all stems from winning.
  • Essentially Billy thinks we gotta stop thinking of ourselves as underdogs? Hynes mentioned we have these big emotional wins and then lay an egg in the following game. The team needs to see themselves as an elite team, winning against Colorado, Dallas etc shouldn't be a huge thing. We should be able to beat them. These shouldn't be big wins but just regular wins, and on to the next.
  • He's apologizing for pissing on anyone's parade if they felt really excited about getting out of the first round. Like for fans, for staff, it was a huge thing just wants to remind everyone that this is not the ultimate goal
  • also we're not automatically guaranteed to get to the second round next year, we gotta do it all over again next year and be ready for it
  • He doesn't actually do exit meetings with everyone, Hynes meets with everyone for like 20 minutes or so, but Billy wants longer sit downs with people. He already met with Kirill for an hour.
  • BG almost made my heart jump out of my chest when Joe asks him who does Kirill remind you of, competitveness wise, and he said Sidney Crosby.
  • His Summer Contract To Do List, in the order he mentions them: Quinn, Big Sexy, go through all the UFAs (Nick, Jojo, Zuccy, Tarasenko)
  • Little Danila Yurov talk at the end. BG was very happy with him.

Exit Interviews Megathread

Just to put them all in one place, I'll update when we get more.

The interviews are released on the Wild website and I've also linked the individual posts on various quotes if you wanna do further discussion.

Side note, it is so good to see some of those beards shaved oh my god the sigh of relief wooo. some of these men were becoming unrecognizable. smh, that's what happens when we're used to only seeing one round of playoff beards.

Post Elimination Positive Thoughts Thread

alright, I'm done crashing out. I may crash out again, but as of this moment I'm done crashing out. everyone has the right to crash out. We shat the bed on that one. Truly.

[edit: i'm back to crashing out]

But I want to take advantage of the fact that we have a solid community here. One that knows and loves the Minnesota Wild. Because at the end of the day, we keep coming back, despite knowing that this is a Minnesota Men's Pro Sport team. Grieving is easier in community etc etc, so I'd like to start a thread here that's a little more focused a little less angry, so we can all still process this together.

Group Therapy Starting Again! (It Will Continue Until Next Season)

Here's the rules, I think. leave a comment down below that includes something along these lines:

  1. One positive thing about the 2025-2026 Minnesota Wild season.
  2. One thing you're looking forward to next season (this off-season included)
  3. One hobby you pick up in the Minnesota Wild Off-season.

You can also say whatever you want but if you just want to scream, there's another thread for that. This is a positive thoughts thread so you can't say stuff like "I'm looking forward to X player being traded because they sucked" Just say you want you actually want to say on a different thread.

Like I said, you don't have to participate in this one, it's just here for the people that want a slightly more positive space to grieve in.

So I'll start by saying it has been an absolutely pleasure to actually see Quinn Hughes live in person skating. Incredible acquisition by Bill Guerin. Quinn Hughes and Brock Faber seem like a D-pairing that was fated to happen.

I'm excited to get into my first full season as Minnesota Wild fan next season. Definitely gonna put the theme nights on my calendar!

Still heartbroken though so I don't think I'll be watching anymore hockey until the Minnesota Wild are back. But it's an excellent time for me to get back into the Sims!

Wild on 7th Game 4 Recap (+ Links to Other Wild Pods)

Okay guys, more group therapy time. There many other Wild podcasts out there tearing the guys a new one, (no comment on whether or not they deserve it) but sometimes I need the soothing voice of Ryan Carter to help me stay calm. Wild on 7th is so good for being more level-headed. As Kinger says, don't get too high on the highs don't get too low on the lows.

Here's the round up from the regulars:

  • Judd's Hockey Show Postcast - oh boy that really felt like my dad yelling at me
  • JHS 5/12 show - haven't listened to this one yet
  • Worst Seats in the House - i cannot listen to Russo immediately after a loss, his energy puts me on edge. my man cannot talk people off the ledge. LaPanta can't even talk him off the ledge.
  • Locked on Wild Postcast - idk Seth almost went crazy after Game 2, i haven't listened yet, we'll see how he's doing
