ACOG experts… what would you choose for a 14.5” general purpose rifle?
Trying to figure out the ACOG world… there are SO many models/options.
I’m pretty sure I want a crosshair reticle setup, but I’m struggling to narrow down which magnification/model makes the most sense for my rifle, or what models to avoid (like the 4x because of the eye relief?)
Host:
- PWS MK114 Mod 2-M
- 14.5” p&w
- .223 Wylde
- Mainly a general purpose/range rifle
- Will be suppressed most of the time
I already have:
- a 10.3” with a red dot
- another host with a red dot + magnifier
- a 16” with an LPVO
…which is why I’m leaning ACOG for this rifle.
Right now I’m mainly debating between:
- TA50 3x24 Compact ACOG
- TA11 3.5x35
- TA31 4x32
All with crosshair reticles.
The more I research ACOGs the more I realize there are a TON of variants within each model family and I’m trying not to make an expensive mistake.
I know there are some really good Memorial Day sales starting to pop up, so I’m trying to make a decision and order this weekend if possible.
For those of you who actually run ACOGs:
- Which model would you choose for a 14.5”?
- Is the TA11 really worth it over the TA31?
- Does 3x/3.5x feel noticeably different from 4x?
- Is the compact TA50 awesome or something people end up regretting?
- Any specific reticles/models I should focus on or avoid?
Would love real-world opinions from people actually using them.
