Any advice on the best way to clean these?

They're covered in dirt just from general wear, I have brushed them with a soft toothbrush and some warm water, detergent and baking soda.

The internet says to clean them with detergent so I'm trusting that if I keep at it the dirt will lift off, but I'm wondering whether anyone has tried different methods that have worked well?

The third picture is what they're supposed to look like.
