This was majorly a practice for gesture drawing, as critiques on my work told me I needed to work on anatomy, gesture drawing, and etc.
The reference photo for this practice was a William Dafoe image (the meme pose man himself)

This comic doesn't really do the whole thing justice, but to summarize the main point in this creation, trying to be a person to lean on when things get tough isn't healthy for you.
If you're constantly in fear of their life, have to be there for their happiness.. is that a relationship?
Or is it simply just the burden being passed down to you?
Also another precursor- Eyes (that black thing) before this interaction, "creates" an angel (though it looks bloodied and dead).
After a first interaction with another person not wanting to be in a relationship due to having to be that burden carrier, Eyes puts the same burden on her.
Beautifully ironic.

A precursor to Riddle school megalovania.
I see Phred as a guy whos calm, but internally scared at this moment.
He's never have to fight his own friends, let alone the smartest one.
He feels guilty for not acting sooner.
And yet, the worst thing..
He's talking to a walking corpse of his best friend.
Fighting pose for Phred is from Joji Kazamas fight against Kiryu in Yakuza 3.
Wanted to originally do a gojo martial arts stance or wing chun, but, i did what felt best.
The final image felt the most fulfilling of this piece, especially with Phil's panel showing his descent into madness.

What I can say I improved in this one was majorly thumbnail sketches, as I planned this out, and knowing I could use the wanted poster, I had it be the main focus.
Scrapped things

Used slightly simpler shading noting how easy the contrast was.

Since I haven't been drawing for awhile due to me practically burning out trying to animate something (it's a surprise), I just drew what came to my head, even if it's crazy.
For other words, I'm also a huge fan of Splapp and his creations, and hey, what better way to show that by referencing the iconic sequel quiz's final 20?

Storyline:
In Riddle Transfer 2, Quiz takes over as principal of the school, holding the kids gunpoint in their seats if they move a muscle.
With his friends help, Phil is able to escape the class.
However, his friends are not so lucky, as he wasn't fast enough to finish the game in time.
A wave of corruption crashed through their windows, corrupting Mrs Cophey, Zack, Smiley, and Phred.
What has happened to the others is unknown.
Bf and pibby (pibby isn't drawn as much yet here) aid Phil in confronting a corruption of two of his best friends.
In the middle of the song, attempting to save Smiley, Phil touches her, which starts an odd chain reaction.
He accidentally went into her mind.
Giving her words of encouragement, he fades out of her mind.
With Smileys undying will, she confronts her corrupted persona, akin to Blueballed, finally retaining control of her mind.
In the end, Phil saves smiley, and the two along with bf and pibby, leave the ever-so growing corruption along with it.
Looking at the friends he lost, and noting his failure as a hero, Phil seeks emotional comfort, not able to rationalize the whole situation. Smiley provides her share of comfort, knowing the two can't return what they've lost, but they still have each other.

Zack honestly as a character I kinda wondered about the most.
He doesn't say much besides him going on fire or cold- and doesn't honestly interact as much with the cast as you'd expect in a sense.
He feels like an outcast, narratively and literally.
But honestly, I think he has an unsung purpose that we can all relate to from school, no matter the age.
School's flawed, no matter the school you go to- and I think the guy's eternal fire represents that neverending dread and pain -- and possibly the death of our old selves simply to adjust in a public environment.
Looking back, noting I was lucky enough to not go to a public school at a young age, I think that private schools, essentially Montessoris, shaped a huge part of my life as I was able to make friends, be myself, and not be judged for it.
I always think that that experience I had wouldn't have happened if I went to public schools beforehand.
And honestly, I feel bad for those who lack those outlooks, either be it money, or location...
Because, honestly, I see the epitome of school suffering for all of us as a personal unification.
Pain brings people, no matter the cause, together - and I-- no, we all can live with that.
