When I inserted the plant in this little terrarium two months ago, it had 4 leaves. Now it has 7. Should I leave it grow? Should I cut the two bottom leaves? Should I cut the top? What is the nicest visual?

I can put springtails in it if necessary. But in such a small space, I wonder if they can survive.

I was diagnosed with BPD two days ago. I knew I had it but now it's official. I've been feeling bad for these two days. I need to meet friends that I don't really know, but I just can't. I've run out of ideas of how to tell I cannot come.

Yesterday I missed some classes of dancing and today I am supposed to meet friends in the evening, related to these classes. I don't know them well and they don't know my current feelings. I am just to tired to come up with a way to say that I cannot come and how to react when they ask me "why" or if they try to change my mind.

Why do so many people pronounce the neighborhood "Vieussieux" even though it's written Vieusseux?

I ask because I've met so many people living or working in the area and it sounds weird. I've been living near that neighborhood for years and pronounce it (I hope) in the good way.

It bothers me, especially when I met a big boss of a company that has been working there also for years. None has ever had the courage to correct him maybe?

It's not the only one so it makes me think of the correct pronunciation.

I have had a colony of springtails for over 5 years. I recently discovered mites inside. No idea how they got there. I just smash them when I see them, but I don't destroy the eggs since I have no idea how they look. Any idea if there's a way to get rid of them?

I took 30 springtails from the colony (the origine one is quite small right now) and I hope they can repopulate another box.

I put the box a meter away of the other to avoid any possible contamination.

I still don't know how the mites appeared. They might have been there since the beginning but I never saw that many. I killed 10 of them this morning.

Are there any workshop of salsa for real intermediate or advanced that are available this summer? I don't know where to look for them.

I really want to improve my skills since I feel the current stagnation in social dancing sessions.

In order to make fried rice, I put some rice on a CI wok. It sticks. I let the wok heat 3-4 min at level 7 from 9. It's not sufficient or is too hot? Maybe 3 tbsp of oil before.

I have just watched the Guga video about filet. It wasn't cooked in sous-vide but I struggle with the concept of temperatures here, because the colours don't match with the temperatures I usually see on this sub.

The chef calls the slice on the first picture medium rare (3rd steak from the left). I totally agree with the colour and it's the one I prefer. However, here the redditors usually cook a piece for a higher temp (55°C/131F) and for over an hour. My question is why is there such a lack of consistency with the temperatures?

I have sometimes tried to cook at 55°C and I got the colour much more similar to the second picture (5th steak from the left). This is medium well. The cuts I usually sous-vide are ribeyes. It is definitely not the same colour as the pictures I see on this sub, when people say they cook at 55°C.

Multiple hypothesis for why the cuts from this sub are different compared to the ones on the pictures, related to the temperatures :

  • The cuts are not filets
  • The internal temperature of the center isn't reached even in 1h30
  • The thickness of the steak

I have 1kg of a beef filet and I wonder if I should try to sous-vide it or just enjoy a pan sear, no charcoal bbq available unfortunately.

Is it fine to sous-vide a filet at 48°C/118F for an hour?

Does carbon dioxyde in a Coca-Cola get released quicker if we use a stopper with a wine saver pump or if we keep air in the bottle?

All is in the title : I was wondering if using a wine saver can actually keep a coke sparkly longer than just keeping the bottle closed but with air inside because we drank half od the bottle for instance.

Additionally, I could also ask if keeping air or argon would make a difference for carbon dioxyde evaporation.

I spend too much time on my couch and it numbs or tenses some parts of my body. Need a healthy replacement.

I have been leaning on my couch like this for more than 6 years. It tenses my neck and my back and it also seals up my chest so I don't extend my ribcage. I have problems breathing because it gets me anxious. I also struggle with bruxism (teeth clenching) and tensions in the pelvic floor area.

I also put my laptop on me and it stiffs my arms. It is very tense from the elbows to the wrists.

When I sit, I look at my laptop very low. My ankles get very stiff and lack mobility now.

I am just looking for a way to change my habit. It bothers me so much and I would like to get rid of ny couch to just find healthier solution.

Anxiety for breathing makes PF therapies inefficient

I don’t know where to ask for help anymore, so I’m posting this here.

For about 20 years, I’ve had chronic muscle tension, severe bruxism, low self-esteem, anxiety, and what feels like a complete inability to relax naturally.

One of the biggest problems is breathing. I genuinely do not understand how breathing is supposed to work. People say “just breathe” or ask me to do breathing exercises, but I have absolutely no idea what I’m supposed to do internally. I don’t know if breathing is supposed to involve effort, relaxation, pushing, letting go, inhaling a certain way, exhaling differently, etc.

The moment I focus on breathing, my entire body becomes more tense.

Stretching exercises, meditation, relaxation exercises, and physiotherapy exercises — instead of helping, they usually increase the tension even more. I feel trapped...

I also have problems with my pelvic floor muscles. They are weak and extremely tense at the same time. During physiotherapy, they even used an internal device to help me relax those muscles, but it didn’t work because focusing on breathing and relaxation only made me tighten up more.

For example, my pelvic floor muscles are already very tense even when I try to relax. On the machine, they measure around 8μV while relaxed, and only around 13μV when I actively contract them. My physiotherapist told me the amplitude difference is far too small, and that ideally it should be something more like 3μV relaxed and 15μV contracted. I might be confusing μV and mV, I honestly don’t remember exactly.

I spend a significant amount of time lying on my couch when I'm home because sitting feels exhausting, but I feel like this is also destroying my posture and making my thorax, back, and overall body tension worse over time. The front of my body feels shortened while my back becomes more hunched.

What frustrates me the most is that nobody seems able to explain basic things in a concrete way. Breathing and relaxation are apparently “natural” for most people, so professionals often cannot explain them beyond vague instructions.

They tell me to practice exercises at home, but I often cannot even get through them because they stress me out. I do one inhalation and by the second one I already feel anxious. The same thing happens with stretching sessions.

Only one specialist once suggested the hypothesis that I may have learned how to breathe incorrectly very early in life, maybe as a baby or toddler. I also know that my father breathes in a very tense or abnormal way, so sometimes I wonder if I unconsciously learned bad breathing patterns through mimicry while growing up.

I’ve seen physiotherapists, sexologists, and tried meditation, breathing exercises, stretching, and different approaches, but nothing changes fundamentally.

People keep telling me “it takes time,” but after 20 years, I no longer believe this is just about time. I feel like there is something very basic that I fundamentally do not understand about how my body is supposed to function.

I feel extremely lost because many professionals initially think they can help me, but eventually they run out of answers too.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Is it the best subreddit to post this or should I look for a broader one?

I've been looking for the links between the jaw, the diaphragm and the pelvic floor. It is astounding how it can all be connected. Does calming one with botox have an effect on the others or does it make them weaker ?

With an appointment once every week for PT, I feel I cannot advance at all. Moreover, I struggle to do the exercices at home for other reasons. I wonder if being in a camp/hospital where a therapist can see you once or more times per day can actually help.

With that amount of appointments, I might consider countries like India, China, Colombia or Thailand, because of the price for weeks or months. I just don't know if it really helps or if it's not efficient enough... plus the fact it could be a bad hospital or even a scam.
