Folks clean your dryer!

Folks clean your dryer!

Every time I do a load, I always clean the lint trap. Not just check it but grab any lint I see. It’s been a habitual habit for as long as I can remember. Today though I for some reason thought I should check beyond the trap and unscrew this little cover. My dryer is 4 yrs old and this is what I pulled out. This is not including the lint that made it into the shop vac already.

I did not expect this. Lesson learned that clearing just the trap every time is not enough.

Maybe this is common knowledge? If it’s not than your welcome:)

Stupid question?

Hey folks, so I made a pretty frustrated post last night after a fire broke in Redmond. I was thinking about it and thought I could maybe attend a city council meeting and share my thoughts? I have no idea how that works? Do you just go to the next meeting and there is a time for the public to speak? Parks and rec makes it sound like that’s all city meetings are. I know that’s not true though :)

It’s not about the size, it’s how you use it.

I got what I got

Question for you folks?

My buddy’s wife hired some guys to clean there pool deck and driveway he comes home to this. He’s pissed. I get why, it’s a mess. Then i started thinking how would one avoid this? I mean sure don’t spray it all on the pool cover or the out door furniture, maybe keep the mess localized, but pressure washing is messy. What would you guys do? I am just curious.

Dip in floor help #2

Thanks to everyone who commented on my previous post. If you haven’t seen the post please refer to the link below

https://www.reddit.com/r/Carpentry/s/XqlSeX0QlJ

This is what’s going on under the house. The piece of red pex you see sticking through the floor is the lowest section of the dip.

Now to clear things up a bit. The whole house had 3 layers of carpet on top of asbestos tiles which were glued to the original sub floor. I removed the carpet and after removing the tiles in the first room 2 yrs ago then laying my plywood, I decided to just plywood over the tiles. Nothing in this home is plumb or square, and as I have gone through it I have done the best I can but at the end of the day it’s a 100yrs old home. Unless I completely rebuilt it from the ground up, you just have to work with what you got and do the best you can. Thanks in advance for the help!

ANY IDEAS HOW TO ADRESS THIS DIP BEFORE LVP?

So my 100yr old Reno had this addition added to it 30-40yrs ago and the floor dips down then goes back up. I just can’t see how to plane it out enough before I install flooring. Do I just feather finish the edges and blend it in and live with the dip? Or do I try and build up my substrate then feather finish? Or forgo the feather finish completely and do something else?

Rave Redmond!

Was on my way home from Bend and just after Lowe’s there was a guy pushing his car to the side of the road. 4 cars including me stopped. It was a really cool moment and made me happy I moved here from Bend. Redmond doesn’t have as much going on, but a lot of the people make up for it.

Serious: What kind of things did your home inspector miss or save you from? Thinking about a career change. #2

Thank you for everyone who commented on my original post the other day. I really appreciated every one taking the time to respond. It gave me a solid idea of what folks expectations are. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Serious: What kind of things did your home inspector miss or save you pfrom? Thinking about a career change.

Turning 40 in 2 weeks and I am considering a careers change. Been in various trades for the last 15yrs or so, and currently renovating my century old home. I am trying to get a realistic picture of what this could look like.

- how thorough was your inspector? Did they gloss over things?

-what major issues did they catch that either saved you money or that noped you right out of the purchase?

-what expensive problems showed up shortly after that you feel like should have been caught?

-would you want someone who gives you all the technical details, or more of hear is what can wait and what needs to be fixed sooner than later?

I have been doing the full Reno completely solo room by room. Every board I cut wrong or mistake I make hurts, financially. Every purchase I make is thoughtful, since money is tight. I think I’d truly care about the buyer and helping them understand the risk, or just give them a realistic perspective on what they are dealing with, instead of just checking boxes.

Curious what experiences you all have had, good or bad.

Paw I need attention MEOW

This cat is the most persistent creature I have ever encountered. He screams at me until I give him attention.

Anyone else’s Coon have a definitive smile?

I have grown up with cats and currently have a 8yr domestic void and 5 yr MainCoon. Sometimes when I go to pet the Coon I swear he has a huge smile on his face. I have meantioned this before to people, and they respond “ya my cat smiles sometimes” I don’t think it’s the same level though. Sure I can see when the mini panther is happy as can be, but Boone has almost a human smile. Curious if it’s a breed thing? I have never seen anything like it and of course by the time I try to capture it the moment has passed.

Time moves fast. Always drop what you’re doing when your cat wants some snuggles. One day they won’t be around.

Bought a pair of quiet comfort ultras full price just over a year ago. Had to send them for warranty 2 times. 1st because case failed, 2nd one earbud failed. Soon as warranty ended my 2nd case started to have problems, but I am out of warranty. It charges if I wiggle one bud just right and don’t bump the case. So I deal with this for a a couple months. Recently one of my earbuds fell out on the job, and was promptly run over (my fault). so I jump online and try to find a replacement and guess what? Bose links the earbuds so if one gets lost or damaged you can’t replace it. You have to buy a whole new pair. Cool!

F-YOU BOSE! I will never buy any of your products ever again. For the rest of my life I will discourage everyone and anyone I get the chance too from purchasing your products. $300 and a shit ton of problems In the 1.5yrs I owned these headphones. Go suck a bag of Dicks!

Sorry folks. I am just so God damn tired of getting raked over the coals by corporate America. Rising prices and less quality. It’s happening everywhere and it seems with just about everything. I wasn’t expecting these to last a life time. But for crying out loud, I paid $120 back in 2019 for a pair of j-bird vistas that lasted almost 4yrs. They still work, battery just sucks.

I wanted to say thank you to everyone who commented on my post the other day. I was not prepared for the amount of overwhelmingly postive responses. Coming out of the season I have been in the last couple years, it really meant a lot. Looking forward to possibly running into some of you this summer!

Finally getting to the punch list of the Reno I have been living in and working on weekdays and weekends. It’s a 100yr old home, so as you can imagine I have had to get creative with about every little thing. My brain is pretty tapped at this point. Any thoughts on what to do here to fill this gap?
