Weirdly specific request

Has anyone read a book set in a setting similar to the story in the Star Trek episode "Far Beyond the Stars"? IE at a magazine/newspaper/publisher who work with genre fiction mid-20th century?

Voyagers by Meg Charlton

Waffled over whether to tag this science fiction or literary fiction but went with the latter because of imagining a certain type of scifi fan turning up their noses at it.

One of my favorite features of books is re-readability, and as soon as I finished I immediately wanted to re-read to piece together all the Allen stories/sections. Manages to be both a piece about childhood and celebrity and human connection while ALSO being a good story about a couple of kids who were abducted by aliens as children. Maybe, they think...

I can't help but wonder...

I know the internet was in it's infancy in the early 90's, and IDK if there were any local or mail doll groups that may have had fans of AG then

But I can't help but wonder if there was drama when the first TMs were released. Modern characters without books?

Or Bitty Baby/Our New Baby. More baby dolls (an already very saturated market), no books or other educational link and definitely marketed to younger girls.

Were there people complaining when they switched to the tan bodies?

How long before an abscess can be drained?

37F, 5'2, 160lbs in the US, I have a lump on my left buttock maybe the size of a large pimple that appeared this last weekend and from Sunday evening - Tuesday morning became red, warm and intermittently extremely painful. Went to a doc that wasn't my own yesterday- she confirmed it was an early abscess (I had one under my arm last year), but said it was too early to drain it. She gave me antibiotics that she said should shrink it and to keep an eye to see if it tries to start draining on its own. I also have an appt set with my regular GP next Wed, because even I know antibiotics aren't enough for a fully formed abscess.

Here's my question- I already have plans to go to the ER this weekend if it becomes excruciating, but I'm worried if I do they'll refuse to drain it the too, or worse, the same will happen when I go to my GP next week. How long does it usually take before they can do this?

Does anyone remember that thing Winamp used to do, where parts of the app that were lime green would get all swirly...

That's how the spots in my eyes during my ocular migraines look. I've been trying so hard to find pictures to show people what I mean.
