Did I destroy my knees

Quasimodo IV expects to jump up for scratches and pets on my lap at least once, usually 2-3 times a day. This was adorable when Queso as he’s also called was a kitten, but recently my knees have been making popping and Velcro sounds when I squat down for him.

However, I have to keep a level lap or else he falls over and hates it.

- me teetering on the ball of my foot with heels up and a flat surface to stand on is ideal for him, he enjoys my discomfort and the thrill of balancing when I pet him
- I can lean with my back against a wall, this is tolerated by Quasimodo IV as long as I keep my lap level
- petting sessions can be 30 seconds to 3 minutes long, depending on his mood
- he will not sit on my lap any other way. Chairs, recliner, bed all are unacceptable. Only my suffering and lack of balance can make him condescend to sit on my lap
- I was prepared to suffer for eternity like this, only worried about balancing but now that my knees are making popping sounds I’m worried I’ve fuked my knees doing this

Am I hurting my knees by doing this? Mods delete if not allowed. Cat tax included.
