How much do festival colors actually contribute to river pollution?

Holi is one of the world’s most colorful festivals, but I started wondering where all those colors end up after people wash them off.
I spent some time reading about synthetic dyes, heavy metals, and how they can affect rivers like the Yamuna. While industrial pollution is obviously a much bigger issue, festival waste can still add to the burden in some places.
I’m curious what people here think:
Are eco-friendly Holi colors becoming common enough?
Have there been any successful initiatives to reduce festival-related water pollution?
What policies or awareness campaigns have actually worked?
I’d love to hear perspectives from people working in environmental science or river conservation.

What festival or cultural event deserves more attention? I’d love your suggestions

Hi everyone!
I’m a blogger who loves writing about festivals, cultural traditions, environmental celebrations, and major events from around the world. My goal isn’t just to cover the most famous festivals I also want to discover meaningful celebrations that deserve more recognition.
I’m looking for ideas from this amazing community.
Which festival, cultural event, or celebration do you think more people should know about?
It could be:
A hidden local festival from your country
A unique cultural tradition
An environmental or awareness event
A fast-growing international festival
Or even a festival that’s becoming popular online but hasn’t been covered much yet
I’d love to learn the history, traditions, and significance behind your suggestions, and who knows you might inspire my next article.
Thanks in advance for helping me discover something new. I truly appreciate every recommendation! ❤️
