Hitman 2 cutscenes are sad... How much would it actually have cost to make them like Hitman 2016?
(Yeah they're not bad, the artists and devs did a great job with the limitations imposed.)
Apparently, IO was going bankrupt and they lost the department that did the cutscenes for hitman 2016, so it would be "very expensive" to do it on their own.
The question is, how much money are we talking about? How do we know for sure it wasn't purely for convenience and to keep more money in their pockets? We are talking about the Hitman IP, one of the most successful IPs in the market... where did the money from Silent Assassin, Contracts, Blood Money, Absolution, Hitman 2016 go...?
edit: there's no way it's so much more expensive, It's not like the animation studio worked for free on Hitman 2016. You still gotta pay salaries and bills. I would guess 20% more expensive to hire another studio (or even the same), 20% being the usual profit margin of businesses in general..
