Frogs!! How does Kermit find my pool

I live in central Texas and it's HOT!!! Given that how are there frogs in the yard? But I digress. How do the damn frogs find my pool? I have dogs that are very territorial but never mess with frogs. I end up finding them in the pool once or twice a week. How do they get there?

Since when did "vegging out" become a bad phrase

I was born in the early 70s, graduated late 80s so grew up with all the phrases we used back then.

Last night we were having dinner with my grand daughter, she's 14, and about to be a freshman. I told her I had a rough day and was going to go veg out on the couch for a bit.

Her face looked like I had told her I was going to go down some puppies! Once she was able to speak she said that was the most offensive phrase I had ever said.

Of course my first response was, "oh I can do much better than that". Then I asked her what I said that was so offensive. She said I was making light of people in a vegetative state.

Since when is vegging out offensive or is this just gen Z being overly sensitive, again?

Screeching from disk brakes

I generally ride indoors but over the past week I've ridden my bike outdoors. When I do a hard stop, my front brake starts screeching. The bike does stop but it sounds awful. I have disk brakes and have had this bike for several years and never had this happen before. What can be causing the screeching and how do I fix it?

Using a tap on pool light housing?

Long long story short. I've had my pool light out of the pool for several years. I am finally getting around to putting a new one in. I am using the screw that the old light had but it just won't go into the hole that's in the housing. I'm thinking the hole has some rust or other debris in it. Can/should I use a tap to clean out the hole or what other options do I have?

NAC vs salt water systems for hard water

Besides the advertising how well does NAC (Nucleation Assisted Crystalization) work when there is hard water, 269 ppm?

I'm trying to decide on which kind of system to install.

Does anyone have advice?

Self install or purchase from company

My son is thinking of getting a water softener and most companies want so much money for these things. Can he buy something from Amazon and install it himself or just hire someone to install it and save $1000s? What is he getting for spending the extra money by going with a company?

What's your DNF book or series

I really like fantasy books and have read the majority of big writers. I picked up the whole Hyperion series based on reviews and honestly I can't finish it. I got through the first audio book and really struggled with it. I finished and thought I already bought the series so started the second book and I had to rewind so many times since I fell asleep or just didn't actually listen to it. The author wanders through the story and writes so many words to get anything across. It's just too much and I had to put the series away.

So what highly recommended series did not finish and why?

What is up with the flies!!

Every summer there are flies. Over the past two weeks it's just been awful!! No matter what we clean, spray or pick up there are just tons of flies. The only thing that has helped a bit are the stinky fly trap buckets with water. I have 3 in my backyard and they are nasty to look at but each one has caught so many flies.

How is everyone else dealing with this?

Digital pool tester

Please don't flame, I know a LOT of people swear by their strips and test kits. I unfortunately can never figure out which color I'm looking at. 😞. So I'm thinking of getting a digital reader, in particular I'm considering a PoolWaterLab digital pool water tester Photometer. Does anyone have experience with one of these?
