I'll be joining Btech ECE at a top-7 IIT this year. I was initially interested in pursuing Aerospace Engineering at a top-3 IIT, but eventually chose ECE because it seemed to offer greater flexibility and broader career opportunities.

That said, I still have a strong interest in the aerospace sector and would like to understand what career paths are available for someone with an ECE background, like what kinds of aerospace roles do ECE graduates typically work in? In what field i can do masters in after btech ece? and overall career prospects.

Have equal interest in both branches. Looking for better opportunities and placements

Is 6 month internship allowed for IITR btech students ? Whats the process for it ? Do we need prior approval and complete the semester credits from before or the 6month intern has its own credits ?

I am more inclined towards iitg tho due to better campus and mess menu.

Why are there no/very few branch changers from ECE as compared to EE or core branches ?

I have got IITG ECE in round 1 and my rank is very close to the CR of IITR ECE.
I'm trying to decide whether to freeze IITG ECE or continue floating and try for IITR ECE.(IITR ECE is the only realistic option i can get by floating)

My priorities are:

1. More relevant and well-structured curriculum for ECE core
2. Better grading and relatively lighter academic pressure
3. Chill attendance policy ,More free time for projects, coding, clubs, etc.
4. Better internship and placement opportunities (both core and non-core/software)
5. Better campus life and overall student experience

For current IITG ECE students and alumni:

• How strict is attendance?
• How easy is it to pursue software/AI roles from ECE?
• How are the ECE professors in terms of teaching quality, grading, and support for projects?
• If you had the choice between IIT Guwahati ECE and IIT Roorkee ECE today, which would you choose ?

What exactly does ragging mean ,like when is the line crossed ?

Is it just verbal or physical as well ?

Also ,can a fresher just deny if they feel uncomfortable in that ?
