Syllabus recommendations

Assalāmu ‘alaykum

Are any of you following any syllabuses for seeking knowledge? And do you have any recommendations? Occasionally people reach out with recommendations so it would be good to know what's suitable advice.

I'm following the Inkpot syllabus with Ustādh Muḥammad Huzaifah حفظه الله and can vouch for the تدرّج (gradually levelling up) in the teaching, explanations, and the choice of books. It's comprehensive in all the aspects of seeking knowledge, including manners and nurturing.

May Allāh increase us in beneficial knowledge.

BārakAllāh fīkum

(Also don't forget the unrestricted takbīr)

Reminder to be salafi in action

Assalāmu ‘alaykum

A reminder firstly for myself. We claim salafiyyah, which entails following the sunnah. We must actually work towards implementing the sunnah in our actions, not just in beliefs. Such as the sunan ar-rawāṭib, fasting the sunnah days, and so on.

May Allāh increase us in our love for the sunnah, and increase us in following it.

Often times, especially at the beginning of accepting salafiyyah, it's very easy to be excited and active in ‘ilm al-firaq and refuting ahlul bid‘ah. This has its place, but I ask that you don't forget about yourself and your actions which will follow you to the grave.

I ask that Allāh increases us in beneficial actions, accepts from us, and especially accepts our actions from Ramaḍān. Āmīn.

(Also don't forget to say the talbiyah unrestrictedly, perhaps you saying it aloud will remind someone else to do the same)

And Allāh knows best.

Giving Da’wah

Assalāmu ‘alaykum,

How do you give advice to other Muslim laymen online (or even offline)? Are there any tips or pointers you have found to be beneficial or important to keep in mind?

JazākAllāh khayr

A benefit:

Shaykh Haitham ibn Sarḥān حفظه الله mentions (in his explanation of Usūl ath-Thalātha) 4 conditions when giving da’wah:

Sincerely for Allāh, wisdom & patience, based on Islamic knowledge, and knowing the condition of the people you're calling towards.

And the following aḥadīth help keep me grounded when advising:

"Actions are based on intentions" (Bukhārī 1)

“Verily, gentleness is not found in anything but that it beautifies it, and it is not removed from anything but that it disgraces it.” (Muslim 2594)

"A slave (of Allah) may utter a word (carelessly) which displeases Allah without thinking of its gravity and because of that he will be thrown into the Hell-Fire." (Second half of Bukhārī 6478)

Assalāmu ‘alaykum

I've paused work and left the UK for over 4 months to study Qur‘ān and Arabic in Egypt, alongside some ’ilm shar’iyyah.

If anyone has any questions feel free to ask and I'm happy to assist bi-ithnillāh
