Elphaba in Acrylic
Idk - just something I worked up this evening… I just wanted to capture Elphaba smiling. Cynthia Erivo’s big grin makes Elphie so cute.

She is almost done! I just gave her hair today! I’m
Making her jacket and maybe adding a couple touches to her shorts.
This trial is so funny. We have Lord Nipp, who is trying to maintain a modicum of professionalism and procedure. We have Dame Fegg who is having the defining moment of her legal career and Temper Bailey is just sitting there barely doing anything. Then we have Brrr being called upon as a witness and he’s delivering this speech which really should have been the opening statement of the defense.
This is my second time reading this book, but, if we’re going for maximum dramatic intensity, Gregory Maguire could have Brrr step up á la Elle Woods in Legally Blonde and just slam dunk this case. I’m not saying that will happen, because, it doesn’t. I just think it would be hilarious.
I love this. It’s like Better Call Saul in Oz.
Actually, never mind, I think Lord Nipp would have a stroke if Jimmy McGill, aka Saul Goodman were in his courtroom.
In the trial proceedings in Out of Oz. Dorothy can’t help herself but to over explain EVERYTHING. This is hilariously catastrophic. She’s like Walter White in Breaking Bad lying and over explaining everything. (To be clear, I’m not saying Dorothy is lying, she’s nervous and fighting for her life. It’s the same stress response triggered by different circumstances.)
GIRL! Just stop talking. Say nothing, if you must say anything, invoke your fifth amendment rights against self incrimination.
Poor Nipp is having to serve as judge in this ad hoc trial, but Dorothy is forcing him to act as defense attorney as well as presiding judge. Someone buy this man a stiff drink, lol. The man is the only one in the room trying to maintain professional decorum. 🤣
Any one have any suggestions for improvement next time? I’ve worked this one half to death, mostly because my son took some neon orange paint and painted over sections of it.
I’m reading Out of Oz for the third time and I’ve reached up to the show trial of Dorothy starting.
Oh my God, what the fuck is this fuck ass trial? Rule of law? Don’t care, rules of engagement? Meh. Actually, I think what is mostly pissing me off is that Dorothy doesn’t have any real legal advocates to defend her. IIRC, Girly pop, kinda winds up going pro se (representing herself) because, the defender that was given to her, doesn’t give enough of a fuck aboht her to give her a proper defense.
Where is a Saul Goodman/ Jimmy McGill of Oz when you need one? ( I’ve been binge watching Better Call Saul)
I know that obviously, the Munchkinland legal system or lack thereof, is barely structured as is in this universe.
I suppose this could turn into conversations about the IRL.
IDK, just a few thoughts I needed to get out of my head.
Worked this up yesterday, experimenting with how to make a prismatic effect and I like the way this turned out. I also accidentally created a bit of a marbling effect on the background wash. I didn’t have a wide enough brush so the color was a bit uneven. So, when I had a wide brush at home later then I went in and added took a wet wide brush to it and the marbling kind of happened. I’m not mad that it did happen.
I also went in and topped it with a bit of sparkly gouache for effect.
I also may have used some watered down sparkle gouache to add sparkle to the wash. (I like sparkly things! LOL) 😂
Just wanted to play around with color today. I worked up this baby. It’s a pair of Antarctic icebergs/glaciers in the ocean. I’m kinda please how it turned out. I mostly just worked this up on a whim.
I haven’t painted in a while, but yesterday, I worked up this baby. It’s Glinda’s Bubble crown from Wicked. I wanted to play with some color theory, and I wanted to make the crown look sparkly without sparkle paint. I used the rainbow, in a bit different way than I thought I would. I had the idea to take a thin brush through the whole spectrum. I wound up paining a base of grey and adding the spectrum of colors on the sides and bottom of the circles.
IDK- let me know what you think!
I can’t get my export to work! I hit export and it does something and nothing happens. I don’t know what’s going on and I’m about to cry. I just want this to work.
