Double Standards towards our Actors
Nothing beats our awaam and their misplaced sense of optimism as well as self-centered moral standards.
We don’t actually care about morality. We just hate seeing our own people succeed.
If a Pakistani celebrity, (actresses especially) pushes the envelope, the comment section turns into an Inquisition. “Fahashi hai!"
Yet those exact same outrage addicts spend their nights binge-watching Bollywood, Turkish epics, and Netflix without batting an eye.
It was never about “fahashi.” It’s double-standard elitism. We forgive foreign media for everything, but weaponize piety against our own artists the second they step out of line.
Look at Iran. Under brutal restrictions, they didn’t waste time policing their artists. Rather they focused more on storytelling and cinematography. Now Iranian cinema wins Oscars and gets studied in Hollywood.
Meanwhile, our entire cultural discourse is trapped in a loop of Instagram/TikTok policing and outrage bait.
If you judge art by morality and compliance instead of script, direction, and performance, you don’t get culture. You get slop.
