Class project on nuclear waste transport safety, would love to pick the brain of anyone in the industry

Hey all,

I'm a grad student working on a systems engineering capstone project related to nuclear power plants, looking broadly at things like fuel handling, containment areas, radiation safety, and waste transport.

I don't have a nuclear industry background myself, so I'm reaching out now to see if anyone here would be open to a short interview later on in the project. Nothing right now, just trying to line up a few people I could ask questions to down the road, plant operators, fuel handling, radiation safety, transport/logistics, regulatory, whatever your angle is.

If you'd be willing, feel free to comment or DM me and I'll follow up when I get to that part of the project. This is purely for school, not connected to any company.

Thanks for reading!

Class project, curious how John Deere Operations Center handles farm data

Hello all,

I am working on a class project about how farms coordinate stuff like irrigation, equipment, and fertilizer scheduling. Part of it involves looking at platforms like John Deere Operations Center and how they handle data collection.

If anyone here works with Deere equipment/software, or has experience with how that data gets collected and shared, I'd love to ask a few questions. Doesn't have to be anything deep or technical, just trying to understand the basics from someone who's actually used it. Comments or DMs both fine.

Thanks in advance, and no worries if this isn't the right sub for it.

Rogue Weightlifting Platform 8x6

Hello all,

I’m looking at the Rogue Weightlifting Platform, 8’ x 6’. My current platform is also 8’ x 6’ with a thickness of 2.25”. It is in three pieces: two 2’ x 6’ sections made with two layers of 0.75” OSB and a 0.75” rubber mat, and one 4’ x 6’ section made with two layers of 0.75” plywood and one layer of 0.75” OSB.

I made it this way so I can move the pieces around and pull my car in if there is hail. However, they weigh a ton, and I’m starting to get nicer equipment now that I’m getting back into Olympic lifting.

My question is: how durable and protective are Rogue ballistic tiles when dropping weight from overhead? I don’t care much about noise, but I am worried about protecting the concrete floor.

For the platform, do I need to have 1/2” plywood underneath it? Will the tiles fit nicely into the frame, or do I need to raise them a bit so they sit flush with the frame? How easy is it to move just the frame around?

I like the tiles because they come in 2’ x 4’ sections and seem easy to move around.

Chase Sapphire target spending for welcome bonus

Hello,

I just received my Chase Sapphire Reserve, and I started spending to meet the target required to earn the bonus. However, the spending tracker does not seem to match the payments I have already made or the pending transactions. I think it tracks the total amount spent but does not deduct refunds for items that I returned. Is anyone else having this issue? Does this mean I can just rely on the tracker and not worry about the actual payments I make to the card?
