Weird and irritating secondary behaviours

I'm (29 M) going through a fairly severe stutter since quite some time now.

One irritating secondary behaviour that I've developed is that I keep moving my mouth up and down a lot and as a result I make some weird "kissing like" sounds. That's one thing.

Another thing that's bothering me is that, doing this I have bitten the inside of my mouth quite a lot and that has given me some really irritating mouth wounds and ulcers. It's really strange and irritating.

Did anyone else also experience something similar? If yes, how are you dealing with this?

Has anyone tried seeing a neurologist?

Has anyone tried seeing a neurologist? I want to know why the hell my entire body stiffens, and I just can't get words out every time I turn on the microphone, or I'm with someone in person.

10:59 AM, I say what I want to say as clearly as possible. 11:00 AM, I'm fighting for my life to even get a single word out.

And why the hell is it, that I worked my way out and got control 3 years back, I was working my arse off, I was creating a positive impact, I made some great friends, I was attending meetups, I was connecting with other people at office, so why the hell did I fall down so hard?

If I can fall so hard without doing anything extra, why can't I bloody get back to my rhythm by just wanting to focus on my work, wanting to grow professionally, wanting to create a positive impact on people's lives, wanting to build relationships, wanting to get work done just by speaking? Why do I have to do that extra, when the other stuff is so so so important to pay my bills?

Why do I have to do that extra when I know for a fact, the moment I try focusing on other stuff, that any 'normal' person of my age would do, I'll fall back hard and I'll start losing everything again?

I seriously want to know what is happening inside my brain. Can seeing a neurologist help me understand so that I can at least get to know the root cause of it? If yes, what specialists do I look for?

What's the white deposit near the battery?

So I opened the hood of my father's 2017 baleno today (I don't even remember when was the last time it was opened), and found these white deposits on the battery.

Is this something to worry about?

The car doesn't run often now. It only runs probably once a week.

Inputs appreciated.

Anyone working in an out and out corporate consulting setup?

I wanted to know if there are people like us who are working in an out and out corporate consulting setup?

I am asking this because I want to know some tips of survival (I can't even think of thriving).

I specifically mentioned the consulting setup, because this is one of those places where being able to speak and having confidence in your voice actually works wonders, and strugglers like us really have to be on our toes all the time.

I'm facing some silent discrimination at my workplace and I do understand the reasons behind it. People who are doing it might as well be doing it in good faith for me, but it is eating me up from inside, and I have this very valid fear that I can be let go any day.

Anyone with some considerable experience who has managed to survive through all this?

At this point, GG should just resign, and for once, be grateful and thankful

Same as the title.

It's about Indian cricket. Since the day GG has taken over as head coach, things have gone downhill. It's very recent in t20s, but overall, let us all agree, it has gone downhill.

Losing home test series that too multiple times, and that too a complete whitewash is NOT acceptable. 10 years back, it was a cake walk for us. No, I'm not dihhriding Virat Kohli, I'm just stating the facts.

And I will talk about the past, past coaches and past captains, because he built a system that helped our team literally demolish every opposition at home. It was not a job, but a responsibility of the current setup, to carry that forward.

Under Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma, we won against Australia and England at home. And those were bloody good teams!

We can't be going back and declining with our performance. One series is acceptable, considering team dynamics and the so-called 'transition', but losing and losing and losing every series is just plain unacceptable!

And the favorite word of GG, 'transition', is being used so conveniently by him. We drew against England last year, and in a very heroic arrogant tone he said, 'It's an Indian team, and we don't believe in this term'. The same person goes on to hide behind this same term after a humiliating series loss against South Africa, and now to England and Ireland.

No GG, you cannot be such a hypocrite! This is plain hypocrisy and arrogance, nothing else.

And on top of everything, his arrogance is so visible. I never, for once, imagined that I'll see GG being so arrogant and so full of himself as the head coach.

His actions, statements, results, everything is just coated in a thick batter of hypocrisy.

People who are waiting to jump on me with the 2 ICC trophies thing, stay away! Yes, we won the two ICC trophies! But, what else? Being humiliated in every damn series?

Dear GG, please, for god's sake, and for your own sake, resign respectfully, and just for once, be grateful for what you have achieved as part of the Indian cricket setup.

This is coming from a fan, who once admired you, and saw you as a selfless fierce leader. Please, for once, drop your arrogance and be grateful.

Same as the title.

So this is about our (KKR) most charismatic leader that we've had. He won us titles, and gave us the respect among the IPL spectrum that we all craved for.

But, this time, it's not about KKR. Still I'm writing this here because posting this at other places will bring up unnecessary hate comments, without any fruitful discussion.

This time it's about Indian cricket. Since the day GG has taken over as head coach, things have gone downhill. It's very recent in t20s, but overall, let us all agree, it has gone downhill.

I don't see myself as a husband and getting married. How do I communicate this to my parents?

From India

So 3 days back, it was my birthday, and I turned 29. My mom tried to initiate the discussion about marriage but I straightaway denied talking about it.

**Some background**. I have speech issues and I stammer. This has been a lifelong thing, and has impacted almost every aspect of my life, because you got to talk for everything, right?

My entire academic life was eclipsed by this issue, and I've been extremely conscious because of that. As I grew older, the negative experiences over time had a big dent in my confidence.

Then came a time (COVID lockdown), where I had ample time with me to do something about it. I practiced and practiced and practiced. Got control over it, and the next 2-3 years were the best thing that happened to me. Got a job (I work in the IT sector) after finishing my Post Graduation, and even though the new environment was overwhelming, my confidence with my speech helped me glide through that initial phase (everything being online also helped, maybe).

Over time, I made some great relations there, I was seeing myself achieve everything that I once dreamt of. I was confident, leadership trusted me, I was that go to guy for any tough implementations in my team. And during this phase, it wasn't like I had complete control on my speech. I still stammered badly during phases, but delusional me thought slowly this will also go away since I was gaining confidence in my work.

Decided to switch, and 3-4 offers (big thing for someone who struggled so much with his speech). Joined a big 4 in 2024, and slowly everything started to fall apart.

My speech came back to haunt me, and I didn't have any answers this time.

2024, and till July 2025, it was still okayish, as despite everything, I could still communicate.

But the last 9-10 months have been a nightmare. Took speech therapy a few months back, but managing such tough workload with therapy didn't do much wonders for me.

2-3 years back, I was seeing myself grow in confidence over time, and today, I see opportunities slip away just because I have a defective speech. It's so bad I can't communicate properly with my leadership with any issues. The only thing keeping me alive in my work are my technical skills, which is still somehow respected, I believe. But I've lost the leadership's trust because of this, and this is icking me so badly. Personal life is a mess. I don't have the confidence to call friends and maintain relations.

I have almost 5 years of experience, and everyday I just thank god that I didn't get fired and I earn a decent amount (1 L/M).

Got a surprise promotion in April, but not even for once I thought I deserved it.

Even though my current manager told me he and the teams support me, and credit to them, that they not for once have called out this issue negatively.

But they don't trust me either (and that is understandable).

I've lost all my confidence to go and talk to people. I know I've got to work on this, and get all of it back.

The point is, with all the issues I'm facing in my personal and professional life because of my speech, I don't think I should marry. And I'm not saying it with any kind of self pity.

I think, this is the most practical decision for me, as I have to make sure my career comes back on track first. I can't even think of starting a family where my own career, my own confidence, is so unstable because of something that is a part of me.

With ageing parents, career, health, handling so many responsibilities with a defective speech is a nightmare in itself. How can I think of taking such a big responsibility when I'm not sure about the future.

The point is, I'm into corporate, and I have realised that if you can't speak well, no one takes you seriously beyond a certain point. I've lost opportunities because of this (as I mentioned above).

The point is, I don't have it in me at this point to initiate marriage discussions, where arranged marriage is my only resort, and it's like advertising yourself in the market, where people look for perfection.

I could see an ocean of opportunities 2-3 years back, but with this hitting me like a truck, I don't have it in me anymore to fight it just to be good enough to enter the marriage market.

Without hurting them, or looking like a rebel, how do I make them understand this? I care about them a lot and I don't want to hurt them, but at the same time I want to make them understand my decision.

I see the pictures clicked on my birthday, and I could see so much affection in my mother's eyes, that I want to talk about this very carefully.

**TL;DR**: I recently turned 29, and when my mother brought up marriage on my birthday, I wasn't ready to even have that conversation. I've lived with a stammer all my life, and while months of dedicated practice during COVID helped me build confidence and succeed professionally for a while, the past year has been an emotional and professional setback as my speech difficulties have returned and started affecting my work and confidence again. Although I'm still valued for my technical skills and have even received a promotion, I no longer feel secure in my career or in myself, and I don't think it's fair to take on the responsibility of marriage when I'm struggling to regain stability. This isn't a decision driven by self-pity but by practicality—I want to rebuild my career and confidence before considering such a life-changing commitment, especially when arranged marriage is my only realistic option. My biggest challenge is explaining this to my parents, particularly my mother, without hurting them, because I know their concern comes from love, and I care deeply about their feelings

This is not related to music in general, but asking this here as this sub seems to be the most appropriate

So basically I have a speech impairment and I stammer. Off late it has been pretty bad and severe that has affected every aspect of my life. I work in a typical corporate setup and that is one of the reasons for such severe speech issues.

For that reason I'm in a bad personal space right now and I've lost confidence in my voice. I can't even hold a proper conversation with my family.

I'm 29 right now, and I like the concept of singing. I was thinking, if some singing training with some vocal exercises, can help me get back confidence in my voice? I don't want to be a professional singer. I just want to get back my confidence in my voice and if all goes well, I'd love to pursue singing as a hobby, because I love the skill. I admire people with this skill.

I know it's a different question, but any inputs on the above would work.

People who train in vocals and singing, please share your inputs.

Thank you SKY!

Yes, from the team's perspective, it is a fair decision. He wasn't scoring many runs, India just won a t20 WC under him, and with him being 35+, there may not be much to achieve.

But, the way he led the team, being a cool leader, is just admirable.

And remember, he is our original T20 superstar! His arrival was nothing short of box office, and he continued a great run with the ICT.

"Long offff, long offff, Suryakumar Yadav"

Thank you Suryakumar Yadav!

RCB, has taken over KKR in the big 3, and deservingly so

It's time, we start respecting RCB.

I'm in awe of how they turned it around. Andy Flower, DK. Mo Bobat, Captain fantastic Rajat Patidar, and most importantly the great VK, who completely surrendered to the leadership's vision and became a 600+ run bank for 4 consecutive seasons.

Congratulations RCB guys, you deserve this ecstasy.

Big brain Venky Mysore, and the money minded duo of SRK and Jay Mehta should start taking things more seriously now!

T20 cricket has evolved, and it's high time we create a bloody core and back it.

Folks who have worked in this kind of setup before, how would you rate this compared to what we have now

Same as the title.

I worked in the CG Noida office for sometime (which has a similar setup), and I think other than the furniture and setup being old, I'd prefer this kind of a cubicle setup instead of what we have nowadays.

There's literally no barrier or separator between two desks nowadays.

Any idea why we have what we have today?

Age groip of members of the KKR subreddit

With the kind of reactionary posts we see after every match, I'd actually want to know what's the average age group of KKR fans here.

I'm 29, so this will tell me if I'm the only uncle here.
