Moving to Pune (Kalyani Nagar) for first job, woman living alone, need advice on safe + quiet accommodation
Hi everyone,
I’ll be moving to Pune soon for my first job and my office is near WeWork Raheja Woods, Kalyani Nagar.
I’m trying to figure out accommodation and would really appreciate advice from people who actually live in Pune.
Some context:
• I’m a woman and safety is my highest priority.
• I’ve seen a few recent posts here about creepy incidents, thefts, women being followed, and frustrating experiences with police response, and honestly it made me more cautious while choosing where to stay. (check the comment for links to those actual incidents)
• I’m an extremely light sleeper, like VERY light sleeper level. Noise affects my sleep badly.
• I also have a 2-year plan for personal goals and need to study 2 to 3 hours every day after work, so having a quiet environment matters a lot.
• Because of this, I’m leaning toward a non-sharing room (private PG / studio / 1RK / private room in flat), but I have no idea whether that’s realistic for a first salary (around 50k).
Questions:
- Which areas around Kalyani Nagar are considered safer and more comfortable for women?
- Should I stay in Kalyani Nagar itself, or look at nearby areas?
- If I stay slightly farther away to save money, what areas make sense?
- How much would daily commuting cost (auto / bike taxi / cab) if staying farther?
- Roughly what do private PGs / private rooms / 1RKs cost?
