24F. I feel like I look super young and it annoys me a little bit.

How can I look less cute and more hot? Everyone that I meet in person is always surprised when they hear my age, they say I look much younger and it makes me feel bad.

I know looking young is a good thing but I feel pretty…stunted, I guess? Like I’m not actually growing up. It’s only a good thing if I hit 30.

Makeup tips and hair tips are appreciated. My face is a bit too long (the facial fat is hiding some of it) which is why I prefer this hairstyle.

London based tongue tie release - please help!

Hi everyone. I’m based in London, UK and I’ve had such a hard time looking for a private dentist who will do a frenectomy for me.

I’m 24 and I have trouble with the clarity of my speech and I stutter a lot. Had braces as a teenager. Recently, I’ve been getting a lot of shoulder pain and massaging wont make it go away.

One dentist said they don’t do frenectomies despite it being advertised on their website.

Another looked at my mouth and said mine wasn’t that bad, so there’s no need to do it. It was super annoying because he didn’t seem to know anything about tongue ties. He looked up an image on google and said “this is what it looks like, you can put your tongue on the roof of your mouth so you’re fine.”

Myofunctional therapy is super expensive and I don’t think I need that. It’s £780 for 4-5 sessions and you need to keep booking until they refer you to someone who can do it.

If you’re based in London, please help!

Calling everyone who got an email for the Spotify show in London

If the concert allows you to bring a plus one, I will gladly pay for the chance to go with you! I hope a signed Beabadoobee CD (Beatopia or This is How Tomorrow Moves) and £20 is enough in terms of payment.

WIP - Cardboard bookshelf!

I’m so happy and proud of myself. This was so fun to make.

It’s very study and surprisingly heavy. This is just over a month’s work.

I used cardboard, hot glue, masking tape and newspaper and magazines for the paper-mache layer.

It has three layers of cardboard that are all connected by vertical strips of cardboard, so that’s why it’s so strong.

Currently I need to sand this layer and then paint it. However, I need ideas! I really love illustration from children’s books and I was thinking of ways I could incorporate that into the final design.

But if I draw or paint on paper, would I need PVA glue to seal it? What about dust? And what kind of paper is thin enough to be used as another paper mache layer but also takes colour pencils and gouache well?

Is anyone else feeling super discouraged about actually getting a degree apprenticeship?

I’ve been applying for the last 2 years and I’ve been rejected every single time at different stages. I make sure to apply early but I always get a rejection email. I’m applying for technology and cybersecurity apprenticeships.

I’ve been to hackathons, went to tech events that varied from 3 days to one week, networked with people and nothing came of it. Going to an event when you’ve applied at that company does nothing for your application, even if it’s a week long.

I spoke to many of the degree apprentices at the week long event I went to and some of them said they used AI for their application or that they got a family member to complete the arctic shores assessment for them. It just makes me feel like I’m putting in so much effort and getting nothing out of it.

I don’t want to go to uni but I also don’t see the point in applying anymore. Every company wants something slightly different on your CV and I’m awful at the online assessments especially Arctic Shores.

If anyone has any advice that would be much appreciated, thank you.

Intense self harm urges after lifting weights?

Hey guys, I’m super confused right now. I went to the gym an hour ago. It was a weightlifting class. I sweated a lot and left feeling really drained and sleepy with a massive headache.

As I was walking home, I got the urge to hurt myself and it only got worse when I got home. I was literally like 2 minutes away from doing it even though I haven’t done it in months. Then it was like the feeling cleared a little bit and I’m feeling a little better. Headache is almost gone.

What was that? Does it happen to anybody else?

Is it worth getting checked out?

I’m debating whether or not it’s worth getting assessed for OSDD. For context, I live in the UK.

When I look at my experiences, it seems like they can all be explained away very easily. Well, except for a few.

The very first time I heard about DID/OSDD, I did some research by reading about it on a mental health website. Although I find this super embarrassing to talk about, I think it’s important to mention. As I was reading the symptoms, I got this massive tension headache in the centre of my forehead, my eyes rolled back in my head and I couldn’t move for about 2 minutes. It was absolutely terrifying.

I kept reading up about dissociative disorders but it would always happen so I stopped. It went away luckily. It only comes back if I’m actively reminded of OSDD/DID or I’m very stressed, like exhaustion or sensory overload.

Last year I did therapy for a year. It was Metallisation Based Therapy. During one of the sessions, my therapist asked me a question and as I was answering it, out of nowhere a child’s voice said “No, it’s not ___ it’s ____!!”. It shocked me so bad I almost looked around, even though the voice didn’t come from outside of me. Afterwards I replied to the voice and it apologised and said they just wanted to tell me that. I didn’t mention this to my therapist, it seemed too strange and embarrassing.

There was also not a lot of continuity in therapy for me. I’d say one thing, my therapist would bring it up the week after and I would feel horrified and weirded out that I ever said that. She’d also ask me to write after the session to get my thoughts down and I’d have to guess what I meant when she’d ask me because the words felt so foreign.

A few months ago I took part in a clinical trial/ double blind study where I was given either a placebo or psilocybin in an attempt to reduce self harm urges. On the dosing day, I felt really tingly and I did end up hearing a voice inside my head. It was one I’d heard before, in therapy. It freaked me out and I didn’t answer. It was a child’s voice.

And just today as I browsed this subreddit again out of curiosity, the eyes rolling back, feeling sleepy, losing control of my body for a moment all came back. Except when I finally gained strength again, I felt…off? My headache was completely gone, it felt like I was in a video game, my body aches were gone too.

I feel like this an extreme version of my subconscious mind making things up so I get more sympathy. Or maybe I need actual medical help. I’m not sure. I feel very ashamed about this. Like I’m faking this.

Any help would be appreciated.
