This is a long post, I dont intend to endorse my approach in any way. Im writing my heart out.

A Little background:

I graduated from a low-ranked IIT, with no placement in hand and a 6.99 cg, the period after grad was just painful with all the job searches and stuff. I have written some govt job exams and CAT to try my luck, and it didn't go so great (88 perc). Somehow, after a few months I got a job. Not so great pay, almost nearly half the CTC of the lowest package on our campus placements, but hey, at least it pays.     

CAT 2025

An year went by; I again gave those Govt exams with a little prep. It was better than before, so I decided to keep trying for it from now on. When the CAT application came, I just applied for the sake of it, with no specific intention to pursue an MBA. It was supposed to be the Last ever CAT attempt in my life, cuz it's of no use and it's ridiculously more expensive than my other exams.

Anyways, i gave the exam without any prep, ssly i just solved 1 PYQ the night before, just to get me into the mood. And then I just went back to my life after that. A couple of weeks later, the key came out and the predictors showed that I'm getting a faar faar better percentile this year, and I'm completely shocked and started panicking . Had talks with my IIM friends to calm down and start planning. The result came out later and the percentile is a few decimal higher than the predition itself. damn..

(actually speaking prepping for this Govt exams somehow kept my brain actve, so i guess that prep helped with this )

POST CAT:

I started watching videos on Youtube , writing down my SWOT, havig mock interviews with Chatgpt, watcing other's mock interviews on Theomi. Still talking with those friends, and maintaining my calm.

The intervews started and wow, that was one-of-a-kind experience, its almost like you are driving a car with no steering, those random aah questions with simple smiling faces.

My IIMK interview was jovial but very intimdating, JAP was pretty straight forward no cross questionings answered everything, B was just awesome and fun, C was a stress interview and i fumbled at most of my questions , even the WAT i wrote was missing the last 2 paras , I is okaish but i messed the extempore, M is just sh it , i just cr apped all over.

INTERVIEW RESULTS :

But atleast hey all the interviews are done , i can take a couple of weeks in peace. and those weeks flew like a swift . And now the results are coming, B straight up rejected from pgp, and Waitlsted in PGPBA, wow. Cal waitlsted me but kinda borderline convertible. Kozhikd really broke my heart with the inconvertible WL number, Only remaining Hope is JAP for a backup so i can lock some seat and submit my resignation. Guess what, Trichy is a disaster, Raipur is almost impossible, Ranchi is kinda convertible WL, wellll wait Kashipur Converted. but personally i never even remotely considered Kashipur, so , painfully had to let it go. Waited for Indore and again Waitlisted ( with a borderline chance) , trichy Waitlist commtment deadline is coming and i dont wnna spend 20k which I know is of no help and dont even know when ill recover it back.

This was soo depressing at this point , felt like i made a mistake in get into this hopes and stuff, with every passing day im dreading on the fact that i have to go through all this turmoil again next year, and god knows what score ill get in Cat , I was overeating out of stress, unable to concentrate on work . Oh my parents they recently started watching yt videos abt IIMs and they had their expectations so up in the air, my father who doesnt really care much abt religious stuff is bowing at a temple every day while going to his work . And all these were killing me . ughhh

FINAL VERDICT:

and you know what ? on the same day as its deadline for Trichy. i freakin converted Calcutta, i was amazed shocked surprised to see a new word other than Waitlst on my offer letter. I kept screaming and jumping around in my room. My parents reaction was priceless. But wow it was such a huge huge relief. Now im fighting withh my employer for early release and all these, but fine , this stress is no where close to the results stress so im dealing withh it.

This may be the least inspiring CAT story you may ever find, and it may look like luck played so big roll in this. But well may be its some sign for me, to take a second chance and not repeat the mistakes in my Under grad. Hope i improve myself.

I didn't want to get into my scores but since some are asking. 99.51 percentile, obc engineering male, 1yr work ex.

I have converted a college I really wanted . And was just jumping when I got the result.

I was all soo depressed seeing my waitlist numbers at all Clgs i gave interviews. Pushing me in self-doubt. But despite the situation. This community is the one that held me from going insane....

This sub was the only reason I used reddit, but this made me realise the significance reddit holds and the type of community bond it provides.

Im having so many emotions writing this but im literally not able to type anything.

Anywaysss thank you to this sub and the people to keeping it fun and active, directly or indirectly making someone's day.
