Yesterday (2026 August 17) a window fell from the high rise under construction at Richards/Drake and shattered in the intersection. Glass fragments scattered everywhere nearby (they are so lucky no one was injured!). Although a number of workers were dispensed into the street with brooms to clean up the mess, numerous bits of glass remain. Take care when biking here.
After starting in my 60s, and paddling for a decade, I've finally competed in a 20 km outrigger canoe race. It went pretty well. Vancouver offers such great opportunities for outdoor pursuits — I love it. My blog about the experience here: https://huliganhuligan.wordpress.com/2026/07/25/2026-07-25-lotus-iron-race-kupunas-huligans-win-bronze/
Our little band of merry seniors usually has a fine time on Tuesday morning rides. The most recent excursion provoked some humour that might be fun for other Vancouver cyclists, especially those who travel through Kitsilano. https://huliganhuligan.wordpress.com/2026/06/30/2026-06-30-erratic-explorers/
In 2004 July I visited Montreal and took this happy photo of a couple at Bonsecours Market. They agreed to be photographed. But I never got names or shared the picture with them afterwards. On the odd chance that someone recognizes them and wants to share the photo with them, please go ahead. Sorry for the delay!
