Getting Over the Fear of Shooting Subjects in Public

For those who do "street photography", how did you get over the fear (if any) of shooting subjects in public. Do you ask first? Does asking ruin the candid? Do you get to know them a little bit? Just want to hear everyones experiences

SMB Marketing Firm: AE to AM

Been with this SMB SEO/SaaS company for about a month and a half as an AE, in my previous role I was a BDM at a very small local MSP selling computer hardware to small local businesses and then signing them to 6-12 month maintenance and management contracts. Long cycle usually 3-5 months per deal just due to myself being the sole negotiator on the client side as well as on the supplier side. The thing I enjoyed about my last role was the long term relationship management with my clients. Checking in, solving problems, upselling at times, ect. So my problem lies in that as an AE now it's mainly run and gun pitch, demo, close, onto the next, standard stuff. My company has an opening for an AM which manages 150-200 client accounts doing that long term retention/upsell work. I want to make the switch from my current AE role to the AM. Has anyone done this before? How do I navigate that lateral jump? Is it too soon? Should I look into similar roles at other firms? I really do like the company and the product I've just been cold calling for 2-3 years now in this role and previous roles and I want to be more relationship/retention focused. Any help would be appreciated!
