Catchers with the highest FRV (Field Run Value, the Statcast metric that combines all of their individual defensive metrics) since they started tracking in 2018: #1 Austin Hedges #2 Patrick Bailey
I thought this was interesting, the two catchers with the highest FRV since they started tracking are a) both on the Guardians and b) have FAR AND AWAY the highest FRV.
Here's the top 10:
Austin Hedges 88 FRV
Patrick Bailey 85 FRV
Alejandro Kirk 57 FRV
Christian Vazquez 56 FRV
Jose Trevino 53 FRV
Yasmani Grandal 44 FRV
Cal Raleigh 43 FRV
Roberto Perez 39 FRV
Sean Murphy 37 FRV
Jonah Heim 31 FRV
This is due in large part to them being #1 and #2 in framing value (Hedges at 74, Bailey at 60, Grandal is #3 at 44), while Bailey is #2 at throwing, and Hedges is #6 at blocking.
Cleveland has a type! Roberto Perez is also in the top 10, and he played there for 8 years.
I mean I guess we don’t *have* to take on anyone, but still, it’s a free body on the roster ready to step in if we need. I don’t see why we wouldn’t choose to take advantage.
I got bored and found something good (or at least kinda good) that every team currently leads the league in. Apologies in advance to the White Sox and Athletics, who apparently lead baseball in absolutely nothing.

Does anyone know when away jerseys might drop?
I already have the inaugural jersey, and I want to get one with a player name, but as part of my personal rules for my jersey collection, I can’t repeat jersey variants. As a result, I can’t get any of the ones currently on sale since they’re the same variant as the inaugural.
Y’all these uniforms are actually SO FIRE irl 😭🙏🏽🔥
