It's not even synergy anymore it's just a movie studio that happens to have some crappy comics before a big release for some unnecessary context

Assuming the NBA moves forward with no punishment towards LA like the ESPN report says, would it be the biggest black mark in league history?

Arguably sports (yes even the Astros scandal because at least they got punished for it at all and face stigma still today) history. I've never seen a league openly condone cheating and while apathy is the main reaction to the non reaction it would still be an absolute turning point moment where you could point to as to why the Nba empire could crumble (if it's ever going to)

Comics recommendation for a small 1st grail?

Hey so let's say I wanted to get a first small grail let's say for 400 bucks what should I go with? Ironic for the sub but let's say I don't particularly care for the short term value and wanted to look for something for the long term. I'm pretty basic so anything Batman related, Spider-Man, X-Men, Daredevil would work. I lean more into modern stuff if it's a 50/50 but if something cool enough was older it wouldn't be a deal breaker. Thanks

10 Years ago this was the headline and image Kawhi had: "Rich People Who Can't Kick Their Frugal Spending Habits" Did he change or was this always who he was?

"The San Antonio Spurs' small forward, Leonard, 24, may have a five-year contract worth millions, but he still panicked when he thought he lost his Wingstop coupons for free wings, Sports Illustrated reported.

"He often drives a rehabbed '97 Chevy Tahoe, nicknamed Gas Guzzler, which he drove across southern California's Inland Empire as a teenager," according to Sports Illustrated.

"It runs," Leonard told Sports Illustrated, "and it's paid off."

He also spends his summers in a two-bedroom apartment in San Diego, when he could likely afford an expansive coastal mansion, the magazine reported"

Different article:

In the words of Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, some players want to be great, and some want to be stars.

Kawhi Leonard is well on his way to being great. But he really couldn't care less about being a star. It's a theme that comes through time and time again in an incredible feature on the Spurs' most important player, in which Leonard's teammates, coaches, bosses and family let the world know that this is how Leonard's always been.

And given Leonard's tendency to shy away from the glitz and glamour of NBA stardom, we're not at all surprised by his choice of vehicle in the San Antonio area -- an old truck that Leonard drives because, well, it still runs (via Sports Illustrated): Blue book value on that baby is about $1,150, depending on your zip code. Not bad.

And sure, Leonard could drive a nice, brand new car if he wanted to. He probably has a newer vehicle somewhere in his garage. But that's just the way that Leonard rolls. In fact, before he was driving the Tahoe, Leonard was cruising around in a Chevy Malibu that he had at San Diego State, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. The Tahoe had been sitting at his grandma's place, until Leonard had it fixed. We wonder if he took it to Tim Duncan's garage and tried to get that teammate discount.

Because let's face it -- Leonard's obviously super-frugal. The only time anyone's seen him sweat is when he lost the complimentary coupons that food franchise WingStop gave him for being a sponsor.

This, of course, after he signed a multi-million dollar deal that enabled him to buy wings for the entire planet if he saw fit. But don't worry; he got a replacement booklet of coupons, so Leonard can once again get his chicken on -- say, after showing zero reaction to a game-winner, like he did earlier this season against the Magic:

How many reprints do you think Dc has before they run out of colors for the cover?

Shown in pic is the new 12th printing. The Infinite glitch strategy of: Launch new historic printing, people buy believing it's the last one, launch again

Why do we crave scarcity in a medium that's gone past it?

From 1st prints to foils, exclusive covers from specific artists and ashcans why do we only want "the best" (even if it's sometimes worse like an ashcan for example having no color and only a few pages) of a comic issue that's dictated by an invisible market that's probably controlled by a few telling us what we should value. With so many reprints that look awesome why do we still want what is the hardest to get

Insane modern stat: For most nba players shooting 41% from 3 at volume would be a career year, for Steph Curry it would lower his career average

With his career average being 42.2% and at a ridiculous 9.4 attempts a game. The greatest shooter of all time. (Mind you these numbers are that crazy without removing his heaves which the nba now does or his worst season in 2020 when he broke his wrist and only shot 25% from 3)

In his 15/16 Mvp year, Steph shot a ridiculous 45.4% from 3 despite taking 886 (11/game). With a PPA of 1.36 (for his 3s) a big man would have to shoot 68% at the rim to match his efficiency

*PPA (points per attempt) So to the people who seemed to think that he shot a higher % that he already did weren't imagining it, his 3 shot was basically worth what a an all time big man was inside, just on the wing. On top of that he shot a ridiculous 67% TS% overall so he would shred you even harder inside and never missed at the line where he shot 91% but even from outside his dominance wasn't being viewed with the lens it should have been. Nothing really eye popping here just Steph glaze

New York sues Kalshi, says prediction market is running 'illegal gambling operation'

Key Points:

  • New York state on Friday sued Kalshi in a Manhattan state court, claiming that the company is illegally operating a gambling platform.

  • Kalshi expressed disappointment with the decision by the state, saying that New York can’t shut down a federally-licensed financial exchange.

New York state sued prediction market platform Kalshi on Friday, alleging that the company is running an “illegal gambling operation.”

In a case filed in a Manhattan state court, the lawsuit claims that Kalshi accepts wagers as a gambling business in disregard for the state’s constitution and laws by not being registered with the New York State Gaming Commission.

“No matter what they call themselves, prediction markets like Kalshi are gambling platforms, plain and simple,” said New York Attorney General Letitia James in a press release announcing the lawsuit. “By ignoring our laws, Kalshi is running an illegal operation and harming New Yorkers in the process.”

Not sure why I didn't think of this earlier but wouldn't Absolute Joker just be a normal guy if he were transported to Earth Prime?

Like in theory his whole shtick is somehow understanding that there was something wrong in his universe and the normality of it broke him but would he just be chill in earth prime? Like everything ticks fine here no more being a demon lol
