How can I convince my parents to travel here all by myself?
I M22 live with my parents and they don't like it when I go off by myself. I do travel sometimes, but it's only acceptable if I'm with someone else. There's this one convention that I want to go to in the next two months, and while I spend days there I also want to go to places in Hollywood, but I can't afford to bring someone else over, so I have to go by myself. How do I convince them to let me go there? The main concern for them is my saftey. They always say that it's dangerous everywhere I go, that there are bad people out there, and I fully understand that. I know that the world is a cruel, harsh and dangerous place and I need to watch over myself and check my surroudings, but that doesn't mean I should have to miss out on an important event for me just because I couldn't afford a baby sitter that I never wanted. Is there any way I can speak to them, so when the time comes they will be okay with me going? What should I research, and what types of street smarts I should learn, and tell them about?
One major criticism that I have with Groove is that it likes to pretend that Megamix doesn't exist
There was a lot of cool features that Megamix did with the menu being this slide in with those cardboard cutoutts of characters, how each section had a character to represent them, how it had a story to it, how the bottom screen on the 3ds tracked how precise your moves were, how they would give you a score to tell how well you did, how they also gave you a no miss detector (I'm really bummed about the last three because it was a really great way to track your progress and see what you can do better, and give you the confidence to go for a perfect), like none of that is prevalent. The only thing Groove took from Megamix's book was the extra side panel which should've been used when you didn't get sequel titles, or made it to remix 10. It's just weird with how they cut so many things I liked from Megamix

Is it too late to work in corporate game dev? Should I rethink a new career path?
Hi, I'm majoring in computer engineering, with a minor in applied art, and game design, and I wanted to work in game design, whether it be the programming, story, level design, and concept art/visual development. I have been hearing so many horror stories about working as a game dev since 2018. Rather it be crunch culture, where people are working overtime and getting tired from work, underpay where people aren't getting enough money for their work, workplace harassment, and abuse, AI taking positions. And the part that's really making me making me rethink, layoffs! Thousands of people are losing their jobs in the industry, and I'm worried with the way how everything is going, continuing to pursue game design despite everything is like running into a mine. Should I rethink a new career path, or should I just persevere, and just try to do more research on which jobs I should apply to?
Here's why Teto's transition to Synthesizer V, has been the most successful transition to a different engine compared to other characters
I see a lot of people questioning why their faves didn't get the success Teto had when they transitioned to another engine, or got that AI update, and I feel like we need to explain what made Teto's transition successful, to explain why others didn't have the huge boom.
We have to start with Teto's origin, and as a character. She released as an April Fool's prank, fooling people into thinking she's a new Vocaloid, but when the truth got out that she wasn't coming, people have labeled her as the "Fake Diva, that wanted to become a real Vocaloid". Now she received a voicebank on UTAU. An engine that functions like Vocaloid, but due to the third-party creation of it, and how it was amateur in comparison to Vocaloid, UTAU wouldn't have much of a competitive chance against Vocaloid (tbh I think UTAU is lowkey better than Vocaloid, in terms of realism, because I have seen some people who have used UTAU to make voices sound so much more realistic than Vocaloid, that I almost thought a human was singing some of these songs).
Even though Teto was confirmed fake, she still had a very big presence within the Vocaloid scene, appearing in fanart, concerts, and original songs, some with Hatsune Miku, to where people to this day, still confuse her as a Vocaloid.
When Teto received her Synthesizer V voicebank, it became a big deal. Even though it wasn't her true goal, rather to become a Vocaloid, since Synthesizer V is considered to be the industry standard vocal-synth engine, despite it being (and still) niche compared to Vocaloid. It felt like Teto had finally became a serious commercial voicebank, that she no longer had that "Fake Diva", status. And I believe that this transition to Synthesizer V instead of Vocaloid was the much better option.
One thing that I noticed in the modern fandom, is that most of the new characters getting attention, are on other engines outside of Vocaloid such as Yi Xi, KAFU, Adachi Rei, Chis-A, Solaria, Koharu Rikka, Zundamon, UI (bleh), and others. While there are new characters coming to Vocaloid such as Fuiro, Po-uta, Vocal no Ci-Chan, and Hibiki Koto, they never had that much fanfare, in the fandom, and I think it's mainly because Vocaloid 6 voicebanks are not the industry standard voicebanks compared to the competition. With SynthV being the standard, new characters getting popular on other engines, and Teto having her "Fake Diva" status, her Synthesizer V switch just became more popular.
Which also explain why other characters didn't get a spark of popularity in comparison. There were UTAUs that did go to Synthesizer V, but didn't see much of a spike was for many reasons. 1. They didn't have that "Fake Diva" Status, and didn't have a huge amount of global fanfare during their UTAU days where the switch changed their status (All of them). 2. They had their voicebanks before the AI craze (Yamine Renri, Haiyi, and Cangqiong). 3. Some were native Chinese voicebanks, and chinaloids don't get much fanfare in the global fandom in comparison to Japanese voicebanks (XIA YU XIAO, OSCAR, Haiyi, and Cangqiong). 4. Their UTAU voicebanks were private, so people weren't even able to see what they were all about before coming to SynthV (Haiyi and Cangqiong).
There were also other Vocaloids, well known ones like GUMI, Una, and Kiyoteru that got into Synthesizer V, but also didn't get that spark because, like I said in the last paragraph, they didn't have their "Fake Diva" status. They were already the industry standard voicebanks, on the industry standard at the time Vocaloid, especially with GUMI, since Internet Co. wants to make the highest quality voicebanks they can have at the time. It didn't feel like a shift in character, but the natural evolution to what's hot at the time.
Other UTAUs also got Teto's wish, such as Macne Nana, Macne Petit, Shiki Rowen, Gekiyaku, Kazehiki, Nurse Robot Type T, and soon Adachi Rei, and Ooka Miko, but they didn't receive too much fanfare because they are UTAUs that did have a certain amount of popularity, but not enough to have seats with iconic Vocaloids such as GUMI and the Piapro Charcters in terms of memorable songs. Adachi Rei would be the closest to it, but I honestly think she won't get a spike in popularity, because she already has a huge fanfare in the modern Vocal Synth space, her coming to Vocaloid, may be a status, but she never had the "Fake Diva" storyline to really change her. Especially since most people know her for having a garbage voicebank, seeing that same garbage quality voicebank, but now on Vocaloid isn't really going to make people choose Vocaloid over her, especially since she has a Diffsinger voicebank, so why use Vocaloid, where there's a version of her for free. Ooka Miko may be in the similar boat with Teto in terms of being a Vipperloid, but she doesn't have that big amount of popularity Teto has had to see the character have a big shift in character.
So in conclusion, Teto's SynthV transition became a hit due to her label, her release, and the contribution she has done for the community before the switch.
Hot take: People who say that the 7th generation is not retro, are just people who cannot accept the fact that they're getting old
I get it, time is moving so fast, that the things you grew up with as a kid are now are old enough to do adult things, and it's making you feel bad because you thought that when you became an adult you would have alot more atonomy over your life, and you thought you were going to live in a nice house with a job that you like, but instead your shitty job can't even pay for cheapest apartment, and all of those dreams and expectations you had as a kid are now fading away, and you have WAY less time than you had before, and your feet are hurting from your shitty job, and all of your applications from intetnships deny you! So now seeing the things you like getting old means that the world is changing, but you're unable to change with the world (I'm totally not self-projecting. Not at all), but these consoles are so old now like if you took the dates these consoles released in 20 years later, it would be the day the NES came out. They're retro man, deal with it.
*the Xbox 360 will be able to in November

I want to reclaim Ash from Streets of Rage
Tbf I haven't played Streets of Rage, and only watched a video essay on the game, that spoke a bit about him, but like I want to reclaim him as a gay video game icon. And I know that he's a problematic stereyotype, but I feel like the only reason why was the culture at that time, in the game he was made in. Like in the 90s there weren't alot of LGBT characters in gaming, and gaming still was marketed as the manly-boys thing, so obviously this character was made to mock gay men at that time. But in this new era of gaming where we get to see so many diverse gay men, Ash looking like this would be shown as a personal character design choice, rather than a mocking stereyotype. And I mean look at him. He gets to slay in that skimpy outfit. I want to play as the hero who get slutted up like this, saving the day! I would love to see a-beat em up with a character with the snazz and style as him (I already know kings of hell exists so don't say anything about that one), or a spin-off where Ash takes the main lead. The only reason why he was problematic was because they devs were mocking him. If they took him seriously and rolled with the campiness, he would be such a gayming icon.
Paparazzi Murder Party Cover - Kagami Kawaiine ft. SEKAI
youtube.comFor the five most popular languages in Vocaloid, there is at least one character that can perfectly represent that language for four of them. Miku for Japanese, Luo Tianyi for Chinese, SeeU for Korean, and Maika for Spanish. But for English, there isn't any character that fully represents the English side of the Vocaloid Community.
Sure you have Oliver, but he only has like 3 songs a casual fan would know. Avanna got carried with Porter Robison, so any songs of her that aren't made by him don't get any attention, DEX has some songs, but fails to stay relevant in the modern era, Eleanor is a liked English VB, but most people know her as the weathergirl character (not to mention she's partially discontinued). Solaria is also liked and has some really good English songs, but still suffers like Eleanor for being in that one GHOST song, (which was also a demo song, at least she isn't discontinued). Teto, GUMI, and even Miku have some well known English songs every causal fan should know (Especially since GUMI's most viewed and iconic song is an English one), but they are native Japanese Vocaloids, so they are disqualified. Why isn't there and what can we do about it?
