Is it possible to transfer my avios points to my wife so she can transfer it to her personal QR account?

Hi, we have an an upcoming flight we'd like to upgrade. However QR have new strict rules limiting new account holders from upgrading flights for family members. A work around I'm considering is this - Amex > BA> transfer all points (80,000) to my wife > she moves them to her QR (old and compliant) > she upgrades our flights. Does anyone see any
Issues with this approach or have a better suggestion for us? Thanks.

Strict new QA rules and flight upgrade

Hi, we've met with a bit of bad luck and would like to ask if anyone here has been able to find a good workaround. QA recently changed their rules for flight upgrades using Avios. Basically new QA PC customers cannot use their Avios flight to upgrade family/friends unless their account is 30 days old + they have flown recently. My husband is our primary card holder and his QA account is brand new. We have a QA flight that we have been hoping to upgrade for a while. Our original plan was Amex > BA > QA > upgrade. However now it seems that my husband can move all avios points to QA from BA and upgrade his flight but he cannot upgrade mine. We are looking for workarounds. Amex has said that he cannot transfer his points to me (I have an old and active QA account). One option was are exploring is Amex > BA > BA family pool > ??? Is there anyone here who has managed to find a work around? We have a special vacation coming up and the points to upgrade and it would be a damn shame if this new policy prevents us from using our points.

It also seems like as time closes in, rewards flights are closing. Can we only use avios to upgrade rewards seats? Our base ticket is a cash fair ticket (N class). ARN > DOH

New Qatar Air restrictions on using Avios to upgrade family members

Hi, we've met with a bit of bad luck and would like to ask if anyone here has been able to find a good workaround. QA recently changed their rules for flight upgrades using Avios. Need help accessing our Avios points for a biz class upgrade. Unclear support from QA staff.

Hi, my husband has accumulated enough avios points via American Express points to upgrade both our flights to DOH for an upcoming trip. The Avios points are sitting in a BA account as that was the most favourable conversion from Amex. We are flying QA and have economy tickets right now. In order to use these avios points to upgrade our flight my husband was asked to create a QA account. He has never had one before. New QA rules say that he should be a member and have 1 QA flights completed in the past 30 days in order to upgrade both of our flights using his points which sounds so silly to me if he already has the points and plan to move them to QA account. Do I understand this rule correctly? Are there workarounds? How does QA plan to attract new customers if they don't allow them to use their points to upgrade flights for their family? My husband has flown QA multiple times but 3 years ago and via my account. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Weird new privileged club policy - need clarification

I have enough avios points in my (brand new) BA account for an upgrade. I am flying in 3 weeks on a QA flight. I want to move my avios points from my BA account to my QA account and use it to upgrade my ticket + my wife's ticket. Checked with BA, no issue on their side.

QA says I cannot use my account to upgrade both our flights because my account is less than 30 days old + I have not flown QA in the last 30 days. This seems bizarre to me. I have enough points for us both. Does anyone know of a workaround? Agents are really bad an explaining it to me and I'm still not sure if I understood clearly. Thanks.

Soft launch vs full launch

Hi all, I am launching a limited fine jewelry brand this September. I would like some advice on my launch strategy. I have a website ready to go + 1 sample item (everything will be made to order). But still waiting on some final logistics.

Question: would it be best to begin soft launching my social media now and collect a following via ads for when we do fully launch in September or should I wait to launch all at once and go right into taking orders?

I would like to gather some Press in September and I feel this is easier to do if I did soft launch and start with some educating about my product etc. And maybe to a sign up page. But I also don't know if customers will forget about my product after the summer holidays and I have to reactivate them if I soft launch and launch this many months apart.

Thanks.

Press pitch to Vogue Scandinavia

Hi all, I am a founder and creative director of a fine jewelry brand that plans to launch in sept. I strongly believe my brand has an edge in the scandi fine jewelry space and think there could be a compelling story there for vogue. Since my brand is pre launch and our items are largely made-to-order, I'm quite unsure of how to approach our media strategy. A dream would be an organic product placement or feature in VS to build credibility. What advice do you have to approach this given the constraints of my business?

Note: I understand that the traditional route to take would be to hire a PR firm. But id love to do this myself. I'm looking for advice on approach etc given that i dont really have a lot of physical products made as it's a made to order biz and I would ideally like some press cover around or before launch.

Thanks in advance!
