Do you deliberately cock your wrists in the back swing?

I’ve been experimenting with cocking the wrists slightly while trying to stay on plane and not roll the wrists off plane. It seems to help my consistency.

Is the June gloom unusually heavy this year (2026)?

I had thought the burgeoning El Nino we keep hearing about would raise the water temperature near Santa Cruz and we would see less fog. The opposite is happening. I don't remember this much heavy fog in any recent June.

Could the Omaha Beach D-Day landings reduce casualties by having the first 5000 ashore race off the landing boats on 2-stroke dirt bikes?

Think about placing 2 guys with a flamethrower on each motorcycle. They could have raced to the rear of the bunkers and torched them.

Good iPhone app for binocular astronomy?

I really enjoyed a recent local museum exhibit of astronomy photography. I am a beginner. I have a trip in July to a mountain range in California with no light pollution. I want to try some binocular star viewing. I have one pair that is 8x25 and another at 7x50. Will these work okay? What iPhone app can I use as a guide?

Is downloading the Palisades Cable Car still available for hikers?

It has been a few years since I did the Shirley Canyon hike. I may do it with friends this week. Can hikers still ride the cable car tram down for free?

What do you think of Republican Senator Thom Tillis saying this of candidates for US Attorney General: "They better not have said for one minute that the people that beat up police officers … were righteous people"?

President Trump is furious at Tillis for holding up the nomination of Todd Blanche for Attorney General.

Have you tried Matt Fitzpatrick's shoulder shrug?

I tried this on the range today and it helps avoid extending my arms too far away from my body from the shoulders. The net result is a more square shoulder set up and on-plane swing.

How do the E-Street Band members have the physical stamina for 3+ hour shows?

I was at the show in Philadelphia. Max Weinberg put on a very physical show. How do he and the other bandmates in their late 70's maintain their physical fitness?

Tools for more easily threading leaders into small flies

I have a small tremor in my hands (benign essential tremor) and I am having a harder time rigging flies now in my 60's. I am seeing ads for small devices (e.g. Fly Roost 2.0) to aid in threading the leader into small hooks. They look great to me but I'd like to hear what works for you before buying anything.

Transitioning out of the education system. Advice for finding adult group homes in California

My daughter is 18. She has a genetic neurodevelopmental disorder that presents as autism, epilepsy, and developmental disability. She is currently in a residential school setting for autistic teenagers. She is non-verbal, and her biggest challenge is responding to stress or task avoidance with physical aggression.

She is in a great situation now. I wish we could stay forever. Her school home has 7x24 behavioral support and she has bonded well with her caregivers. She will age out of this placement at age 22. She is out of state now and I would like her next home to be closer to home inside California.

I am working with the regional center but, taking from my experience with the ed system, I expect I will personally have to drive the process for the next placement to get the right outcome for her. I was thinking for looking at all group homes within a 50 mile radius to get started but I am not sure that is the right approach. I'd love to hear what worked for your family.
