Are there any UK-based engineers who have worked with TwistedPair? What are your opinions on them?

I'm not especially happy at my current company and have been gently investigating the larger UK AV integrators. You never know until you try. I've subcontracted to Twisted previously, but I know nothing about them.

Does anyone here have any work experience with them, or have you contracted them for anything?

Thanks!

Why is my 2017 Toyota Aygo X-Press VVT-I CVT making this wheezing noise?

It's been making this noise for about a year now, but I've been (stupidly) ignoring it. It happens in a rhythm, wheezing and then quieting down, then starting up again a few seconds later, over and over. It does this immediately after starting the car and continues all the way up until I park. It's loud and very intrusive. I've had the car for almost 3 years.

Today was the first time I noticed the buzzing sound that precedes it. I'm getting the car taken in for a service very soon, but what should I tell the garage?

UK Engineers - what is your experience with GVAV?

I'm having a look at a handful of national companies, more for my general knowledge than anything else. Just so I can better understand what the AV landscape looks like in the UK. Any idea what it might be like to work for them?

Has anyone here ever worked for GVAV, or know anything about them in any level of detail? I've subcontracted for them for the London School of Economics, but I've had no dealings with them beyond that.

Thanks!

My company has commissioned a University lecture theatre. We have discovered that the Spotify web app is ~8-10dB louder than everything else. How can I fix this across every student account?

My company just finished commissioning a large scale lecture theatre at a university. It's all been signed off and handed over. Our contact has gone into the lecture theatre to collect photos and videos of the room working. He decided to open the Spotify web interface in the room's Windows PC and play music and found that it is way louder than all other audio sources.

Apparently this is a thing. The Spotify webpage is a lot louder than our other audio sources. We want to avoid students coming into the room, cranking up the volume to max, throwing on Spotify and blowing the speakers.

However, if there is a solution to this, the university is not able to make a global change. The students all have their own Windows accounts, and the management team don't have access to them. This means, no changing Spotify settings globally.

Is there anything else at all that can be done, to reduce the level of the spotify web interface, in a way where it will reduce it across every student's account? I doubt there is.

Obviously we can be brought back in to recommission the room, but the client is asking me as a favour to see if I can problem-solve before it reaches that point. I'm not getting paid extra for re-visiting a site, so I'm inclined to do this favour for this client.

Struggling with erectile dysfunction, looking for subs for advice. Haven't got anything from the subs in my post body:

Looked at r/erectiledysfunction, but it looks like it's largely unmoderated with no standards, just a bunch of immature people giving bad advice and joking back and forth.

Tried r/menshealth but haven't received any replies.

Where else can I talk to people for advice? I am pursuing therapy - I'm not trying to use Reddit as a replacement for therapy. I'm just trying to talk to as many people with good advice as I can.

Thanks!

What's a reasonable price, in British Pounds, to sell my Denon DN-500BD MKII BluRay player for?

Note to mods: I am not looking to sell this device to anyone in this sub. I am not breaking any rules.

EDIT: No further input is needed, I know my price point now. Thanks!

A few years ago, after working on a live event at a local school, my boss asked if I wanted to take home a Denon DN-500BD MKII BluRay player. I haven't so much as touched it in the 4 years I've owned it.

I didn't get anything else with it, so I currently don't have any cabling, and I have no IR remote control or original packaging. It only has the rack-mount wings that were already attached. I intend to supply an IEC and an HDMI at the very least. The remote controls are fairly expensive, so I don't really intend to buy one unless it boosts the sell value a fair amount.

I know this model is a few years old, and BluRay is getting to be an outdated medium anyway. So I'm not intending to gouge anyone on this (like some people on eBay trying to sell it for £400 plus.)

What would be a fair price for this device as-is? Would it be worth my time to buy a remote to bundle with it?

This is going to be the best long weekend I've ever had.

My Chemical Romance with Joan Jett, and System of a Down with Queens of the Stone Age. 4 bucket list artists in the space of 4 days!

Edit: I've never heard of Acid Bath but I'm excited to find out about them.

I keep getting locked out of Crestron TSW-770 touch panels at random. Does this happen to anyone else?

Just getting in ahead of all the "It's Crestron, what did you expect" comments. I get it. I'm just looking for other people's experiences.

I'm on a long-term job commissioning about a dozen rooms on my jobsite. Each room has a lectern with the exact same equipment in it. As part of the commissioning process, I need to get into a CP4 and a TSW-770 touch panel, activate DHCP, upload programs, change hostnames, update firmware, etc.

I have no issues with the CP4, but if I do almost anything with the touch panel and save my changes, I get blocked at the login page, where it tells me "Login Failed: Your user account is blocked" and I need to wait an hour to be let back in. Does this happen to anyone else? I feel like this is fairly new, like it's a firmware problem or something. I don't remember this happening more than say a year ago.

I don't really need solutions, I just want to make sure it's not something with my laptop or my network connection.

Changing Parents on the Website?

Hi all,

I'm taking a look at my family tree as I know embarrassingly little about my immediate family. My current issue is: I have listed all my aunts and uncles as children of my maternal grandpa - when in reality they were all born from a previous marriage.

I have added this person to the family tree and amended the existing relationships - however this means that my aunts and uncles are all listed as having two biological fathers. How can I change this? And is there any way to list this guy as an ex-spouse? I think my grandpa legally adopted them after the marriage to my grandmother - so ideally my aunts and uncles would have a biological father and an adoptive father.

I think this can be done on the mobile app but I'm struggling to find it on the web version.

Lapsed fan just checking in on the community.

Hi guys. I read Homestuck in one fell swoop over a period of 3 weeks back in like 2020. Loved the story, got really into the community for a while. (I produced the incredibly shitty outro music that was used on the first episode of Perfectly Generic Podcast in like the late 2010s.)

I tried reading the epilogues and HS^2 but at that point, I think it had just become TOO MUCH Homestuck, and I just fell off of it. I have Hiveswap Act 1 and 2 and all the Friendsim chapters. Excited about Hiveswap 3 being announced today!

I recall HS^2 having a bit of a mixed reception, and I just wanted to see what the general consensus is on it like half a decade later. I'm 31 now and I don't think I have it in me anymore to go read this shenanigans for myself.
