My silly boy, Leo

My little sweetheart, Leo, sometimes sleeps in his bed but with his head on the floor. He also loves his panda. He is blind and is the cutest, sweetest, cuddliest, bestest boy in the whole world!

Health issue

My husband and I have been married for 21 years and I love him very much. Both of us have had various health problems and we are mostly pretty supportive of each other. He had a heart attack 16 years ago and the problem is, he vapes incessantly.

I know that I can’t control him but now it’s hurting my health also. I’ve had asthma for years and was recently diagnosed with COPD. It’s been devastating and I am having severe anxiety because of it.

My pulmonologist said that I need to have better air quality if I have any hope of stopping the progression. I’ve asked, begged, cried so many times to my husband to please not vape in the house. He does anyway. It’s hard to understand why he won’t stop, but he said he “forgets”. It’s so second nature that it’s just a reflex.

I realize nicotine is a terrible addiction, but I am at my wits end. I don’t want to leave but I don’t want to die either from this either. He is kind and loving, in every other way. He is responsible, financially supportive and a good person and friend.

He stopped previously when he needed a surgery and the doctor wouldn’t do it unless he quit. He started again immediately after. I truly don’t know what to do. I know that there is no simple solution but I could really use some advice. What is worse, being alone, aged and unwell, or staying with someone who is slowly hurting me? (Thank you sincerely for reading this)

TL;DR - my otherwise loving husband will not quit vaping in our home despite my pleas and health problems.

My Walmart shopping experience

Today I had the most unhinged experience shopping in my entire life. I’m asthmatic and have put off shopping since the extreme heat.

I put $275 worth of groceries, OTC meds & cleaning supplies and checked out. The young man, ironically named Eden, proceeded to crush my chips, squish my bread, put 7 cans plus one glass jar in one bag, put milk in bags when I asked him not to, left things without handles out of bags. Frozen stuff was not together although I put it that way on the conveyor. There is no question that he intentionally did it all, and then looked me in the eye, as if daring me to question it and said nothing.

I was stunned, and wanted to walk away and leave it all there, but I needed food and didn’t have time to do it all again. I mentioned it to a man doing carts and he said, “Really?”.

I tried calling the manager after I got home and put everything away, got put on hold, got hung up on and tried several more times for my call to not be answered again with a recording saying that I should try later.

I’m not going to try again. I will go somewhere else now. I can only hope that someone from Corporate will see this and do something, but my suspicion is that no one will care. I hope I am wrong, but I don’t think so.

Data Center - StL County Executive wants to update the county zoning ordinance without approval from voters

County Executive Dr Sam Page wants to update the county zoning ordinance for future data centers. Residents have not agreed to construction of new data centers in addition to the ones that already exist.

Updates to the ordinance regarding data centers should first be determined by voters in a municipal election. There is no reason to invest working on an update to an ordinance if residents are opposed to having more data centers. One reason that council members would push for such an update without voters consent is if the council would personally benefit from it.

Residents concerns about energy use, construction impacts, diesel fuel storage, wildlife, permanent employment, noise and the drinking water supply continue unanswered. Issues including electeds agreeing to non-disclosure agreements and tax abatement for data centers continue to threaten the residents and businesses that are already exist in St Louis.

The more improvements there are to the architecture for AI, the less data centers are needed to run it. More data centers are not needed until and unless evidence from uninvolved third parties indicate the necessity. The evidence should include data from projects that are already underway and those that have already been approved.

Going forward, it is imperative that the Council members operate in a manner that is transparent to the residents and businesses that got the council members elected to their respective positions. Residents do not need or want any business that threatens the environment or the economy, nor do they want any elected officials that are not working in the best interests of their constituents.

There is a work session first and then the public session with the City Council will follow and is scheduled to begin at 7pm tonight at St Charles City Hall.

The city’s Zoning Commission has already approved the project and voted 7-3 in favor of the proposed project.

This is an information meeting with no final decision vote scheduled for tonight.

Residents concerns about water quality, energy use, construction impacts, diesel fuel storage, wildlife, permanent employment, and the city drinking water supply remain. Issues including electeds use of non-disclosure agreements and tax abatement for data centers continue to threaten the residents and businesses that are already operating in St Charles.

Going forward, it is imperative that the Council members operate in a manner that is transparent to the residents and businesses that got the council members elected to their respective positions. St Charles is the wealthiest county in the state and doesn’t need or want any business that threatens the environment or the economy.
