A bit of a lighter chapter while I get my bearings on what I want for the rest of the festival arc. The next part of Way Of The Maid is coming, with the creme brulée, but I'm going to do some original art for the arc, too.
Secondly, this edit isn't a main manga chapter, as you can see. Instead, it's from Maid's Kitchen, a SOL miniseries published on the same magazine, Comic Yurihime. First chapter honestly was kind of boring, but I like this one better. I'm probably going to read this while I wait for chapter 64 to come out.
Thirdly, I didn't know what a Cake Salé was until looking it up. I don't like ham, so imagine my horror as I looked at a cake with my arch nemesis in pork form front and center.

Basically, I recently had the intrusive thought if, despite not even finishing part 1 of the series in terms of planning for Brainrot, coming up with the idea for a version of TAAFM for the AU. Mostly because I came up with way too good of a parody title. I couldn't not think about the idea of calling it "Put 'Em Up and Fight Me", and it has since ruined my day because May's hair genuinely gave me headaches for some reason. I've only just started art, bear with me if it wildly fluctuates in quality.
The idea was that it is kinda an entirely original plot following, pretty much, directly from part 1 of Wataoshi to the time period of TAAFM. Some stuff from vol. 3-5 happen, but not to the extent in canon.
Anyways, Claire and Rei adopt Aleah and May like in canon, but the biggest difference comes from one thing: Aleah and May grow to genuinely DESPISE the other as they reach high school, where now their beef has basically spread to their immediate circle of friends and extended family. Mostly due to them being compared to one another. Maybe also being a very specific series of events kickstarting the beef, idk.
Aleah probably acts more like early canon Claire and a bit of Misha, and May takes more after canon Rei and Brainrot Rod in the enthusiasm and violemce department. A calculating, strategizing villainess-type character, and her sister who just wants to punch her lights out. All as their mothers are currently trying to calm them down to absolutely no avail.

If this chapter is a bit awkwardly paced, I'm sorry, primarily what I'm doing is seeing how I can play around with the format to make the Manaria arc a bit more bearable to write around by adding pages. It's just an incredibly straight-forward arc.
And also providing probably one of the biggest differences from canon Wataoshi aside from personalities and Rei's backstory : Rod and Lene are now the first people who know Rei's at least not from their time, if not from their world entirely. I'm setting up a bit about Rei knowing about the Commoner Movement right after the cafe, too.

This is my favorite chapter in the original manga for a reason. I will shout from the rooftops that Lene is my favorite. It's also just a really cute chapter, and I like Lene and Rae's relationship between each other and with Claire.
Sadly, Lorek x Lambert was never a thing. That would have made this whole arc funnier.
Here's just my thoughts on the revolution arc.
Or, more accurately, how I hate that they introduced those mind control charms at all. Salas is a cool af villain when we see him being conniving and manipulative. Getting revolutionaries on the provisional government's guard was a REALLY GOOD plan, and felt really interesting. It was a nice, well-structured villain plan that works with the general shady, kinda foreboding vibes of the provisionary government.
Then we get Salas and Arla's beef being resolved by Salas taking control of her guards off screen and then killing her. Like, I like the CONCEPT of her death. I like Salas trying to directly control the revolutionary government making him take the easy way out by killing Arla. In fact, I feel like I LOVED when the death occurred, right as the war kinda started. But, I feel like the mind control wristbands honestly felt kinda plain?
The immediate thought I thought of was, kinda, why just have Salas solve all it with the wristbands? The more fun option, at least for me, is to just have him BE manipulative. Have him encourage Arla to be more militaristic and violent until it gets her killed. It feels more impactful than her guards just stabbing her in the back with no fight.
Same thing with Dole's maid. I just think it was somewhat unnecessary. I feel like it would be a nice parallel with Rei and Lilly if it was Dole's maid being a willing informant of Salas over Dole genuinely trying to play into the corrupt noble role for Claire's sake. Unintentionally harming many others by their actions, and Salas holding the cards to lead to their downfall. It also just kinda parallels Lilly's Frenzy magic better, in my opinion, Salas and Lilly during the arc redirecting and fostering anger between people.
IG I just want MORE of Salas directly influencing the plot, not just being the monologue guy for it. It's more personal preference on how I like villains, but I did feel slightly disappointed. I also just kinda wanted more about Arla and everything, too. ik the story has to end, but I thought Arla was cool.
Now, the only clip I saw of KGC is that one clip with bootleg Mothra. But, also, hear me out: They just went, like, the whole way on the Mothra thing, she is literally cosplaying as Mothra in that scene, why the hell-
Still waiting on whether there's a king ghidorrah rival, then I'll watch, that would be cool as hell.
Put under fanwork for posterity. This is completely serious, so I didn't want to group it with the regular chapters, if that makes sense. It'll be on the big chapter list, though.
Honestly, I kinda wanted to use this to flesh out the theme of the brainrot AU Rei as a character, where its her identity being taken completely out of context. She's still Rei, same personality, same memories, same everything, but her face is different, her life is different, and the memories she has aren't her current self's. Half of the things she remembers is random quotes and media that would be nonsensical to reference. She has no connection to the world of Revolution beyond a name and face that aren't her own. Basically, its the beginning of Wataoshi taken literally, where Rei just slid into her game character's role with no prior life before the game.
Also, played around with doing original art for these kinds of sequences. not, like, good art, but its weird psychological sequences, idk, this is why I don't try to edit the manga panel unless it's Kibun, lol.
idk if it's a hot take, but I thought the revolution arc has been kinda meh up until this point. Like, I feel like there's a lot I wished they covered sooner right after everything happened, like where Lilly was, the princes, stuff like that, and not just immediately from the provisionary government to Rae and Claire's side, which is admittedly interesting, but also kind of feels like they pumped the brakes a bit too hard. I like Rae tip-toeing around saying she's from modern Japan, and her pushing Claire away when she states her feelings for her is SUPER interesting, but, I don't know how to describe it, it feels like the pace is off.
Honestly, the only problem I have with this chapter specifically is that Rae and Claire this chapter weren't at the shop to meet Misha and Yuu again.
Crimson monologuing about Diplomat's guilt before they kiss would be peak.

I thought, like, the manga was perfect up until Lilly was introduced as a full main main character. She's just a bit too much. I liked the plotlines surrounding her, the twist was decent, but her relationship with Rae and Claire felt more forced then anything. She just did not have any chemistry to me. It also kinda felt like Misha's arc was over and done with way too soon, that definitely impacted my thoughts on Lilly, she should NOT have been the girl Rae told about her past life with.
Like, volume 9 of Seven Seas's translation, and they had the one page with Misha and Yuu, and I was like "hell yeah, they're coming back", and they haven't, as far as I have read, anyways. Like, chapter 51 rn. Maybe they come back, and I make the Knicks's win in NYC look like a lukewarm reception, but until then, I've been betrayed. D:

It all started one fine June 1st, when Pride had finally decided to leave after a drinking and Euphoria binge, taking out the trash, including at least 90 bottles of vodka, to the dumpster.
Suddenly, she noticed something in the corner of her eye.
A rainbow lottery ticket. Thrown away for some strange, inexplicable reason.
It was completely unused, and still good, so Pride tried it.
And, then, she had woken up with a massive headache, on a bed she didn't recognize, and immediately realized she had won, and then spent all her money from, the lottery.
She opened the door, as she realized she was in a giant mansion.
