Key details of one scene I remember:

He was sitting down, and I believe this was a college setting. Perhaps this was a dormitory? I am not 100% sure about this detail though.

He was a fat man, smoking from a bong, and he had an alternative/punk type of style. His black hair was moulded with gel to look like devil horns. He had eyeliner on, with a round face. Kind of smug expression if I remember correctly.

Ideally a place that has a decently large hill I can run up to finish off my run. Yes, I know about the Carleton run club, but I never partook last year when I discovered it. Maybe I will do so this fall... I want a place I can run after I finish my classes, or before.

I am also a beginner runner, so nothing too advanced.

Let me list some I am getting through/completed to give you an idea:

1. Mother Parasite: Currently reading, and the way the characters act pisses me off, but it seems to work for the plot. The plot itself is filled with many insane twists, and all the characters seem to have really bad decision making skills, which is why I am currently reading it. If you like the concept of an Oedipus complex then this one is for you.

2. Salman: This one is actually just pure awesomeness. It felt like a deranged sitcom, and the author makes all the characters very likeable. I don’t know how he does it. I wish he had some more translated works, but unfortunately he only has 3, and this one is the only English translated one.

3. Suehiro Maruo’s stuff: I’m pretty sure his works often make fun of Japanese nationalism, and his artwork is generally stunning. He also likes to depict shocking scenes of coprophilia, children performing sexual acts, and excessive gore. I believe this is just shock content. I think his weirdest works are his short story compilations.

These are what I’ve gotten so far. I feel like most of the stuff I’ve read is too well written to be considered a train-wreck, even if the plot is crazy and deranged. Anyways, do you guys have recommendations for mangas that feel like a b movie?

The first ones that come to mind are Dorohedoro and Franken Fran. I am not sure if either of these qualify as horror, but they contain some very graphic body horror scenes and comedy as well. I personally thought there were certain parts of Dorohedoro that were pretty scary.

I like it especially when the deaths are really disturbing but also played as a joke. Like that one scene in Dorohedoro where Shin and Noi make a bully sandwich. I like it when the story is batshit like that. Having comedy in inappropriate situations is always a must for me. I think the comedy in Dorohedoro is very unique, which makes it special.

-Pumpkin night (haven’t read yet but I will)
- Scumbag Loser (dropped)
- No. 14 (and other stuff by Kazuo Umezu)
- Anything by Hideshi Hino
-Anything by Suehiro Maruo (I loved The Laughing Vampire)
