Horry County Telephone Cooperative

Hello. This is kinda regional, but I had an interview as tech support for HTC. I'm about to graduate with an associates in cybersecurity and was hoping to be employed by their company.

First, they did a phone brief. They call and tell you about the job and see if you are still interested. Then she sets an interview date. I had my interview on the 29th of July. It was about twenty minutes long and was basic customer service/strengths/conflict questions, no real IT since they only require a high school diploma.

She'd told me on the phone that the next round of interviews would be in a few weeks and, if chosen, to expect a call around then. It's kind of vague.

I'm nervous because I'd previously interviewed with them in February for an internship I was turned down for.

I checked the hiring portal and I'm still listed as "Under Review" so I have no idea if that is a good sign or not. I want to assume I did well, but I always think I do well, and yet...no jobs.

Class Choice

Weird question, but I have to pick a science despite being IT/Cybersecurity, so I'm gonna pick either the Dinosauriam or the Hazards and Catastrophes class online. Both seem relatively simple, which is good since my course load is heavy, but sometimes 100 level professors like to make the course difficult *because* we think it'll be easy. I can't find any other group to ask in.

Myrtle Beach/Surfside Store

Does anyone happen to know the hiring manager or who they are, if it's allowed to be discussed? I am interested in a job but the application won't let me upload my resume so it looks like I don't have one.

How we avoiding AI Slop??

All of a sudden my kindle pages have been full of Ai slop ever since I accidentally read an AI book. It was written so normally and I had no idea until I noticed the author published six books since APRIL.

It's maddening.

I don't want to read slop and I don't want to have to thoroughly investigate every author.

Outdated pc, corrupted drivers, missing local account on a dual boot, partitioned hard drive.

My entire windows environment is corrupted. And I can't reinstall windows because the hard drive is partitioned for Linux, and windows is pretending to not understand it. Sfc scannow doesn't work (it stops at 24% verification). All of my drivers are broken or missing. My local account is gone. I just have cmd and my administrator account. That's it. I've tried researching and even resorted to AI, which keeps sending me in circles. I have to be missing something 😩

At this point, I don't even care if I save my data or not. I just want it operational.

I'm slightly knowledgeable about tech but I'm still in school and have not run into something like this before. I don't even know how it happened. Yes, it's out of date, but I've updated it a year late before and it didn't go as berserk as this. I last used the computer in...march, maybe?

I don't know how to even continue.

EDIT: Solved.

International Film Festival 2027

They now allow AI film submissions. Take that as you will. Go, don't go...up to you. I just thought potential or future attendees would like to know.

I didn't think I could, but...

So I had to borrow someone else's desktop for a bit. It was horribly unprepared to handle what I was about to put it through.

The computer I got stuck with:

CPU: Intel Celeron J4025 @ 2.0 GHz (2 cores)

RAM: 4 GB (only 3.75 usable RAM)

GPU: Intel UHD 600 (512 MB VRAM)

Storage: 10 GB free OS: 64-bit Windows

However, I'd like to announce it handled a 250 turn multi-player game extremely well. I launched it using DX11 and we played on a small map with low graphics. Sure, it was slow at times, and as the game got longer, turns became 30-45 seconds, but all in all? It did the trick.

Fortunately I have my computer back. No more of that.

I don't recommend, obviously, but if you're in a pinch, know that you can; however, consider whether or not you should.

Ticketmaster Exchange

I just got two Raleigh tickets from TM Face Value exchanged. It errored saying not available, so I refreshed. They were gone. I went back ten minutes later and they were back and I put in my info. It errored again saying it couldn't be processed. However, the money left my Klarna account and the tickets are in my TM account.

I am going to sell my old tickets to my friend but I'm scared I won't get into the venue because the tickets were double sold or something. I don't trust that I got that lucky.

Double Major or not? Cybersecurity and Information Systems

Has anyone double majored? I'm considering it...it won't cost me any more or less or even take longer. They're basically the same degree in different fonts according to the course load and degree plans.

I'll already an associates in cyber and I'll be getting my certs as soon as I feel ready.

Would it be worth it?

Need a new credit card, seeking travel benefits

Hello. I've had my current card for almost five years and I'm ready for a new one (Yes, my score should be higher by now but there was a mishap where a loan kept charging my expired card and therefore was paid two months late). I just paid a large amount on my current card, so there's a chance it'll be a I've 700 when I apply for a new one next month.

Current cards:

-Discover student card, opened in 2022. $7500 limit.

FICO Score: 700

Oldest account age: 4ys, 8 months

Chase 5/24 status: e.g 2/24

Income: e.g. $35,000

Average monthly spend and categories:

dining: $100

groceries: $200

gas: $100

travel: $100

other: $30

Open to Business Cards: no

What's the purpose of your next card? Travel, Cashback

Do you have any cards you've been looking at? Chase Sapphire, Captal One Venture X

Are you OK with category spending or do you want a general spending card?: Depends/ Unsure

My score is fine but my income isn't ideal at the moment. Is there any card worth getting that would approve me? I don't have a preferred airline because I used to fly spirit, but airline specific cards are fine since I'd just use whatever the card partnered with. Hotels aren't specific either but sometimes I bring my cat, so sonestas and all Hilton hotels are necessary as all sonestas and a few Hilton brands allow cats.

I'm indifferent to annual feels. I can take or leave them as long as it's under $100 and is worth the fee.

Do they ever answer phone calls? I think I dropped cash while I was there and while I know it wasn't turned in, I need them to check the cameras and verify if I dropped it! If I didn't, the bank's machine miscounted my cash and deposited the wrong amount. The bank insists it didn't. But there's no way $100 just vanished, unless I dropped it.

I can't drive back up there right now. I just wish they'd answer a phone.
