Phase between pick ups
This epiphone dot had a pair of GFS Retrotron pick ups. I had a spare pair of Gibson Alnico pick ups and thought it’d be cool to have one of each installed.
After swapping the bridge pickup out, I noticed when I had the pickup selector set in the center, the guitar became quieter. While having the selector here, if I turned one of the pick ups down, the signal got louder; hence I concluded there was a phase issue going on.
I figured that since the two retrotrons never had this problem, they must have opposite wiring. So if I just swapped the remaining Retrotron (neck) out with the one I just removed from the bridge spot, this should fix the issue.
However, there still is some volume drop out when I have the pick up selector set to the middle. I’m confused as to why that would be. Is there something inherent about these pick ups that make them incompatible?
