First time grandmother at 66!

Had to search for a sub so I can share my momentous news, (a secret for the time being)

I'll be witnessing and totally in love with the first baby bump in my immediate family since the last of my five sons were born 30 years and 7 weeks ago. I had resigned myself to the fact that I'd never have grandkids so I was totally shocked by this news

One of my kids and his fiance are expecting and they shared this with me yesterday and I'm supposed to keep it to myself!! My five boys range from 35 to 30, are all either married or engaged and this is the first pregnancy

I'm beyond ecstatic about this! They're 12 weeks along and they shared the gender of the baby as well. They both mentioned on the phone last night that they hope it starts a trend with the brothers, hahaha. Wouldn't that be great?

Please forgive me for divulging this forbidden, exclusive news! I saw two of their brothers, daughters in law and my 82 year old mom and her husband today and it was really difficult keeping quiet about this new development - so here I am with you wonderful parents and parents to be and the people who love them 💖

New foster

New foster in the house!

Don't know why I just assumed AussieDoodles were all small, short little creatures 🙃🤣😂

This guy is as tall as my extra tall Standard Poodle

"Eeyore" came to me a few days ago, my mechanic needed help with two of his dogs. His coat was a mess. His former owner clipped his top half, leaving his legs and belly with dense mats

I love his eyes. He's a beauty!! His manner is so much like my Standard Poodle's. Haven't witnessed any Shepherd behavior YET.

Suggestions sought for what I've gotten myself into, hahaha, plus coat care, he might be a bit overweight? My other dogs, fosters and my own all have obvious waistlines

Thanks everyone!! Love seeing your pics

Female and Over 65 job woes

First time poster:

Working retail, which I actually enjoy. It's not rocket science and I get to have measured doses of the public on the average of 12-16 hours a week. I've been at this store for nine months

I'm the oldest there, most are college students, mostly females, two guys but the store manager and her three assistant managers are women. The managers are all ranging 40s-50s and proficient employees, each one has different methods and ways of doing things - more details to come on that

The store manager is kind, funny, fair and pleasant to work with and for. One assistant is easy to get along with and doesn't really come at me for anything, is fairly polite and respectful

The other ones are verbally obtuse at times when they make a comment, sort of like statements a mom might say to their kid. The other employees roll their eyes at some of the comments made by these two.

During training they were very hard and seemed a bit extreme with me and I felt like I was being treated like a child/old person (which I actually am old but chalked it up to them thinking I'd never stick around long enough for them to care what I might have felt from their rude manner) Other jobs I've trained at were never like this in how I was treated

These two still say things directly about things that are of no consequence or that have anything to do with me, and I've started to respond to the contrary instead of letting it go without any explanation, they still feel the need to over-explain a process that I'm well aware of and am not underperforming, actually was designated Associate of the Quarter in February, we have an 8-9 person team of part time sales associates

The work is not hard, but the little jabs are getting old, almost like they don't even care how they're coming across as it's in the name of micro-managing the newest employee who happens to be older but also is successful with the customers, gets great customer satisfaction surveys and doesn't have any major issues showing up for work every time she's scheduled

I've co-owned and managed two restaurants, supervised employees, worked since I was 16. Took time off to raise five sons, divorce happened, single parenthood went back to work in my 40s, on SS now and like working to supplement my income and staying active

I think I've decided to stop asking questions over the radio going forward, only talk to the nice bosses in person. Hahaha

Stop doing anything one boss says it's okay to do in front of the other bosses. I'm AuDHD and try really hard to be pleasant and positive but I'm thinking that working for some women may be a losing endeavor

I've been thinking about all this in the past week so what this post is doing is listing what I've been experiencing up to this point

Thanks for letting me vent, wasn't sure where to go with this and hopefully it's an okay place to post

Edit to add I know ageism when I see it and thinking this is partly what's going on, but does this mean people can be rude and disrespectful to anyone they want? Oh woe is me. Hahaha
