Gun broker never ceases to amaze me. 100% sure no one will ever be dumb enough to buy this, but I’m sure he knows what he’s got.
This came in today, and it is beautiful for its age, I’m not 100% sure when it was made but I would assume some time between 1870-1890s. I could be wrong. It is a model 1871 Vetterli sword bayonet. Paired with is is my M70/87/15 Vetterli.
Bayonet on EBay, I’m kinda interested in, I’m trying to get a bayonet for my Italian 1870/87/15 Vetterli, but the seller isn’t too sure what it actually is, he’s asking $350 for it.
I’ve had this for about a year now, and plan on shooting surplus ammo out of it, i would like any info on the rifle if possible, what model etc, so I can get the right cleaning rod for it, also the screw on the trigger guard if toast, an im certain im gonna destroy it when removing it, so wondering where i can get another one? Also by the barrel band, is that a problem? Or would it come off with some steel wool, I’ve shot close to 60-80 rounds through it already and have had no issues. Thanks for the info in advance.
Just picked these up, how does German surplus 8mm compare to the other countries that made them. Also are these corrosive?
Am I missing something or do they really cost that much??
