Steam sales - TOAW IV ? Dabbled with Flashpoint campaigns but bounced off WITE2

Hey all,

With the Steam sales in full flight, I've been looking to get a wargame on a discount & TOAW IV has been on my wishlist for quite some time, but I never got round to pulling the trigger.

For context, I am an avid gamer, but not overly seasoned in classic wargames ; I have dabbled a bit with War in the Pacific Admiral Edition (only going as far as playing the Coral Sea scenario) & I also enjoyed a bit of Flashpoint campaigns (albeit being terrible at it).

In my quest to try some game, I also bought War In the East 2 a few years ago but completely bounced off it : while the setting & thought of playing the game was exciting at first, the complexity felt artificial & the UI/mechanics were too tedious for me to latch on.

How would you say TOAW IV has aged & is it one you would recommend still today (based on my experience above)?

Thanks in advance!

Korea performance - What FPS are you getting on more modest hardware?

Hey all,

I have been on the fence about getting Korea. Watching all the popular streamers and YouTubers play the game on top-end machines definitely showcases all the eye candy but I wonder, in practice and on more modest hardware, how does the game perform.

What kind of FPS are you getting with the early access, what specs do you have and which mission/situation was this in?

Thanks in advance!

Possible car part / rubber plug)

I found this next to my car. I was parked near a car dealership, in town, so I think this is likely to be from a car, but not sure what or which model (hopefully not mine).

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

1st Edition Pro Family - How do you activate the (speed) Limiter?

Hey all,

Recently aquired a second hand ID3. Pro Family, loving it so far but still getting to grips with the systems and features.

I am starting to get the hand of the ACC, with its SET & RES modes, which work reasonably well. What I haven't figured out is how to switch to the Limiter mode. My understanding is this mode allows me to set a speed I do not want to be able to exceed through 'normal' accelerator pressure.

On the left hand side of the steering wheel there is the 'Mode' switch, when I select the left or right arrow, the driver's dashbord displays a screen with the two options : ACC & Lim ; unfortunately, pressing the left or right arrows does NOT appear to change the selection..

What I normally do for ACC is press the '0/1' button to enable, and then either press 'SET' to match my current speed, or 'RES' to have it follow the speed limit on the road (assuming it gets its right).

  • Is my understanding of what the Limiter correct?
  • How are you supposed to enable the Limiter mode? I must be missing something, because no matter what I do, I always end up with ACC instead.

Any help would be much appreciated!

2022 Pro Family - How to cancel a charge & release the cable from infotainment?

Hey all,

New proud owner of an ID.3 Pro Family. Loving it so far & it's been one hell of a smooth ride. I am still getting to grips with EV charging as a whole and becoming accustomed with the features & quirks of the car.

One thing I haven't figured out how to reliably & predictably do is cancel a charge & release the charging cable through the infotainment system.

When I press s cancel charge on the infotainment it seems to just pauses itself, rather than cancel itself ; when I do this, the charging light does change to white, but the cable won't release. As of right now, the only way I have found to release the cable is to press the unlock button on the fog three times.

Surely this is not the prescribed way to do it, or is it?

How do you do cancel charging & release the cable from the infotainment?

Thanks in advance!

Second hand Nissan Ariya 63kWh as first EV?

Hey,

For some context, I have been driving the same old Nissan Micra K12 for 13 years and running, which I purchased for £4000. This is my first car & it now has just over 80k miles on the counter, since I work from home & I typically only drive it 3000 miles a year, with a 120 mile round-trip being the average 'long' trips I take with it.

At this rate, my car is probably going to rust away before it fails mechanically. That being said, the outside & interior is starting to show its age, from the 3-door setup (my back), malfunctioning CD-radio, to the glove box that won't close anymore (good luck sourcing a replacement handle), and the lack of AC which makes for spring/summer journeys a swealtering experience, assuming you value your ear drums.

The car is sound otherwise but both myself, my partner & daughter are keen for a change.

---

Long story short, our mortgage is paid off, we have ample savings to comfortably cover insurance & an impulse cash-payment of a 'new' second hand vehicle. I personally like the look of & have been considering getting a Nissan Ariya, for the EV aspect (with fuel prices increasing), extra space (5-doors, oh the luxury with a young child!) & tech/convenience (compared to my old Micra that is).

The 'budget' I have set myself is around £20k & I have been seeing quite a few second hand (with low mileage) Ariya 63KWh models in this price range in my area. At this point I am looking for people to tell me this is a terrible idea...

We do not have a home charger (yet), and whilst we do not have a driveway either, our local council does allow for cable protectors, so I should be able to run the cable from my house, across the front garden to the car parked on-street.

---

Boring bit over ...

For those who own the Nissan Ariya 63KWh :

  • What are your driving habits & did you have to adapt them to the 63KWh battery?
  • What has the range been like for you, in practice, in this lovely British climate?
  • Are there any quirks or aspects of the car which you wish you knew, but wasn't mentioned in reviews?
  • How is it to drive / park (I drive a tiny hatchback, so finding parking spaces has historically not been much of an issue)

For those who do not own a Nissan Ariya :

  • What other EV can you recommend for a small 3-person family, with low yearly mileage which is perhaps more justifiable in your eyes?
  • OR, am I better just sticking with my old Micra for the next 5-10 years, until it becomes unsalvageable (by that point I could probably get a Mr.Fusion-powered car)?

Any insight or wisdom would be very much appreciated!
