I wanted to show you the new opening of Luminons: Seeds of Starlight -> main menu, gender selection, player and ranch naming, and first story cutscene

Hi! I wanted to share the current opening of Luminons: Seeds of Starlight.

The video shows the main menu, gender selection, player and ranch naming, and the first story cutscene.

I’m aiming for a more emotionally mature story, focused on the characters and the world rather than the usual “beat your rival and become the champion” plot.

The game is also being designed to be fully playable with a controller, including the text input system, with Steam Deck support in mind.

Some things still need a bit of polish (specially the naming scene), but the main concept and flow are already in place. Hope you like it!

How types work in Luminons: every creature can be born as any type

This is how types work in Luminons: Seeds of Starlight.

I wanted to move away from the classic system where each creature species is locked to one specific type. In Luminons, every species has a default type, but depending on its parents during breeding, the offspring can be born as another type.

That also changes its color palette:

  • Lumen: whites, yellows and lighter colors
  • Umbra: purples and darker tones
  • Flora: greens and floral colors
  • Crystal: bluish tones
  • Ether: reds and pinks

The type advantage chart is:

Lumen ↔ Umbra
Ether > Flora > Crystal > Ether

I thought this could be a fun way to make breeding more exciting, since the same Luminon species can appear in different type variants across generations.

The exploration forest also changes randomly each in-game day, and it can appear themed around any of the five types. Each forest gives different rewards, so every day can bring different resources to gather.

I’m developing Luminons, a monster-taming JRPG with breeding, egg hatching, stat growth and 3v3 auto-battles

Hi everyone! I’m the developer of Luminons: Seeds of Starlight, a monster-taming JRPG where you collect, breed and raise creatures called Luminons.

https://preview.redd.it/kjhuzqwl3v9h1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=e0585dc2223bc7c850b286b87e1259dd08f3f421

The game focuses on long-term creature progression. Each Luminon has its own stats and traits, and you can improve them through farming, feeding, breeding and egg care before they hatch.

The main gameplay loop is about building your team over time: growing special crops, raising stronger Luminons, hatching new creatures, preparing them for beauty contests, and using them in 3v3 auto-battles.

Main features:

- Creature collecting and raising

- Breeding combinations

- Egg hatching and pre-hatch improvement

- Stat growth and traits

- Farming tied directly to creature progression

- Beauty contests

- 3v3 auto-battles

I'm making a cozy game where your farm crops literally upgrade your creatures' stats

Hi everyone! I'm solo-developing Luminons: Seeds of Starlight, a cozy creature-raising game where the crops you grow directly upgrade your Luminons' stats — for battles, beauty contests, or both.

https://preview.redd.it/ciw9vvyiok9h1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=8910c16de971f57e3742b70dc4ae507d826c06d9

You farm, hatch eggs, and raise creatures with their own traits and personality. The farming isn't just atmosphere — it's the core loop.

If the crops you grew directly affected your creatures' stats, would you min-max your farm or just grow what feels cozy?

I’m making Luminons, a cozy monster-taming game about breeding, hatching eggs and raising creatures

Hi everyone! I’m developing Luminons: Seeds of Starlight, a cozy monster-taming game where you collect, breed and raise creatures called Luminons.

The game mixes creature collecting, farming, egg hatching, stat growth, beauty contests and 3v3 auto-battles. I’m trying to make the breeding and hatching systems feel meaningful, so eggs can be improved before they hatch and each Luminon has its own traits and stats.

I’d love feedback from monster-taming fans: what makes breeding, hatching or raising creatures feel satisfying to you in these games?
